We've been using the BizTalk SharePoint Adapter to load various different contents into a MOSS 2007 Document Library. The library has a MicrosoftÃÂ Office SharePoint Designer 2007 workflowÃÂ (sequential workflow created in Designer) which starts automatically when a new item is added to the Document Library. Or, at least, it eventually starts automatically.
For some unknown reason--and this is what we're hoping some of you may have some ideas on--the workflow fails to start on the first try, producing the "Failed to Start (retrying)" message. When the timer job comes back the second time, the workflow starts successfully, but this causes us to loose five minutes of potential work time (not to mention making us look bad to the VPs and CTO because they see the failure message).
In checking the log, I find the following pair of error messages each time the "Failed to Start (retrying)" status occurs:
I have created a sequential sharepoint workflow in WSP Builder in my Sharepoint Server and Deployed it.
But the workflows says Failed on start and retrying ans stops there forever says couldn't start the workflow.
I repaired .NET Framework 3.5sp1 installed
1. I tried again, in C Prompt: Lodctr "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini" it says initiation file cannot be found
2 i again tried this C prompt Lodctr /R "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini"
it says reloaded from the system restored
i am still getting the same error.
When i manually go to my C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation i can see a folder for SQL that's it nothing more than that..
I dont know what is happening i am trying it from 2 days and still no solution.
any ideas would be real great help for me.
My system is 64 bit , Window server 2008, MOSS SP2, Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.

and WSP builder the one from Codeplex for 64 bit machines
My visual Studio sequential workflow has escalation feature enabled, so the workflow will run every 5 minutes and check the task is overdue or not. If it is overdue it will escalate to another user.
My problem is, I made some changes in workflow.xml file and deployed to the server, by mistake I forget to put the closing tag in workflow.xml file. I realized my mistake and redeployed the workflow in two minutes time. The workflow log History start showing
“workflow name failed to run" (this message logs only two time with one minute difference) and the workflow went to sleep (Last run time in the workflow status page is not changing after that).
And the new instances are working perfectly, problem only for old instances.
This problem is affected for more than 400 items.
I would like to know, is there any way we can wake up the workflow and start checking the task is overdue or not.
I have one more issue recently, i had deployed the workflow with the below bat file (this time i made some changes in the code ), suddenly old instances stop working. even it does not wake up when the task status is Approved (if the task is Approved it suppose
to go to next level).
For deploying the workflow, i am just hitting the BAT file. An
When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as
"Failed to Start".
Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.
Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)
What am I missing out here??

We have critical issue w.r.t workflows in 3 site collections(Collaboration sites).
When we start a workflow for a document library/document , below error is displayed.
"The Workflow has failed due to an internal error"
We had deactivated and activated all the related workflow features at site collection level but didn't succeed.
This we have also tried using SharePoint Manager 2007 .
Could you please check and help on this issue ?
Thanks in advance.
After successfull deployment of simple workflow solution and starting it over custom list item a get an error: "Failed on Start (retrying)".
Then i tried to deploy 100 % working workflow with the same result.
I can`t even get into my first breakpoint in VS.
OOB wf work fine though.
My timer service and iis app pool are working under farm admin account.
What could possible cause this?
I have a list workflow for SP 2010 that was previoulsy working this morning and decided to "Fail on Start" at some point. I have done nothing to the list or workflow settings, I have just been working in SP Designer 2010 creating the WF. I have
searched high and low and have found all of the same answers that get me no where. The suggestions include comparing the Workflow.xml and/or feature.xml to the name .dll in the GAC.
I have no workflow.xml or feature .xml files other than what I find in my Visual Studio folders from workflows past. This time I am
not using Visual Studio. I am using SPD 2010, does it keep those files? Secondly, I find only one of my workflowname.dll's in the GAC, also from an old VS workflow. My current workflow.xml, feature.xml and currentworkflow.dll
files do not exist on my workstation or server. WHAT am I missing here??? :-(
All of the workflows within only one site collection are not working. I get a the following messages in Workflow History:
Workflow Cancelled - System Account - Workflow Name was cancelled by System Account
Error - System Account - Workflow failed to start
Here is what I get in my log:

Once again, this occurs on EVERY workflow, no matter how simple or how complex on one site collection with the same web application that
other workflows work correctly. Proper permissions are in place for SPD to add workflows. (By the way this only effects SPD workflows, no out-of-the-box SP workflows) I have disabled and reenabled all workflow features, even created a new
site collection then copied by site collection over t
I created a site using Microsoft's Room and Equipment Reservation template. I created a workflow to send an email to confirm reservation using sharepoint designer. I get the following error on workflow status: workflow failed to start

I have created a simple discussion board list with NO modifications to the fields or views. I have turned on the option to allow new items to be created via email (Allow this list to receive e-mail? = yes). In sharepoint designer I have created
a simple workflow that sets a workflow variable (type string) to 'true'. When I manually create a new discussion board item for this list, the workflow completes successfully; however, when I email in a new discussion board item, the item is created,
but the workflow fails with the "Failed on Start (retrying)" workflow status.
The workflow is set to only fire when new items are created.
how do I tell sharepoint that my visual c# devloped workflow has failed?
do i just raise an exception?
I am getting "WorkDLC Server Workflow Features 7397 Warning

Kindly help me.
I created an survey for the department i am working for. I did that at sharepoint designer 2007, then i created workflow and attached that with the survey page, i added conditions and actions when workflow is started upon item is created. But it throws me
an error saying" Failed to Start(retrying)".
I dont know what going on , I saw in ablog saying windows sharepoint services 3.0 doesnt support attaching workflow into surveys. I dont know what else can be done to make this possible.
Can you please give me some advices, i am new on this field.
