I have a site that was built for SharePoint 2007, which includes a custom tree view control. I've deployed it to a SharePoint 2010 server, by adding the site as a solution, adding the feature which contains the tree view control to a newly created site,
and adding the SP2007 site's Master page to the new site.
I've tried setting the UIVersion of the site to both 3 and 4. Here's what happens:
-when UIVersion = 3, the site looks the same as it did in SP2007, except the custom tree view control is missing
-when UIVersion = 4, the custom tree view control is there and works fine, but the site looks completely different, and the formatting is really bad (eg. the tree view takes up 50% of width, content takes up the other 50%).
When I open the site (with UIVersion = 3) in SharePoint Designer 2010, the custom tree view control is there. It only seems to be missing when I actually browse the page.
There aren't any relevant warnings/errors in the logs which suggest a problem.
What I want is to have the site look exactly like it does with UIVersion = 3, but with the custom tree view control. Is there something I have to do to get a custom control/feature working with UIVersion 3?
