When creating a site template from site actions --> site settings --> save site as template i get the below error
I narrowed the problem down to a list attribute The 'NoCrawl' attribute is not allowed.
The wsp is created in the solution store but cannot be used to deploy a site, when it is used i get the same error
The 'NoCrawl' attribute is not allowed.
The site that i am saving as a template is a freshly created team site with no custom features, lists, libraries, addons of any sort. Therefore it cannot be a list or library that i have created so I thought it might be a custom webpart that is enabled on
the site collection, i went and uninstalled and removed all custom webparts from the site collection but still get the same error.
When I create a fresh web application, the save site as a template operation completes successfully.
Can anyone advise where i might start to narrow this problem down?
Thanks in advance.

I have a newly created site based "Team Site" template. Now I want to export this as a site template and use it as base in my Visual Studio 2010. Now I am not able to see the command "Save
site as template " in site settings of that team site. What I am missing here ?
But I get same "Save
site as template " when I create a site based on "Blank Site" template.
Please provide me information for how to fix this problem.
When to occur this problem in share point.
When i create save as list template and save as site templates its showing the following error below:
Unknown compression type in a cabinet folder at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.SaveWebAsTemplate(String bstrUrl, String bstrTemplateName, String bstrTemplateTitle, String bstrDescription, Boolean bSaveData)
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.SaveWebAsTemplate(String bstrUrl, String bstrTemplateName, String bstrTemplateTitle, String bstrDescription, Boolean bSaveData)
When I create a new site and plan to save it as template to create multiple new sites.
Different from MOSS 2007, I cannot find the Save Site as Template option under System Settings. What I did is to type savetmpl.aspx website and save the template.
After that, I tried to use stsadm.exe -o addtemplate command to add the template to farm, but I got another error again!
Cannot find or parse web template file c:\Templates\template.wsp.
I googled a lot websites but only found one related solution to to use stsadm.exe -o addsolution command. But after trying that, I still cannot see the template when I create new site collection via Sharepoint Central Administration.
Can anyone please help me and let me know how to fix the issue?
I am looking for a best practice for managing and applying site design changes.
For instance, in another platform, I could release a site for testing or production use, so content would be added. At some later date, a change* to the design would be needed and I would take a copy of the design only, make the change and then apply
the updated design to the existing site. Content would be maintained but the new design changes would be applied.
*A change might mean creating new functionality on an existing element, adding new elements or changing an existing element.
How best should this be done in WSS?
Thank you in advance!
I created a template off a site I made last year (without content). That site had some custom pages with webparts on them. These pages were linked to from the Quick Launch menu. I just made a new site using that template and it appears the custom
pages weren't part of the template as when I click on the links to them in the QL menu, I get a 404 page not found error. I tried again saving the template with content this time and my custom pages show up - but then I have all the lists/libraries filled
with old content. Any remedy?
I am on MOSS 2007 and can use Designer.
