Data binding - strange error message

Hi, I am getting an inexplicable error message on attempting to run a simple WPF data binding application based on an example with video downloaded from MSDN. VB / VS 2008 Pro / .NET 3.5 SP1 / XP SP3 The error (ex.Message) is "The specified registry key does not exist" in response to an attempt to define the data context to populate a listbox, but no explicit registry operation is involved at all. The code is: Private taTable1 As New D1DataSetTableAdapters.Table1TableAdapter Private D1Data As New D1DataSet . . . Try     Me.taTable1.Fill(Me.D1Data.Table1)     Me.DataContext = Me.D1Data.Table1        ' this statement generates the exception Catch ex As Exception The error message is giving no obvious clue.  What is going on? P.S. The MSDN sample application uses the following code to sort the listbox items: Me.DataContext = From p In Me.dsProduct.Product Order By p.Name This construct does not work when I try to use it - VS 2008 reports that "'Name' is not a member of 'System.Data.DataRow'".  How may this error be avoided? Error: "Select statements included within a function cannot return data to a client"

hi all, Not sure if there is an easier way to do this but this is my first ever Function I created so far. I am getting the error: "Select statements included within a function cannot return data to a client" All I am trying to do is ...if the date is NOT passed then apply NULL as the default value and run the SELECT statement. If the date IS NOT null then run a different SELECT statement. Begin Select * From Uds.RealtimeLogging Where instanceID = @instance End Else Begin Select * From Uds.RealtimeLogging Where instanceID = @instance and [timeStamp] > @date End Return @stepIds END Thank you!JCD

Getting error message and other data back from SSIS to managed code

Hi,

From a SharePoint workflow we are trying to synchronously execute an SSIS package - which seems to work - and display error messages and return some variables back to SharePoint.

I followed the "Running a Package Remotely by Calling a Remote Component or Service" instructions on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms403355.aspx and executing and parameterizing the package does not seem to be a problem. But the SSIS package does a lot of plausibility checking and raises an error (RAISERROR in T-SQL or Error

throw exception message giving internal server error on live site

using vb.net/asp.net 2005

when a user enters a bad email I am doing a check on this and throwing an exception message as follows, this works fine on the test site but for some reason the same code on the live site gives a "internal server error" (http code 500).  The code below:

            If isThisEmailValid(strEmailThatTheUserEntered) Then
		'do something

            Else

Throw New Exception("You entered a bad email address.")

            End If

not certain why this is happening, I assume that it's some server or config difference between the test and live sites.  has anyone seen this before?  For a quick fix i'm registering javascript alert and showing the same text so it works but I would like to figure out why the code above is not working.

as always, thanks for your feedback

Error Message: String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated

Hello,

I have the following problem.

When I edit a field in the SQL Server Management Studio Express then I get the following error:

Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Error Message: String or binary data would be truncated.

The statement has been terminated

When I use the SQL update commando, it works fine.

Fore debugging we need to change the enabled field several times.

Is there a solution fore this?

Getting "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131904" error message

Hi,

I intermitently received the "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131904" error message on my Sharepoint site.  For example, it pops up when I try to add a folder in a document library.

What could be my problem?

Thanks!

Show friendly error message if no data is existing

Hello,

my reports shows an irritating error message to the end users, they don`t understand it:

"Error while Rendering: The CommandText expression for the query ‘Header’ contains an error: Index was outside the bounds of the array."

Cause : They submitted a query for a date where no data was existing

I tried the following:

1) I dont get an Error Code Number, so I cannot work with IIS Custom Error Pages.

2) Then I tried to use this expression in the visbility tab of tablix "Header":

=IIF(Count(Fields!Date.Value, "Header")=0, True, False)

But that does not work because the date field is not emtpy, the date just does not fit to the existing records

3) I also tried to wrap this around my SELECT-statement but without success:

and not exists (select 1 from my Database where ….)

any other ideas are welcome!
Ragnar

an error occured while rendering navigation for requested url:/. Exception message: the given key wa

I have added a new server to my MOSS 2007 farm and completed the SharePoint configuration wizard. To test I have stopped the WP3 service on the first server (SPS01) and started the service on the newly added server (SPS02). When I hit the site the global navigation and the left navigation show error: an error occured while rendering navigation for requested url:/. Exception message: the given key was not present in the dictionary. If I stop the WP3 service on SPS02 and start it gain on SPS01 and hit the site again it works fine. The SPS02 is Windows Server 2008 R2 and SPS01 is Windows Server 2003. Does anyone know what configuration adjustment I need to make on the 2008 R2 server to render my navigation when someone hits the site through that server?

But still, no luck... Whats up with this admin account?

Crawl Error - Error in the Site Data Web Service. (Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException'

I have a Sharepoint site that includes a WIki library.  Recently searches have stopped returning any hits from the Wiki pages.  (Search hits from documents and discussions are correctly returned.)  When I check the crawl log from Shared Services Admin site, I see the following error every time a crawl is performed:
