Red X in Second Tablix

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I have a couple of reports that I converted from SSRS 2005 that have 2 tablix ,originally tables, on the same report.  In BIDS 2005 they display fine, as in both Tablix display.  In BIDS 2008 one tablix displays correctly and the second one displays a huge red x.  The underlying expressions and layout appears editable and I the report renders fine.  Its just a pain to edit.

Tablix Header missing on last page of PDF output

Tablix Headers don't show on last page of PDF and TIFF output.   I've tried all things mentioned including installing SQL Server 2008 Cumulative Update# 7.   My issue is that I have a Tablix with some header rows that repeat fine until the last page.   On the last page they are hidden.  This appears to be true of PDF and TIFF output.  THere are other issues with Word output.   The standard HTML viewer works fine.   So its clearly a PDF renderer issue.

Report with Static Layout (Restrict Rectangle Growth/Static Tablix size)

How do you stop a Tablix or the rectangle that is a Tablix is contained in from growing.  I have been designing a report that must have a very specific layout due to government and commericial policies.  In this report is a header on top, a footer, some other reporting data above and below a rectangle that contains a tablix region.  I need this tablix and/or rectange to stay a constant size, if there are more rows, it should start another page in the report.  Instead, it grows and pushes all the datafields below it, down and off the page.    I have also tried this with a frame.  The table must show within the frame on form only.  The frame can contain maximum of 10 rows, but the table will grow outside the frame and the items below are pushed down and off the page.  I cannot see how I can setup a page break on every 10th row on a table. Does anyone know how setup a constant size Tablix/Table in a rectangle or frame so that it will not grow beyond the specified size (so the data fields below it will not be moved) and will instead create a new page?  This is crucial to our application and we may have to switch reporting solutions if we can get this figured out. Thanks for you help!

Problem with Subreports in Tablix in 2008 SQL Reporting Services

Hi,  I have set up a report to get data from an SQL Table to build a matrix of possible combinations of 2 products, works fine. For each combination a subreport should be called with row and colum value as parameter - also OK. But for most of the first and second column are the same column values handed to the subreport, for all other columns it works Deleting and recreating the matrix does not help   Thanks in advance

The tablix 'tablix2' referes to an invalid DataSetName

Hey good people I'd like to find out if its possible to have a tablix control in SSRS used purely to display hardcoded data. I tried setting the DataSetName property to none but thats not doing the trick, Still getting the same error "The tablix 'tablix2' referes to an invalid DataSetName" Pls help

How do you freeze the tablix header row in an Excel export file in SSRS 2008?

So this is totally killing me. I've found out how to make a tablix header row repeat on each page of a PDF export file in SSRS 2008 (which I won't even get started on because all I can say is that 2005 is way better), but I cannot figure out how to make a simple header row of a tablix freeze in an Excel export file.  The tablix is right at the top of the body and spans the entire width of the design area.  How in the world do you get it to freeze in the Excel export file?

group only selected columns of tablix

i have a simple tablix, with item in rows and sales per year in columns...so depending upon the data available, the columns will be shown..from year 2010 back to any number of years..                   year item    2010      2009    2008    current yr   current yr + last yr 123     50           80        10            50            50+80=130 abc      119          29       40         119          119+29 = 148 now, i want to have a calculated columns ( current year sales ie first column value), (last two year sales ie first two column sum) how to achieve this.

Hiding rows/columns completely in SSRS tablix even when they have data

I have several columns and rows in my tablix.  I don't want to see all of them at once.  I am using a parameter that controls the visibility of the columns or rows of the tablix.  The issue is that it hides but the white space is left.  How do i take out that white space?

Best method for hiding a tablix when no data exists

Hello, I am using SSRS 2008. We currently have a number of reports which often have several tables stacked one above the other. In many cases the data supplying one or more of these individual tables returns no rows. Rather than inform the user of this using the no rows message options we simply hide the table since there is no reason for displaying the column and field labels with empty data as this is a waste of space depending on the report in question. In our SSRS2005 reports we often checked the primary key of the tables dataset by comparing it to NOTHING, example: Visability: Hidden = IIF(primary_key = NOTHING, True, False) But when we converted these reports from 2005 to 2008 this became unstable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. What I am hoping to find out is the most stable, if not Microsoft-recommended, method for hiding a tablix(table, matrix or rectangle) if there is no data? I have seen the use of the rowcount option, but I would like to determine if this is the preferred practice before implementing it accross the board on our reports. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

Tablix header not repeating in SSRS 2008

I have a tablix header which is not repeating on each page. I have tried all the suggestions given for this issue in the forum but no luck.

for e.g: The repeat header rows in Tablix properties

Steps in Advanced Mode "RepeatonPage" etc.

I have a tablix with headers and two groups. The tablix structure is as below

Zone  Product Client Amount.

Here Zone is Parent group of product group. For both these groups i have tried the advanced mode suggestions. "Zone" Visibility is hidden in the report.

Thank you for your assistance.

is there a way to build a report with a tablix and let the columns movable for the users?
from another post i figured out, that this feature is not supported in sql server 2008.
is it featured in  2008 R2 or in 2010? :)

thanks Johnny

Page Breaks within tablix (SSRS 2008)

page breaks seem to be a real issue in SSRS, according to the number of posts, but I haven't found a solution for my problem yet.

My report contains a tablix which is used to group the data by keys. The tablix has one column and one row, and this cell contains several subreports which get their data from another table depending on the keys of the groups. This works quite well. However, I would like to insert a page break in between the subreports. I tried inserting a rectangle with the PageBreak property set to Start and/or End, but this is ignored. Page breaks in the subreports themselves are also ignored. Having the subreports in rectangles with PageBreak property set to Start or End is ignored as well.

The only way I have found to force page breaks is cross-joining my query of the main report with a table containing page numbers, add the page number field as the last grouping in SSRS and check the "Page breaks between each instance of the group", then showing or hiding the subreports conditionally depending on the page number retrieved from the database. However, this obviously multiplies the amount of retrieved data by the number of pages and is therefore a rather slow approach.

How can I insert a page break between rows of a tablix or even within one row?

We are using the Report Viewer control in local processing mode

Header Displayed For Hidden Tablix in SSRS 2008

I have inheritted a report which was written in SSRS 2005 and I am trying to migrate to SSRS 2008. It contains 2 overlapping tables - with different contents. Depending on a parameter selection either 1 or other of the tables is displayed. This is controlled via an expression in the visibility property of each table.

The display/no display of the tables works fine - but in 2008 an extra page with a header and footer is displayed for the 'invisible' table resulting in an unwanted page. Is there a way to avoid this and why doesn't it work in the same way 2005?

Sorting on a Tablix in a Matrix Report SSRS 2008

This is the format of my report and I am trying to get the rows sorted.I do know about interactive sorting but I do not want to use it because this report will be called by an external web application and I want this report sorted before it is rendered to the user.

Tablix Grouping Layout

I'm failry new to reporting services so sorry if this seems like such a trivial questions. I'm working with reporting services 2008.

I have the following data:

Group A   Item 1

Group A   Item 2

Group B   Item 3

Group B   Item 4

Group B   Item 5

And I would like to display the data as follows:

Group A

Item 1

Item 2

--------------------------- Page Break ----------------------------

Group B

Item 3

Item 4

Item 5

Is there any way to achieve this? I know I can do this with subreports but there has to be an easier way to do this.

Thank you for your help,
