SDLC Approach or Software Development Life Cycle

SDLC process stats from conception to completion of any software project. According to this approach the software development team is responsible for the whole project development life cycle. After doing SRS and requirements analysis; developers follow different models of Software development Life Cycle (SDLC) available, while the most common model is SDLC waterfall model. They divide project in different stages & phases and the output of each stage or phase becomes the input for next stage.

Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

The systems development life cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in an information system development project, from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. Various SDLC methodologies have been developed to guide the processes involved, including the waterfall model (which was the original SDLC method); rapid application development (RAD); joint application development (JAD); the fountain model; the spiral model; build and fix; and synchronize-and-stabilize.

Sharepoint development cycle, how? with what? and how can I update objects?

I am new to sharepoint and was wondering if someone can please point me in the right direction. (SP 2010)
I have to develop a solution that will include lists, content types and custom forms etc.  The system will go live but there will be changes and i need to push the changes to my solution out to pre-prod then finally production servers.
What is the best way to manage this development. For example:
I have created content types using a VS template but if i change them the changes do not take effect on objects using that content type.
So i created the content types in code, then i can at least check if it exists then make any changes (eg description change for column type)
When i tried to publish lists, it removed the list i had previously (and all the data)
I have since started to look as the SP designer, which looks good, but how do i version my code?(SVN)
In SP designer i can save a template, which does everything i want , except i cannot update version in pre-production (templates are single instantiation only)
I have since gone full circle and looked as VS again an

Silverlight Application Life Cycle

When you embed the Silverlight plug-in in a Web page, you specify the location of the application package that the plug-in should download. The whole process is as follows:

A User requests a Web page that hosts the Silverlight plug-in.
If the correct version of Silverlight has been installed, the Web browser loads the Silverlight plug-in and creates the Silverlight content region. The plug-in then begins downloading your .xap file.
The plug-in extract the contents of the .xap file and read the AppManifest.xaml file from the XAP to determine the assemblies your application uses.

What is difference in Page Life cycle in general postback and postback due to child control of updat

Since both general postback and postback due  to child control of update panel causes a postback and all events of page are loaded then what is the actual difference between  general postback and postback due to child controls of update panel.

Also, it is said that childern of update panel do a partial postback .Then how it is a partial postback ?? I am seeing that whole page life cycle is  happening even in partial postback ?

Can anyone explain this ?

Simple steps to ease your programming life and deliver good quality software in an extreme way

I was reading "extreme programming explained embrace change" by Kent Beck. I found this book to be very helpful to ease our stressful programming life, to deliver good quality software with far fever defects. Extreme programming is about changing yourself, letting your mistakes exposed and then learning from those. It's about writing good code and following best practices. It's about developing good relationship with your team members and customers.
