CLR type reflection when creating a channel using the ChannelFactory

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF
In the Xsd that represents our canonical model, a complex type has various choices (several xsd:elements within xsd:choice) – i.e. the property when deserialized into C# has several XmlElement attributes decorated above it….

[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("exampleRequest1", typeof(ExampleRequest1))]

[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("exampleRequest1", typeof(ExampleRequest2))]

[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("exampleRequest1", typeof(ExampleRequest200))]

[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("exampleRequest1", typeof(ExampleRequest201))]

Design Patterns: Creating Dynamic Factories in .NET Using Reflection

Design patterns are a powerful tool for designing flexible soft-ware. They provide well-tested solutions to recurring software design problems. One such widely used pattern is the Concrete Factory.

Delegates in .NET: A Primer on Creating Type-Safe References to Methods in Visual Basic .NET

Delegates, new in Visual Basic .NET, are type-safe, object-oriented references to methods. By using delegates, you make your methods accessible to others and therefore more extensible. This article provides an introduction to delegates, their benefits, and how they are used.Here the author shows you how to declare, create, and use delegates to invoke instance and shared methods at run time, and how to implement delegates as properties. He then goes on to provide examples of how delegates are used for callback functionality and explains the relationship between delegates and events. Finally, the article provides a glimpse at how delegates are implemented in intermediate language code by the Visual Basic .NET compiler.

Creating a table-valued function on a user defined type in SQL Server CLR

We would like to be able to create a table-valued function on a user defined type.  We would like the syntax in SQL to look like it works for the XML nodes function:   DECLARE @myXml XML = '<a><b>1</b><b>2</b><b>3</b></a>' ; SELECT  node.query('text()') FROM    @myXml.nodes('a/b') nodes (node) ;   In other words, in the FROM clause, we can access the "nodes" method of the xml variable and it returns a rowset. Thanks!

Creating a custom drop down field type with SelectedIndexChanged Event

Hi All, I am trying to create a custom drop down field type and I was able to acheive that using the MS link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb861799.aspx. As per the link, once the custom field is created we can override the "Validate" method to write the Validation logic and that works fine for me too. However I am facing a challenge even before going to Validate . Let me explain my actual requirements here. I need to build a custom drop down field and expose the field to the user in "Edit Properties " Page of a document library. Along with this field, I will be having some OOB site columns in the Edit Properties Page (Ex: Title, Subject etc)  . When user selects a value in the drop down, I need to hide/show few OOB site columns based on certain criteria.  I am facing a challenge of how to capture the "SelectedIndexChanged " event for the Custom drop down field in Sharepoint (Can we wire the SelectedIndexChanged event to a custom dropdown field type) ? Is this acheivable in SP 2010 Custom field type ? If so, how can I do it ? Can any of you kindly help me here?   Regards, Yesh

Creating Content Type in a Hub and creating lists based on this content type

I am building a prototype of a Sharepoint app and I am new to this technology. We have a need for a piece with News items. Someone comes to a sharepoint site and adds a news piece there. This news content piece needs to be approved and to do that approver goes to a staging environment where they can see this news post in proper context (of how it would look in production) and can approve it. If they reject it, news piece never gets propagated to pro environment which also subscribes to this content type.  What I did was I created content type hub with a "News" content type in a Content Type hub and subscribed other sites to this hub. I can see this content type in subscribing sites.

I have following questions regarding this problem:

- Is it the right architecture for such a task?

- I am trying to create a list which would manage adding and editing of news items but I can't find any option to bind a custom list with content type, I can add site columns to a list but I am not able to base a list on a content type.

Thanks for your input.

Creating new Tracking type record

Hi all,

My extreme lack of understanding Sharepoint and its terminology is likely the reason why I'm about to ask this question. But I'm sure its a simple answer that's apeared many times in these forums. Sorry about the repeat.

I've created at a site level, a "Tracking" type list. Similar to the out of box "Issue Tracking" or "Tasks" lists. Now I'd like to programatically add records to it from a C# .Net app. I'm able to upload files to lists. But this is a new record that has no associated file upload.

Can anyone direct me to a programming resouce or drop some sample code where I can work out how?

Thanks much!

Reflection: Type.GetMethod using int for enum parameter

we are using a "device system" here which is using reflection to invoke methods.

Consider this class:

public class Test
  public void SetDayOfWeek(DayOfWeek day)

MethodInfo m =
    BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.Public,
    new Type[] { typeof(int) }, null);

m is null - probably because I am passing an int as the enum parameter DayOfWeek.

Is there any way to have an int be accepted as enum parameter in such a lookup?
