I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:
I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.
I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.
My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?
Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.
I run a simple .aspx website on a Windows Server 2008 machine.
There is NO impersonation, and
System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name returns NT
AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE, which it the account which the application
pool runs. In my web.config, I have <authentication mode="Forms">.
I tried to test the security of the
application and server by removing file permissions to the .aspx files. I
was greatly worried when the website continued to run without problem
(it should not have been able to read the .aspx files).
on file level auditing, I discovered that the .aspx files were being
read by the machine$ account (if the machine is called Serv1, then the
files would be read by the Serv1$ account, which seems to have access to
all files on the local machine).
Is this a security breach or is this behaviour by design ?
Please can somebody assist, as I am worried.
Hi I have created an intranet application using ASP.Net/IIS.
I normally need to web share the folder and allow full permission to ASP.Net user account.
However, I carelessly deleted this account. How to create it again ?
Pls help.... thanks.

Any Ideas on how to fix this issue?
Visual Studio 2005, Windows 7 64bit, SQL Server 2005 Express
Cannot open database "sql2" requested by the login. The login failed.Login failed for user 'IIS APPPOOL\DefaultAppPool'.
Our search is not working. The crawl log indicates following error: "Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)".
If I check the event viewer, it indicates following error: "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]"
My default content access account is another one than this NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. The content access account password is correct. Apparently this content access account is translated to the NETWORK SERVICE account upon a crawl. And this network service account doesn't has the appropriate rights on database level. How can I fix this?
I need to create individual account for a big group of people (around 200) from an Excel spreadsheet. What is the best practice? It will take too much time to create account using web form. I think there must be a way to do it. Please advice. I tried to use Stored procedures created by ASP.NET. NOT SURE whether it is a good idea.
I'm having this problem for quite sometime now. I'm using SQL Express for my DB.
First i thought it's because of Web Server 2003 so i migrated to 2008 but it did'nt solve the problem.
Some of my users suddenly cannot login anymore not All were affected and almost same user
encounter account corruption. My solution right now is to delete their account and create a new one.
I dont know if it's how they use the web service or something wrong with the browser.
My plan right now is to create a new "ASPNETDB" if i cant find any solution.
Hope some can asist me if in case you have already encountered this. Also thought that maybe
because i'm using SQL Express MS intended to do this to force me to buy licensed version.
BTW, normally i only have 20 users accessing Web at the same time.
Thank you for advance.
I created a widows service for mail schedule with c#.net and sql server 2005 and it is working fine for past one year.
now sometimes i am getting the "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:
Login failed for user '<UserName>'. Reason: The account is
then i restarted the windows service manually and working.
what is the problem in my sql server connection and how to fix that issue?
