Altering in-document form layout for Document Library Columns

My users need to add metadata to documents they check out of a Document Library while they are in the document. That works fine (the forms appear at the top of the Word Document, underneath the task bar). However, the layout of the forms is kind of bad. Is there a way to redesign the forms in the top of a word document so that they look better?

Document Library "export to spreadsheet" doesn't export all columns in Excel 2003

Hi, we are working with MOSS 2007, Infopath Forms Services, KPIs and Excel 2003. There is a view for some data of the Infopath forms which has to be exported to Excel by our users, but some columns are not exported - without any error message. If I try to export it to Excel 2007 everything is exported as expected, but our users have to use Excel 2003. Any idea?

Unable to create columns in document library after applying custom master page to site

Hi, I have applied a custom master page to a site.There is a document library in it. I am unable to add columns in it or change the default view.Nothing happens when I click on OK butoon after making my changes. However the columns are created/default view is changed when I apply the default master page. Guess I am missing some TagPrefix or sharepoint control on master page.I had solved this problem earlier in this way but don't remeber it now. Can anyone help?

Hi all           I want to generate a report  containing data from a form library and pictures from a picture library. MOSS 2007 Strange Problem with edit forms, content types and document library columns


I'm having a strange problem and have not been able to track down any useful answers over google.

I inherited a SharePoint site that I am now making some changes to.

I am having problems with one document library.  We had custom edit forms on this document library, which I was finding a pain to maintain so I reset them back to the site definition.  This edit form now shows only those fields that are associated with the Document content type (the only content type - I've deleted the others) on the document library.  There are other columns on this document library that are NOT associated with the content type that I would like to show on the edit form but they are not available when I try to add them to the content type via Settings > Document Content Type > Add from existing site or list columns.  The select columns from drop down is set to List Columns.  The Additional Authors column is just not there.

I CAN see this field on the all items view for the document library, it is there and populated with data.

Setting the Allow Managed content types radio button to NO does not have any impact on which fields are visible on the form- I still see those same fields that have been associated with the Document content type.

Has anyone else seen this or does anyone have any thoughts??

Document Library Missing Columns in Edit Properties

Hi, I'm having an issue with a specific Site Collection.  The issue is that some of the columns do not show up when you go to the Edit Properites page, or when the user creates a new document.  The items can be edited when opened in a data sheet, but the users would like to be able to edit them on the Edit Properties page.  They say they haven't made any changes, but this has happened at least 3 times with differenct document libraries on this specific site.  Has anyone else ever dealt with this?  Anyone got a solution?  Let me know if more info is needed.  Thanks.

Why is Sharepoint 2010 standard search no searching within Document library columns



Environment : SharePoint 2010 Enterprise version, using regular search and NOT Fast Search

Standard search is configured and running succesfully and returns results by searching in documents and columns of lists\ calendars and everything else except for Document librarie's columns may it be text or lookup datatype, any clue?



Getting error msg while trying to upload a document inot the document library using the form which i


I have designed an upload form with the columns that have to be filled in while uploading a document into the document library.The form is designed in .net.

I get "Error Access Denied" message when i try to upload the document using that upload form.When i go back to site,the document is uploaded in that particular document library.But this problem doesnot exist when i upload the document as admin.There is no " Error Access Denied" message.I have checked the document library permissions.The problem is not with the permission to that particular document library.

Can someone help me out in this issue?

Merge Upload form and editform in Document library upload document



I have a document library.  When the user click on the upload, I want to display an entry form that have: Name, description, keywords and file with the browse button. All those fields should be on the same page. 

The problem is that by default when the user click on upload button, it get redirected to _layouts/Upload.aspx which ask the user to browse for the document, when he click ok, it is redirected to Forms/EditForm.aspx to provide the Name, description and keywords field. 

My client do not want to have two pages, he just want to enter and upload the file all in one page.

Any ideas how can I accomplish this?

Publishing Portal - Infopath form document library


I have created publishing portal for extranet users and in heed to have Infopath form document library. But there is no option for creating form library but has option to create document library. Can anyone tell me how to create a form library in publishing portal.


Compare InfoPath Form Field to Document Library list in SharePoint


I have an infopath form that has a field that matches values in a SharePoint List. In the SharePoint List I have two fields, One is email and the other is the field I am trying to match on. When the form is submitted I want to take that field from the form and compare it to the SharePoint list and return the email that is associated with that list item. Can this be done?? I appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

PDF form as Content Type for SharePoint Document Library


Is there any way to use PDF form (.pdf)  template as Content type for document library??

I have a pdf form template and i want to make a content type of it, so i can use it for my Document Library. I defined a new content type of it with following settings:

Select Parent Content From dropdown: Special Content Types,
    Parent Content Type Dropdown: Unknown Document Type

Under Advance Settings i uploaded the pdf form template to server. Under Document Library Settings I add this content type to it, now when i click NEW button it gives me an error message saying:

"The Document couldn't be created. The required application may not be installed properly, or the template for this document library can't be opened"

Seems like SharePoint doesn't integrate with or support Adobe Reader to open PDF form as Content Type or I am missing something there (for example: dll ).

I would really appreciate if you help me on this. Thanks


Passing Calculated Columns from Sharepoint into Word Document Library Template

Another noob question.  I have been able to figure out how to pass single line text, date, etc. data from a Sharepoint List into a Word Template, but I am still trying to figure out how to pass a calculated column.  Is there a workaround?


How to attach Custome Edit form to Document library using Sharepoint designer 2007



I have created lot  of costom .aspx page using  sharepoint desgner 2007 and attached to custome list successfully .   tha same  approach i followed for document library in moss 2007 . but i tried to attach that form to docment libarary  its giving error "The page you have selected does not contain a reference to the correct SharePoint list".  i ahve googled  to sort out the problem  and find out  content type should be 'Item' type. but this is document library  so  content  type is document . ther is no ther option  for Item.

Please help me to come out from this   problem.

How to use DVWP to filter multiple columns in a document library


I am not new to SP, but newer to developing in SP, so I need some help please.

I am attempting to convert my company away from nested folders on SP. Elsewhere I saw a way to add multiple custom columns to a document library and then use a different web part (I thought the Form Web Part, but that only lets you filter on one column at a time) to filter the document library using those columns.

Ex: I have three columns:

* Market - with the checkbox choices being Employer, Public, Payer, and GovEduLab. A document could be a part of all, some or one of those markets.
* Product - with the checkbox choices being Care Solutions and Behavioral Solutions. A document could be a part of all, some or one of those markets.
* Process - again, checkbox choices being Account Planning, Commissions, Contracts, etc. And again, the doucment could be a part of all, some or one of those markets.

I want to create something that will allow the user to use some kind of "form" to filter find any document that is a Public-Care Solutions-Contract document and only show thsoe documents in the library.

How to restrict access to a SharePoint Document Form Library while allowing users to fill out and su


We have created a MS InfoPath form with it's corrsponding SharePoint Document Form Library, but would like to restrict the access to the SharePoint Document Form Library. After the user completes and submits the forms then he/she should not be able to go into the SharePoint Document Form Library and view the form. In order to allow users to fill out and submit an InfoPath form, Contributor level access is required to be granted. But Contributor level access allows them to view not only the form he/she has created but everyone else's which is not acceptable in this particluar situation. The solution we've come up with is to grant Contributor access to the SharePoint Document Form Library when the Submit button is pressed using stsadm grant the user Contibutor role. Then remove the access once the submission is completed.

We would be interested to know if there is a better process to accomplish this task. And, of equal importance, the coding that is required to execute this task.
