publisher won't start on same server as service

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I just converted a pub/sub service over from httpdual to net.tcp and set security mode from none to Windows.  The service works fine and clients can connect.  The publisher seems to work as well, as long as it is run from a different machine.  What I can't figure out is why the publisher won't work on the same machine as the service anymore, why wouldn't authentication work on that server between the publisher and service?  The publisher is basically a client of the service... it only works remotely.

When I start it on the same server, I get: "The server has rejected the client credentials" and faulted channels.

I have tested installing the publisher service on my local workstation and configured logon to use our domain limited privilege user.  It works both with localsystem and the domain user.  It doesn't work either way when the service is installed to the server hosting the service.

Is there a problem registering the callback contract?  I don't call subscribe in the publisher... I tried port sharing too.

Publisher config:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <binding name="tcp" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00

SQL Server 2008 express SQL Server Service won't start

Could really use some help. Am running XP Pro SP3.  Had 2005 Express running fine previously.  Installed 2008 Express but cannot get the SQL Server service to start.  SQL Server Agent does start though.  In log (below) it seems to be trying to access an E:\ drive that doesn't exist (did default install to C:\Program Files) - plus other issues.  Have 5gig+ free, so not sure why it's saying not enough space.  Have RTFMd the problem for a whole day with no luck.  Any advice much appreciated.   Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1600.1 (Intel X86)  Apr  2 2010 15:53:02  Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows NT 5.1 <X86> (Build 2600: Service Pack 3) (Hypervisor)   Error: 17054, Severity: 16, State: 1. The SQL Server(2005 express) service failed to start. Error 29503

Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition -- Error 29503. The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online topics, "How to: View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually."
The error is  (1067) The process terminated unexpectedly.

Initially the SQL Server was running over there, later one day it stopped. When trying to start manually I got "The process terminated unexpectedly" error. Tthen I uninstalled it and tried to install again, but got "Error 29503. The SQL Server service failed to start" error while installation and installation rolled back. If I install it using Local System and without "Enable User Instance" I get same error but after multiple retry it started. However my desktop application is not running and giving error message "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure process for the user instance. The connection will be closed".

I tried "sp_Configure .......... " and "Reconfigure" to enable user instance but still got "Failed to generate......" error.

Another problem is that SQL Server service starts in multiple retry.

I have tried most of the forum solutions however I am still getting the same error in my desktop application. Mos

SQL server 2005 cluster - second node - sql service will not start - node is showing down in cluster

I am tryng to get the second node in a two node cluster to start sql services and come up in the cluster.  The second node was configured and running in a cluster when at some point, the sql service and/or cluster service went down.  Now the node will not start...as in SQL service fails and the system log error is:

"The disk associated with cluster disk resource 'Disk Q:' could not be found. The expected signature of the disk was BF17D33C. If the disk was removed from the server cluster, the resource should be deleted. If the disk was replaced, the resource must be deleted and created again in order to bring the disk online. If the disk has not been removed or replaced, it may be inaccessible at this time because it is reserved by another server cluster node."

and the Application log shows:

Error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.) occurred while opening file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\master.mdf' to obtain configuration information at startup. An invalid startup option might have caused the error. Verify your startup options, and correct or remove them if necessary.

I had to edit the startup parameters on the second node because it appears it cannot "see" the original path, which was a network driv

Service "SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)" is set as automatic but sometimes the service doesn't start or th

I am using SQL Server Express 2005 and Win XP SP3.

Once my SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service does not start automatic (although it is set as automatic), another time it works.

When the service starts automatic it can happen, that it stops unexpected.

I have no error messages in the event log and there are no error messages when I start the service manually.

This happens on 60 different notebooks. (all use SQL Server Express and Win XP SP3).

Sometimes the service works several days without any problems.

I reinstalled SQL Server Express several times but after some time I have the same problem again.

Are there any programs which are not compatible with SQL Server Express?

I hope you have some ideas.

Thanks and regards

Cannot start SQL Server Agent service on Cluster , 2008 R2

I'm testing a two node cluster installation on windows 2008 r2 and sql server 2008 r2 both enterprise before a production deployment and my only issue so far is that the SQl Server Agent service cannot be started.

The failover works fine, the cluster and SQL services changes nodes without any problem but on both nodes i cannot start that service.

I'm using a domain user for the service, member of the local admin and sysadmin on the SQL server itself.

The error i get when i click on start from SQL management console is:

Unable to start service SQLAGENT$SQLTEST on server SERVERNAME. (mscorlib)

SQL Server Service does not start on SQL Failover Cluster Node B even though i turn off Node A (acti

We ahev setup a SQL Server (64-bit) Failover Environment which consist of a Node A (active) and Node B (passif).

The setup was completed successfully and was working fine since june 2008.

Our system administrators have reported that, after they made some changes during a maintenance week-end, the SQL Server Services don't start anymore on the node B (even though they turn off the active node A and make Node B as active). Our attempts to manually start those services arealways failing.

Can someone help?

Service Station: An XML Guru's Guide to BizTalk Server 2004, Part I

Who would have believed that XML, such a seemingly trivial technology, could revolutionize an industry? It may have seemed like a long shot in the beginning, but the XML aficionados saw something special and pragmatic right away-a sort of duct tape for the world's information systems.

C++ and ATL: Use ATL Server Classes to Expose Your Unmanaged C++ Code as an XML Web Service

Throughout this issue, you'll read all about the promise of Web Services and how the .NET Framework enables Web Service development. Many people will also be building their Web Services atop C++ code and frameworks like ATL Server, particularly when performance is paramount. In this article, the authors show how fully functional Web Services are built using ATL Server and Visual Studio .NET. Beginning with unmanaged C++ classes, they add ATL attributes that make the code work over HTTP.
