Hi,

I want to modify my userAvailabilityCheck code and want to add the code that this userAvailabilityCheck function does not fire If the textbox is null or having character less than 6 but display related error message.

Below is my code-

 var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); //set no conflict so you can use with MS AJAX.
        $j(document).ready(function() {
            // Find the ClientID of your TextBox UserName inside Create User Wizard
        var UserNameClientID = '<%= UserName.ClientID %>';

            // Make the AJAX call to the WebMethod when the textbox loses focus

            $j("#" + UserNameClientID).blur(function() {

             var userName = $j("#" + '<%= UserName.ClientID %>').val();

            if ($('#UserName').is(':empty'))
                $('#username-availability').html("<label>Username can't be empty!</label>");
            else if (userName.length() <= 6)
                $('#username-availability').html(" <label>Username must be at least 6 characters!</label>");
            else
            {
               $j.ajax
                    ({
                        type: "POST",

Check All with JQuery and a Asp.Net GridView

Display a Grid on the screen with a checkbox in each row. At the bottom of the page have "Check All" button.

Typically if I need to do anything interesting I use a template column. So my GridView will look like the one below (most other columns removed for readability). The only interesting point to note is the CssClass="ApprovalCheckBox" in the CheckBox ItemTemplate.

Cleanest way of setting max string length for text in GridView cells?

I want to make sure that each row in the table is the height of one line of text only.  I know you can set RowStyle-Wrap="false", but I also don't want any really wide rows.  I know I can go through each cell on RowDataBound or something and cut it to a particular length and then append an ellipsis on the end, but is there a neater way of doing the same thing?

The maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data.

Hi, I have been working on implementing a WCF service and have run into this problem with the maxStringContentLength.  I have read a bunch of posts here on how to correct it and none of them have worked.  I have updated my web.config in my local IIS5 published service to be maxStringContentLength="2147483647" and have updated my application's app.config to be maxStringContentLength="2147483647".  I delete all DLL's, rebuild, restart IIS, make sure all VS 2008 virtual webs are stopped, republish multiple times...even reboot my machine and I continually receive the following error message:The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/qlStatement. The InnerException message was 'There was an error deserializing the object of type System.String. The maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader. Line 171, position 35.'.  Please see InnerException for more details.I am running the service on my local machine: Win XP SP2, IIS5, .Net 3.5, VS 2008Here is my WCF service's servicemodel section of the web.config:    <system.serviceModel>    <bindings>      <wsHt

Query DB and update Check Box List on JS/jQuery Function

Hey guys.  I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in but I've come to a roadblock in my app and I'm not sure which way I should go.  Currently, I have a slider control and two text boxes used to set the Start and End times of a section of a video.  Let's say the video is of some Music Awards.  In my database, I've tagged the start and end time of each celebrities on-screen appearance.  When the user adjusts their start and end times on the page, I want to query the database table and pull back all celebrities within that range.  The problem is I don't know how to do this in JS.Can I use the Check Box List and bind the values to it?  Do I need to render a table of Check Boxes in JavaScript?  Do I call the Server-Side code via Ajax and then partially render the page?Any help, comments or suggestions would be great.
