Whre are the CDN servers and can I use them with

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a few questions regarding the MS CDN edge servers.  Can they be used with VWD 2008(.NET 3.5)?  Can someone please point me to a good article on this?

My site is being hosted in California but the users will be on the east coast.  This project will use them for AJAX validation extenders and one update panel only.  Will I see a difference with this situation?

Does anyone know of a map that shows where the CDN edge servers are and/or how many there are?

Data Points: Updating Data in Linked Servers, Information Schema Views, and More

Every day a developer somewhere needs to write code to iterate through SQL ServerT system objects, query and update tables in linked servers, handle optimistic concurrency, and retrieve column and stored procedure metadata.

Taming the Stateless Beast: Managing Session State Across Servers on a Web Farm

Running a Web farm means managing session state across servers. Since session state can't be shared across a Web farm with Internet Information Services 5.0, a custom solution is required. One such solution using a tool called the session manager is described here. The article begins with a description of the SQL Server database used to store state information, the stored procedures used to update it, and the retrieval of session data. ASP code drives the session manager tool and the COM and COM+ components that run the stored procedures.

Windows 2000: Asynchronous Method Calls Eliminate the Wait for COM Clients and Servers

Windows 2000 is the first version of COM to support asynchronous method calls, which permit clients to make nonblocking calls to COM objects and objects to process incoming calls without blocking the calling threads. COM clients benefit from asynchronous method calls because they can continue working while waiting for outbound calls to return. Objects benefit because they can queue incoming calls and service them from a thread pool. Our SieveClient and SieveServer sample apps demonstrate how to create and use asynchronous clients and servers in COM-based distributed applications.

SQL 2008 servers and MOSS 2007 with SSRS

I need help figuring out the limitations in a multi-database server environment and MOSS 2007 installation with SSRS.  Here is the run down:

  • I currently have MOSS 2007 server with backend on SQL 2005, which also acts as the SSRS server.  In addition I have another SQL 2005 server where business data resides and against which most of the SSRS reports run.
  • Future plan (over which I don't really have a say) is MOSS 2007 with backend on SQL 2008, which will remain to be the SSRS server.  The second SQL server with business data will be migrated to SQL 2008 R2.

Questions: does this architecture requires SSRS 2008 add-in or SSRS 2008 R2 add-in (integrated mode)?  Will there be an issue of building SSRS 2008 reports that go after SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 data mix?

how to move SSAS applications between windows servers

Hi All, We have separate windows servers hosting production and development environments.  Each environment consists of MS SQL Server and SSAS, studios, etc.  What would be the best way to move MS SQL Server databases and SSAS objects from one server to another?  I have been looking for some import/export applications but have not been able to find anything. Thanks for any help, Thanks, Roscoe

Enumerate SQL servers

Anyone have any information about enumerating SQL servers on a network without DMO or .NET?

Current thought by MS on virtualizing SQL Servers

Interconnectivity Between SQL Servers 1033 and 1027

Writer Daniel S. Abrahamian discusses interconnectivity between SQL servers 1033 and 1027 when (cid=1033). There appears to be significant overlap between the two SQL servers, with many users lamenting over a noticeable drag period when utilizing the 1033 server. Users accessing their emails on the 1027 server while utilizing the 1033 server share a distinct level of interconnectivity, although there is not necessarily a signicant distinction between the two. Service switching has become an unavoidable adjustment and must therefore be handled as such. I have heard many users of Yahoo email services lament that the shift from MG4 to MG5 included a noticeable drag period and decreased speed when accessing email services.

Collecting data from multiple servers

I have a list of about 500 servers that I am trying to connect to and collect various amounts of information from these servers through one query. I'd like to have something that doesn't involve OS batch scripting or using SQLCMD as the SQL Instances range from SQL 2000 through SQL 2008 R2. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what to do to accomplish this?Big Ern

Accessing two SQL servers simultaniously in C#

Hi all, we want to connect two different SQL servers in our application (in C#). With Linked server, unless we manually run some query (like SELECT * ....) in T-SQL query browser the linked server will not get initiated and can't be used in application. And with OPENDATASOURCE method, it works fine only if we use system IP address (TCP/IP). With system name (Named pipe if am not wrong) this method some time fails as follows: ERROR [42000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [5]. ERROR [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Login timeout expired". ERROR [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "(null)" returned message "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.". what may be wrong here? Any suggestions/guidence please. RVandakar

How to distribute web applications among web front end servers

I have a three WFE and a SQL server in my farm. I have 9 web applications.  (every web application has its own app. pool & web site on IIS) When I create a web application on CA it creates it on all 3 WFE servers. (I can see on their IIS manager) Is there a way to separete them? I mean I want 1 web application to be separeted on a WFE, I want to dedicate 1 wfe for that web application. Is there a way to do that? Or at least is there a way to divide/distribute  web applications between servers? (3 pairs, each on one)
