How to start/stop SharePoint 2010 Services manually?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

I am new to SP 2010.  Recently, I installed SharePoint 2010 on Windows 7 (4GB RAM), which is taking up most of my system RAM and I am unable to run any New Virtual PC within my Host.  I would like to start/stop SharePoint 2010 manually on this PC.

What are the steps (in proper sequence) involved to start/stop all SharePoint 2010 related services manually?

Thanks & Regards,

Unable to start/stop SharePoint 2010 service

Hi.

I've developed customs SharePoint 2010 Service based on this tutorial: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dtaylor/archive/tags/calculator+service+example/

My first version inherits from SPIisWebService (and SPIisWebServiceInstance, SPIisWebServiceApplication etc..) - everything worked fine.

Then I redesigned my service to inherits from SPWindowsService (and SPWindowsServiceInstance, SPWindowsServiceApplication etc...). Everything works fine without one thing:) - I'm not able to start or stop Service (neither from PowerShell nor SP Central Admin page). After installed my service, it is started. When I uninstall it and install once again - it's still started.

When I try to stop it (or start on clear SharePoint environment), I've got the following exception (where IntegrationService is the name of my service)

System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: IntegrationService

at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWindowsServiceInstance.Provision(Boolean start)

SharePoint 2010 Long Starting if start workflow programatically

In SharePoint 2010, I'm starting workflow #2 programatically from my workflow #1. See code below:

					SPList currentList = web.Lists[new Guid(ListId)];
					SPListItem currentListItem = currentList.GetItemById(ListItem);

					//resolve any lookup parameters
					string workflowId = base.ProcessStringField(WorkflowIdentifier);

					//find workflow association by name
					SPWorkflowAssociation workflowAssoc = currentList.WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName(workflowId, Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture);

					if (workflowAssoc != null)
					{
						//start the workflow
						SPWorkflow workflow = site.WorkflowManager.StartWorkflow(currentListItem, workflowAssoc, workflowAssoc.AssociationData, SPWorkflowRunOptions.Synchronous);
					}

And workflow #2  will hang with Starting status (1-10 minutes), Then the workflow #2 status would be modified  to Completed.

I couldn't find how to start the workflow # 2 immediately and complete immediately without several minutes delay

How to upgrade from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010 after mistanely de

I need a detailed instruction on how to upgrade From Upgrading from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0  (SBS 2003 ) to SharePoint Foundation 2010.

Background of the case:

I have all my databases (STS-database and STS_Config) saved but, I forgot to save my Virtual Site )Companyweb site) and I mistakenly re-installed IIS on the SBS 2003, hence  I lost the companyweb site. Is this an issue to migrate to Sharepoint foundation 2010. The Sharepoint foundation 2010 is running on a Microsoft HyperV Server 2008 R2
Also, I have created a Virtual 2003 SRV ENT with Sharepoint Services 3.0 running on it. I also have attached my Databases STS_Database and STS_Config)... how do I get it working like a regular website. I have modified the CNAME record to reflect the new server... http://companyweb - it take me to the new site but it loads a blank page. I did create a new CompanyWeb Virtual site on the VHD 2003 server.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt response. Nelson
