How do I set CausesValidation=false on a button that was created with Javascript?

I have a button on an ASP.NET page, and that button is (and needs to be) created via Javascript. The problem is, there are some validators on the page, and pressing the button is causing them to fire, and I don't want that to happen in this particular case. I am not sure what CausesValidation=false actually does on the page, but I was hoping to re-create it somehow.I have been trying to locate the button by using a FindControl() statement in code-behind, but that doesn't seem to be working. If it did, I could just set the CausesValidation there...Any thoughts?

Return true or false from Popup window to Parent window

Hello everybody.

I am trying to return true or false from popup window to the parent window.

Actually the parent window has a button control, which on click popup another window. The popup window holds some emailing data and a button "send". This "send" button onclick send email. Now I want to return true if the email is successfully sent otherwise false, to the parent window. Depending on returning value a label present on parent window displays a text message.

But I am not able to implement it. Because it might happen that the popup window is blocked by web-browsers popup blocker or popup window is accidentally closed by user. So how can I confirm to parent window whether or not the email is successfully sent?

Please help me.

Thank you.

DataColumn's AutoIncrement always return false

Hi

I got a table with 1 column set to auto increment(Identity column).

In my code, I have a check point to check whether it is an auto increment column.

But the problem here is that it always return false even the column is an identity column.

foreach (DataColumn drCol in dt.Columns)
                {
                    if (drCol.AutoIncrement == false)
                    {
                        stringBuilder += drCol.ColumnName;
                        stringBuilder += "=";
                        stringBuilder += "@" + drCol.ColumnName;
                        stringBuilder += ",";
                    }
                    lblError.Text = lblError.Text + drCol.AutoIncrement;
                }

Capture large text return from Javascript function

I have a Javascript function that writes a large scale of text into a div for now, but then I need to capture the text and use it in code behind. I tried to use hidden field but it has size limit so it didn't work.  The text is shown in the page, but when I view source, there is no text in the div so I couldn't use code behind to read the text from the div even though runat is server because the text is always empty. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

How can i return a value from a simple WebForm.aspx to javascript code.

Hi Experts.

How can solve this problem; Suppose you write a simple JavaScript code in form tag like this:

<script  language="javascript">

                Var type="100";

                Var result = ';

Var iframe = '<iframe src="WebForm1.aspx?"t=' + type + '"></iframe>';

Document.write(iframe);           // call WebForm1.aspx in iframe tag

Document.write(result);            //write the result that return from WebForm1.aspx

</script>

I want return the value from WebForm1.aspx and save it in result variable. How can I do?How can i return a value from WebForm1.aspx and save it in result variable?

javascript, return button properties

I thought this would be something very straight forward but I can't figure it out.

How do I return current values from a button for example button text or whether it's enabled to use in an IF statement?

This is just an example to show what I mean, but say we've got 3 buttons... The first button runs the javascript function to find out the status of the second button (whether it's enabled or disabled) and if it's disabled for example, the function will then disable the third button.

The way I tried to do it was...

<script type="text/javascript">

var btn1 = document.getElementById("Button1");

var btn2 = document.getElementById("Button2");

var btn3 = document.getElementById("Button3");

function buttonfunction() {

if (btn2.disabled = "true") {

btn3.disabled = true;

}

}

</script>

But this just seems to set btn2 to disabled every time rather than just check the status and then therefore always disables the third button?

Thanks.

ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript Snippet Support (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

This post covers another useful improvement in VS 2010 - HTML/ASP.NET/JavaScript snippet support. Snippets allow you to be more productive within source view by allowing you to create chunks of code and markup that you can quickly apply and use in your application with a minimum of character typing.

Visual Studio has supported the concept of "snippets" for VB and C# in previous releases - but not for HTML, ASP.NET markup and JavaScript. With VS 2010 we now support snippets for these content types as well.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Ajax Enabled Gridview using JavaScript in ASP.NET

Before explaining the article, I would like to thank all readers who read my article and voted for it. Your appreciation for my article gives me strength to write more good articles. Hope in future I will get your valuable comments and suggestions. Now I won't waste your time and come back to the topic. I have written this article on 'Ajax Enabled Gridview Using JavaScript in ASP.NET'. In this article, I will show you how to make a Gridview using a simple HTML table, JavaScript and XML HTTP for Ajax call without using any ASP.NET control.

Using Code

GridView Javascript Click Row and Ajax

This article shows 2 common tasks with the ASP.NET GridView: Binding a List (generic) of objects as DataSource and on clicking a row, getting the values of the selected row by a javascript function. In the example a List with User-objects is displayed. On clicking a row containing the data of a User-object, the Id of the object is used to get the address of the user by an Ajax-call and display it in a details-field.

Combine, minify and compress JavaScript files to load ASP.NET pages faster

Websites are getting more interactive these days and most of this interactivity comes from JavaScript. People are using different JavaScript libraries and frameworks to make their websites more interactive and user friendly.
