How to create 3 tier application using LINQ

Posted By: Faizal     Posted Date: January 03, 2010    Points: 2   Category :ASP.Net
As you know that in 3 tier architecture there are three layers

User interface layer. (Is our Form in Windows application and .aspx page in Web application)
Data Access layer. (Which provides interface between Business logic layer and Database)
Business Logic layer.(Which stores your application logic)

Logic behind N -Tier Application Development

In the arena of application development, developers all over the world use various programming languages, technical processes, and technical tools. While using number of technical & non technical elements the processes or methods become complex, for simplification of the application development process, developers use various techniques such as dividing the application architecture into layers or parts. In the professional & technical language this separation or division process is called N-Tier Application Development process, where "N" stands for number and "tire" stands for layers or parts.

Create Web Site vs Web Application

I follow the tutorial and creted a web site for my company sales system. One of my collegue mention we use the wrong templet, we should use Web application for company application.

Should i continue using web site or change to web application? We are creating application for company sales, inventory, hr ,etc where possible more than 1000++ user. And during month end, it will be high traffic and transaction. can Web Site Template with BLL and DAL handle it? or i just need a powerful server?

Which tier do Linq queries belong?

Started in middle of a new project.  Our design architecture uses an n-tier (not MVC - no controllers) structure with Presentation, Data, Business and Service tiers.  However the lead analyst has the majoriety of code all in the Business tier claiming it all contains Business logic.  Our data tier is nothing more than a single .dbml model of the primary database to support all of the Linq queries in the Business tier.  To my mind Linq queries and classes they use are data access and belong in the data tier  but our lead analyst says they contain business logic therefore have to be in business layer.

This article examines n-tier patterns for success and some of the key APIs and issues specific to the Entity Framework. It also provides a sneak peak at features coming in the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 that should make n-tier development significantly easier.

how do i create a windows form application login for to validate username and password from sql serv

I would like to know how I can create a login form for my windows form application. The login form must be linked to a SQL server 2005 express edition database (in which the username and passwords are stored). The login form must validate the user using the database and allow them to access the program.

Data Validation in a 3 tier application

Say you have a form  designed in  Silverlight(Front end)-Asp.NEt(business layer)-SQl(bakcend)Should data validation occur on all 3 layers or just the presentation layer or  a combination of the front end with the other 2  e.g. validating an email address? I'm trying to undestand as to why if data has been validated on the presentation  why further data validation would be necessary  especially if there would be large amounts of data being validated and this could potentially slow down database transactions?

Dynamically Create a Database (LINQ to SQL)

Hello... I want to create an install script for a simple little CMS I have created for myself... I want to pass the connection string and then create my tables. I found the following example on MSDN: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb399420.aspx My question is how do I pass the username and password to the DB... or even better if there is an example of this somewhere that would be great.   Thanks!

LINQ - Can't perform Create, Update or Delete operations on because it has no primary key.

Hi, not sure if I'm posting this thread in the right section. anyway, I''m trying to do the update/insert/delete using LINQ but the underlying table does not a primary key. The table consists of composite ket (e.g. fieldA & FieldB make a primary key). At the moment, I have LINQ complaning about not having a single primary key (not sure what LINQ does it - not making any sense at all). did anyone ever come across this issue and rectified it?  thanks

Problem create a web application on SharePoint 2007 (Project Server 2007)

I installed a Project Server 2007 in a 3 server structure (all Win 2003 sp2; one for App server hosting Central Admin, Project Server service & Search service; one for web server; one for database server).  They are only in the same domain and I use the same network account for the installation as well as the WSS service account.  The same network are local admin for those 3 servers. All installation & patches seem ok (at least I don't get error messages) until I attempt to create my first Web Application.  After I filled out the web appliction and try to click OK, the page does not change and i saw the java error at the right bottom corner from my IE browser (version 6). The message is .... Create user account for web authentication from non-web/local application

Hi, I have an application which is installed on local pc and is using SQL db. It is a client management system where I want to add capability to register new clients and give them access to my web site which is sharing the same SQL database with local application. At the moment clients can register on the web site and I have ASP.NET authorisation system set up with aspnetdb_user, aspnetdb_membership and etc tables. But sometimes it happens that I need to register clients on my local application on PC and ideally would like that registration to create online account for the client as well. Then I want to be able to send him user id and password by email and let him know that he has been registered in my database and online account is ready for him as well. Basically I want to have full synchronization between asp.net membership service and local application through SQL db. As I said both online and local apps are shareing the same SQL database. I would like to know if it is possible at all and what would be the best practice to implement it. Thank you.
