Problems deploying Report in Local Server (localhost)

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

OK, I'm kind of new to SQL Server 2008 and I'm having issues trying to deploy a report in my local server.

Basically, I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 in my personal desktop and because of this, I thought no Service Account were necessary since I was going to be the only one accesing it; anyway; I've created a set of reports and everything works fine; but when I try to deploy them, they won't go through.

I open a browser and type http:\\localhost\reportserver and it actually requests me for a password; the username is already populated, which is the name of my computer, but then for the password, I didn't set up any password for anything, during the installation and if I put my computer password, it doesn'y work either, after three attemps, the browser simply goes blank.

I'm sure this might be a very basic issue, but I've been trying to look for answer, online, through forums etc; and no good luck yet...

Thanks in advanced for all your help!

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

A connection could not be made to the report server - Problem deploying an SSRS report from Business

I’m having trouble with what seems to be a common issue for people, regarding deployment of an SSRS report from Business Intelligence Development Studio. Unfortunately none of the solution I have seen posted here (and elsewhere) have been able to help me so far.   Two of my collegaues can both deploy with no problem, and I am using exactly the same Target destinations as them (TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder, TargetServerURL).   I have posted the error message below, which from my basic understaning would indicate, I think, a security issue (perhaps something local to my PC, or user account)   Has anyone experienced this particular issue who might be able to help?   Best wishes, Jamie TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------ A connection could not be made to the report server http://turpin-net.turpin-bg.local/Reportserver. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. Problem deploying custom report item. Items shows in preview screen in VS, but not in server deploye

I have developed a custom report item that works fine in design and preview mode while in Visual Studio. I cannot get it to show up on my deployed reports. Here's what I have done so far:

1. Deployed the report using Visual Studio

2. updated the rsreportserver.config file with the following entry:

      <ReportItem Name="PedigreeChart" Type="Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.PedigreeChartRenderer, Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart" />

3. Updated the rssrvpolicy.config file with the following entry.

                    Description="This code group grants Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll FUllTrust permission. ">
                                Url="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll" />

problems column width after deploying the report

I have created a report using SSRS 2008. Report has two tables. They are almost identical(columns and rows.but data comes from two different data sets).

After deploying the report, it works fine when it is viewed on IE7. But after installing IE8, There is a problem with column width.

Width of the columns of the second table is much wider, although column width of both tables are set to a one value(1.20).

Can any one tell me how to fix this pls?

Password when deploying SSRS report to SharePoint server

Hi all,

My task is to display SSRS 2008 reports in SharePoint. Im stuck on the SharePoint - SSRS integration part.

- Installed an SQL Server 2008 instance on a machine with an MSSQL2005 installation.
- Installed SSRS 2008 in SharePoint integration mode.
- Enabled the Report Server Integration Feature in Site Settings
- Created document libraries for Reports, Data Sources
- Changed the Deploy options to:
                                                         TargetDataSourceFolder - SharePoint Data Sources Library
                                                         TargetReportFolder - SharePoint Reports Library
                                                         TargetServerURL - URL of SharePoint Site

Trying to deploy SSRS report(s) to SharePoint server, getting a Reporting Services login window (requesting username and password), but nothing works. I have seen a post about a duplicate entry in the web.config file for Reporting Services. This wasnt the case here. No duplicate entries.

I havent correctly granted database access in SharePoint server (see SharePoint Central Admin -> Application Management -> Reporting Services -> Grant Database access).

When I try this, I get the following error:

Problems in deploying WebMatrix application to a server

hi there,

I have developed a simple "test" project and the files are in .CSHTML. The application works fine locally. However, when I publish to the server, the application fails to load. It throws 404 Page Not Found error. The .CSHTML is rendered by the server though however, when it is trying to pull something from the SQL Compact database, it throws this error message.

Another thing to note down: I installed WebMatrix application on the server and I then try to run my project with this WebMatrix application. It works. In other words, the project works fine with the URL like http://localhost:8448/gallery/Item-101029, however it fails when I try to browse to it publicly via URL http://www.myDomain.com/gallery/Item-101029.

Would you please advise what did I do wrong here? I can see that the SQL compact database is in my App_data folder. Why does http://www.myDomain.com/gallery/Item-101029 fails to work? Thanks in advanced for all the advises

deploying to msdeploy does not support a proxy server

I am trying to deploy through webmatrix but my system Proxy server configuration is not being used. I assume that webmatrix would detect the proxy server settings and use that for the msdeploy calls under the hood. Can anyone confirm this is a know issue?

Data Points: Report Controls in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services

Virus Hunting: Track and Report Server Attacks Quickly and Easily with the .NET Networking Classes

To help stop the spread of worms, viruses, and other hostile activity, it is important to track down and report the servers used in these attacks along with those used to send spam. Many Web administrators, however, don't take the time to track them because the manual process can be quite cumbersome. The Microsoft .NET Framework comes to the rescue with several networking classes, including the Dns class and the TcpClient class, that abstract away the complexity of performing DNS and WHOIS lookups. These classes make it easy to create a simple, straightforward ASP.NET-based utility for performing these lookups and automating this very important task.

Cannot export from a Report in SharePoint integrated mode in a server hardend environment

We have installed Reporting Services 2008 integrated with MOSS with SQL Server 2008 on a 64 bit platform.

The environment has worked fine in test (but the servers are not hardend).

With the production environment, any attempt to export from a report into another format (eg excel, tiff etc) results in an unexpected error within SharePoint requiring closing the browser and reopening.

There are no details behind the error. We can also find no traces of the error within any of the logs (SharePoint, Reporting Services, Windows event log etc)

When the report is opened directly from Reporting Services (ie http://servername:8080/reportserver) the report exports fine. Similarly, if the report is opened directly from Report Builder 2, or through opening Report Builder 2 from SharePoint there is no issue. This issue only happens when the report is invoked directly through SharePoint.

We can only assume that this issue has something to do with server hardening/UAC as we have

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Report server URL accessible with Firefox But not with IE 8

Example : [Firefox]

http://systemname/reportserver      {accessible}

Example : [Internet Explorer]

http://IPADDRESS/reportserver    {accessible}

Deploying custom Web Parts on SharePoint 2007 production server

I would like to develop a custom SharePoint 2007 Web Part for a client. Currently I'm using Visual Studio to deploy my solution to a test environment (since it's a SharePoint Project I choose just Build -> Deploy from the menu). What are the appropriate steps to deploy it to the production server?

I'd like keep it simple and safe (i.e. use the principle of least privilege). Therefore (if possible) avoid using stsadm, achieve this through web interface, or avoid using administrative rights.

Also, can I specify the scope of my Web Part, i.e. choose on which Web Application or Site Collection will it be installed?

Pick up old local users on new server with new local users with same name

Hi, All!

I has old server with name "test", worked with SQL server 2008 and Sharepoint 2007 SP2. There was five users like "user1", "user2", etc. They have content on main page "http://test" and some data at mysite host "http://test:81". Well I create new server with the same name "test", create all users "user1", "user2", etc, then i add them to shared services profiles with the same names like in old server. Then from old server backup content base from MS SQL server for applications on 80 and 81 port, and restore them on new server. Then I make commands "stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://test -databasename wss_content_80" and "stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://test:81 -databasename wss_content_81". Then I delete databases which created when i create new web applications from sharepoint central administration. and did iisreset. Well all data and settings picked up, BUT all user ID were old. So question is: how i can compare old users to new? I want to compare old and new users everywhere in DBs wss_content_80 and wss_content_81. Like replace old ID with new ID
