Debugging custom task urgent

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I want to debug a custom ssis task, I exactly followed the micrsoft paper instuctions. Build and deploy the custom task successfully

I set a break point on InitializeTask method at the beggining then I attached to the devenv.exe(Already dragged a custom task to the scene in a separate vs instace as indicated)

I tried to change the poperties drag another custom component  into the scene but when I turn back to the project where the task source is located then the break point does not recieve the Hit action

How do I to force the break point have the hit in order to step through the code

Thank you

Parallel Debugging: Debugging Task-Based Parallel Applications in Visual Studio 2010

In Visual C++ 10 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 4, Microsoft is introducing new libraries and runtimes to significantly ease the process of expressing parallelism in your code base, together with new tool support for performance analysis and debugging of parallel applications. In this article, you will learn about debugging support in Visual Studio 2010, much of which is focused on task-based programming models.

Windows XP: Escape from DLL Hell with Custom Debugging and Instrumentation Tools and Utilities, Part

Building on his article published in the June issue, which demonstrated several ways to get process and DLL-related information from APIs such as PSAPI, NTDLL, and TOOLHELP32, the author presents some unusual ways to get system-oriented info that you can easily integrate in your own toolkit. There are three tools included as samples: LoadLibrarySpy, which monitors an application and detects which DLLs are really loaded; WindowDump, which retrieves the content and a detailed description of any window; and FileUsage, which redirects console-mode applications to tell you which process is using any opened file.

Windows XP: Escape from DLL Hell with Custom Debugging and Instrumentation Tools and Utilities

DLL conflict problems can be tough to solve, but a large number of tools are available to help. There are also many Windows APIs that you can use to build custom debugging tools. Three such tools are discussed here and provided as samples. DllSpy lists all the DLLs loaded in the system and the processes that are using them. ProcessSpy enumerates the running processes and exposes the DLLs they are using, and ProcessXP displays the list of concurrent running sessions for Windows XP.

Active Scripting APIs: Add Powerful Custom Debugging to Your Script-Hosting App

Active Scripting is a powerful tool for adding advanced features such as macro capabilities to custom applications. This creates a need for integrated debugging services for new features added with scripting. To address this need, Microsoft has provided a set of COM interfaces for developing debugging services from within the Active Scripting framework. This article illustrates how to use the debugging services published within the Active Scripting framework to create a full-featured script debugger that can provide a multitude of debugging actions including setting breakpoints, call stack viewing, variable browsing, immediate-window viewing, thread enumeration, and application enumeration.

How to detect that a Data Flow Task has failed (from inside a custom componet)

Hi, in the PostExecute Method of a custom component i would like to check if the Data Flow Task has been failed. Is that possible? Also it would be great to be able to check if this custom component already got all data or has been marked as "green".  Thanks, Dennis

I have SQL server 2008 entrprise edition Other question, should I use Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design and  Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS which are missed too, or they are part of the 2005 version only Thank you   The complexity resides in the simplicity

When a Task Expired step in a Start Custom Task Process action is not fired?!

When a Task Expired step is not fired?! I created a simple Workflow using the SharePoint Designer. Added one step to which I added the Start Custom Task Process and set the Due Date "2 minutes after now". For the When a task Expired step of the custom Task I added a Log to History List action, which doesn't seems to be fired. What good be wrong??? All the steps I did to create the workflow: Started SP Designer 2010 and created a reusalbe WF. Added Start Custom Task Process action to step 1. Changed the behavior of the When a task Expired stepof the custom task (added a Log to History List action). Changed the behavior of the Before Task is Assigned by adding a Set Field action which set the Due Date of the task to "Now + 2 minutes". Published the WF and started the WF for a simple list item. Unfortunately the Log to History List actionof the When a task Expired step is never called.

my custom control flow task's ui failed to create the task...

SSIS custom task calling web services response errors.

Hi             I have some code within a .Net 3.5 library which call a web service.  The web proxy class was created using WSDL command line tool.  Also the library is wrapped within .Net console, for testing the library works, and SQL Server Integration Services custom task, which is intended to use so that it will be part of the ETL process.    If I run the SSIS custom task and console application on a Windows XP everything works as expected.    However I am currently facing a problem where the response from the web service is not being interpreted correctly when running within the SSIS custom task on windows server 2008 R2, whereas the response from the web service is correctly understood when running the library within console application on the same server.    Has anyone come across this problem before or know any issues with SSIS and .Net libraries which call web services?

Can't Add Custom Task Process

I am trying to add a custom task process to a workflow in sharepoint designer , but i am asked to enable Sharepoint Standard Server Standard Site features.  So I go to Site settings and under Manage Site features I enable it.  It is still giving me the same error message.  Am I missing something here?     Thanks, Jaime

Custom SSIS task inteface building issue

Hi all,

I'm tying to use the class foundation that SSIS provides to build interfaces like those of built in tasks

I tried to follow this tutorial

I added a Display text property to my task in order to display it when the task is fired, every thing goes well

except three  issues

1. The display value is not persisted( when I change it from the GUI inteface. It is only persisted if it is updated from the BIDS properties grid)

2. The buttons OK, Cancel, Help are not displayed at the buttom of the interface such in the rest of built in tasks, should I add them programmatically and  if it is the case how  do I to persist properties values when user clicks OK.

3. Some cells in the properties grid shows a combo box like those configuring  connection managers. For example one can expand the combo box and selects <New Connection...>

Or when one property grid cell get the focus then ellipses button appears when he/she clicks then the OpenDialogResult opens up

Or if one selects some properties grid cells then the properties grid changes by

Custom Task Type Name Issue

I am developing a custom task in VB.NET using VS2008.

My Project sets the Assembly Name to MyCompany.Dts.Tasks.MyTask, the Root Namespace is MyCompany.Dts.Tasks

All my classes define the namespace as MyCompany.Dts.Tasks

When I compile the class library, and view the component in the "Choose Toolbox Items" dialog in VS, the Type Name is:

Where is this extra decoration coming from?
