Cannot Access Security Tab in ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool

As the title suggests, I am having difficulties accessing the security tab. The error I keep receiving is "Unable to connect to SQL server database." I try to choose a data store and the only option I am given is AspNetSqlProvider. When I click "Test," it tells me to launch aspnet_regsql, configure the database, then come back and try it again. After configuring it to use AspNetSqlProvider, I still get the same persistent error.

I am using Visual Studio Team System 2008 and SQL Server 2005. Any help is appreciated.

Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy Access Denied on Tenant Administration Site

Hi, I am currently implementing a Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy solution. Multi-tenancy is the partitioning of service applications in 2010 to allow data to be separated between web applications or site collections. I am using multi-tenancy to separate data and user profiles between site collections hosted on a single web application. I have partitioned the User Profile Service Application and Proxy using Windows Powershell. The paritioned Proxy Application is then associated with the single web application. I am also using the Sharepoint Foundation Subscription Service Application to subscribe to different site collections within the web application. In this way data and user profiles can be separated. However, the tenant administration site, used to manage each collection, does not allow administrator access to manage the User Profile Service. I receive a standard Sharepoint 'Access Denied' error message. No other errors or details are provided. I have tried assigning different accounts to the tenant administration site but the error still appears. The issue arises when I issue the following SPSite Powershell cmdlet: NEW-SPSite -Owneralias DOMAIN\Username -Secondaryowneralias DOMAIN\Username. The attributes provided in the Cmdlet above are used to assign tenant site administrators however, the accounts cannot access the User Profile Service. Any ideas or recommendati

ASP.net Web Site Administration Tool. An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page a

I have just installed Visual Studio 2010 trial. Previously I have been using Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 Express. Now every time I try to invoke the ASP.net Cofiguration tool either via the icon or through the Project File Menu item, I get the error message "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again." I am trying to develop a bog standard Silverlight Business Application. There are no other diagnostics. Is there anywhere I can look for more clues or anything else to do to alleviate the problem? or is this something peculiar to the trial version I am using?   I also think it might have something to do with the fact that I have created this Silverlight Business App on a directory on my D: drive and not the normal, default c: drive path and maybe the web sit admin tool is looking somewhere else. Could this have something to do with it? If so what is my remedy?   Help please.....

Invalid postback or callback argument in Web Site Administration Tool

I get the following when I try to manage access rules in the ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool.  Does anybody have idea why this might be anf how to fix?

An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again.

Provisioning: Use Web Services Provisioning to Control Access, Usage, and Billing on Your Site

Building Web Services to provide enterprise-level solutions is only the first step. You need to take care of the infrastructure aspects of your solution as well, including provisioning, billing, security, and reporting. In this article, the author uses the .NET Framework and SQL Server 2000 to design a provisioning system that will take care of all these housekeeping tasks. He discusses the general requirements of a Web Service provisioning system, walks through the implementation, and then outlines various scenarios for putting this system to work.

A Simple XML-driven Tool: Monitor Your Web Site's Activity with COM and Active Scripting

This article describes a simple Web site monitoring tool built with XML, JScript, Windows Script Host, and COM objects. Although it is not intended to replace complete Web site monitoring software products, it has many useful features that help to keep Web servers up and running. An XML configuration file specifies which Web sites to monitor and the actions to be taken if the site isn't functioning properly. In addition, the tool can be scheduled to run at any specified interval using the Windows Task Scheduler. Functions that probe the sites, log events, and send e-mail notifications are written in JScript.

Turning off Crawling the Central Administration site?

What are the ramifications of "hiding" the Central Administration site from search?

Share Point integrated SSRS reports rendering when access from external site

Web Site Admin Tool - cannot establish connection

I have a question with this tool.  I have a database listed in the App_folder, and the database has a connection in Server explorer.  The connection string is listed in the web.config file, and I am able to add users and roles with the Web Admin Tool.  However, when in the Web Admin Tool, under Configuration tab, I receive an error when I click on the "test" button.  The error reads

" Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."

How can this be, and how do I correct this?

Sharepoint site client access denied

I have an sharepoint application which was working fine.

I encountered a license expired message in sql server enterprise evaluation 2008 version after which i changed the date to 2 months earlier date, I have also changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\ConfigurationState to 3 after which sql server started working but the issue is that the clients are unable to access the sharepoint site completely. On providing the url the web site requests for logon information and then access is denied. The same url with the same authentication credentials is accessible from the server and the entire application works fine from the server.

From the  client the below error page appears.

You are not authorized to view this page

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

Please try the following:

  • Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page.

Sharepoint 2010-Site Anonymous access

i have enabled Anonymous access for my site , and also turned the option 'Entire Site' under Anonymous Access but still i am prompted for the authentication when i try to access the Site. is there any solution for this .....???

All Users (Including Site Collection Admins) receiving Access Denied from one Site Collection

I usually spend my time in the forums answering questions.  But this time I need the help. I’ve got a client who somehow has succeeded in locking EVERYONE out of one of their Site Collections.  Users can authenticate to the site, but get an accessdenied page when you try to access anything in the site collection, including pages served from the _Layouts virtual directory.  The AccessDenied page shows that they are authenticated, but not authorized.  This is true for Site Collection admins and user’s who have been given Grant Full Control via a Web Application Permission Policy.  Central Admin and one other site collection are behaving normally.  I've already checked for database permissions - the service account can access the database fine. I've also checked for a locked database or overextended quota.  It's not that either. The accessdenied page url references the users list in the root of the site collection as the offending list denying access.   Does anyone have any ideas?Paul Stork SharePoint Server MVP

How to get the list of all Site Collections that a user has access to

Is there any other way of doing it?  Manesh K

Creating and sharing new sharepoint site to internet, limiting user access

I am a new hire into an existing business as I.T. I know the networking, I know the computers. The owner now wants me to learn Sharepoint among some other things. They currently use WSS 3.0. I have been reading up on this for the last month. I think I am ready to extend the current site to make it an Internet site so the employees can login. Some other things we would like to do I have read up on and it looks like they can be done, things such as inventory tracking in collaboration with QuickBooks and creating a website / portal for clients to have a unique login on and can see the status of their jobs in custom SharePoint lists. As far as I can tell the clients need an AD account. However, apart from that I am not sure what to do. A little background.  The company has multiple clients, and we ship things out daily to those clients.  We use Sharepoint to track the status of the jobs as they progress through the stages ultimately going to delivery. There is one common page that lists all the jobs by all clients that is updated constantly. We would like to allow multiple (different) clients/logins and have a page customized for each client.  For example, you are a client and go to www.companyname.com/sharepointsite.html.  From there you would get to a portal page with a login. Once logged in you will be presented with the Shar
