How do you reference a Path stored as a resource?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
I basically want to store a Path in XAML resources and reference the resource from other elements in XAML.  I probably need to set x:Shared="False", but I basically need to reference the path resource from another <Path /> tag. More simply, can you get one XAML element to bind to another element of the same type, rather then just binding the properties?  This time I want to do this with a Path.  I would like to store the whole Path as a resource and reference it.  I know you can store shape data using Geometry values and Styles, but I would rather just store the entire Path as a resource and reference it from a <Path/> tag.

how to pass XML file path as input string to a Stored Procedure

Hello All,

I need to pass the file path (or hardcode the XML file path ) of an XML file to a stored procedure. This SP will then read the values from the XML file and based on these values the Insertion / updation will be done thereafter.

I am not able to pass the XML file path to this stored procedure.  Right now I an doing as givn below :

DECLARE @idoc int
DECLARE @doc varchar(1000)
SET @doc ='
  <add key="approvalMode" value="On" />
EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @idoc OUTPUT,'c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\HealthandSafety\Aspx\ApprovalMode.xml'

FROM OPENXML (@idoc,'/configuration/appSettings/add',0)
      WITH ([key]  varchar(10),
            value varchar(20))
EXEC sp_xml_removedocument @idoc

Here any change in the xml file needs to be changed in the SP too. This will lead to double work as later on this SP will be made as an SQL job.

Is there a way I can pass or hardcode the XML file path in the SP rather than duplicating the XML file contents again

Please advice!!

FOR XML PATH and WITH XMLNAMESPACES - how do I NOT output a Namespace Reference for some PATHs?

I have an SQL Server 2005 query, that uses FOR XML PATH... to output the XML. Due to the complexity of the XML being output, I use correlated subqueries to output portions of the XML. Each subquery uses FOR XML PATH... to output composites within that 'chunk' of the XML. This works fine, i.e. the XML is output as I expect it to be/as I need it to be. We also need to use namespaces for some tags. The namespaces work as well - except that the references for the namespaces seem to be output within every composite defined within every FOR XML PATH... statement. I want the references only output within the 'top' or 'root' xml tag/composite, instead of every tag/composite defined within a PATH('...') option somewhere. Another way to say that is, I only want the Namespace references output for the PATH defined within the query itself, NOT for any PATHs defined within subqueries. An example from the query itself is: SELECT ( SELECT PhoneNumber AS '@communicationNumber', 'TELEPHONE' AS '@communicationChannelCode' FROM TableName tn3 WHERE tn3.ID = tn1.ID FOR XML PATH('communicationChannel'), TYPE ), ( SELECT FaxNumber AS '@communicationNumber', 'TELEFAX' AS '@communicationChannelCode' FROM TableName tn2 WHERE tn2.ID = tn1.ID FOR XML PATH('communicationChannel'), TYPE ), 'EN' AS 'personOrDepartme

Reference for timer jobs or stored procedures?

I've been searching the web but have only been able to find really minimal (a couple short vague sentences at best?) information for SharePoint 2010 concerning its timer jobs and what actions they are actually taking. The same has been true of its databases.

Might anyone know of a special hidden place to find such information, even at a relatively high level? =)

I do not seek to modify any schema or make updates outside of the API and I wouldn't suggest such to anyone either! It would just be nice to have even the slightest amount of general public information in these areas.

For example: A content database has a stored procedure called proc_DefragmentIndices. It might be useful to know in what case(s) is this called and at what rate? Is there a timerjob that uses it? Or a timerjob that uses it conditionally based on the result of another time job? Are there other internal routines which run surreptitously performing X task(s)? One just can't know up front as there is no documentation to tell either way.

A goal may be to have a basic reference by which one could plan and optimize their own routines and processes, to avoid errors, and in support of the system and its integrity. Free knowledge!

Please kindly pardon if this is my ignorance and I have totally walked

A better way to reference your wizard steps using named steps

By far the most common way that I see wizard steps reference in code snippets is by their index.

Transact-SQL Built-In Stored Procedures

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.

reference from menubuttons to text parts in article on the same page

Hi, I'm searching now for hours but couldn't find it.Cry

In my menu i have several buttons which (by a <a href..) should go the a part of an article that is in the same form.

Menu button : What is a database should go to the page default.aspx and in there is an article published.
A part of this article is having a piece of text about "what is a database"

Menu button: how to make a query should go to this same article in the same page but then to the part that is have the piece about the query. The next could be an example of what i'm doing:

    <li><a href="default.aspx ?????>what is a database</a></li>
    <li><a href="default.aspx ?????>what is a query</a></li>

Where my question marks are, there should be a connection to that particular piece of text.
In each article part there is an ID="text1" and the second part id="text2"

How shoudl i do that, Should i use a question mark.
Please give me some guidance how to structure the <li> statement or a pointer where I can read about it.

Printing resource files

I have some resource files for localization and would like to print them. When I try to print them in Visual Studio (with File -> Print...) the button is disabled. Does anyone know how to print them? (Without copying each into word or excel)

Thanks and regards,

Inserting rows via stored procedure and under certain conditions

I'm using Dynamic Data with Entity Framework in VS2010.

Let's say my table has these fields:

PersonID (FK)
LocationID (FK)

Hypothetical scenario (it's easier for me to explain this way, so just bear with me for now)... But let's say each row in the table represents "how many items were sold by such-and-such employee at such-and-such location," where location and person are foreign keys which are referencing other tables.  Basically, there should be no more than a ONE row which has a particular combination of Person and Location.  Makes sense?

So, when inserting new rows using my Dynamic Data app, the insert form displays editable fields for Person (dropdown), Location (dropdown), and Items Sold (textbox).  How do I prevent users from inserting another row into the table containing an already-existing combination of Person and Location?   How do I displaying useful feedback to them in the event that they DO attempt to do this?

I have several thoughts about this, but since I'm new to Dynamic Data, I'm not sure which way to go.  For example:

Option 1:  Use "cascading dropdowns" approach in the insert form and only pull in the "allowed" combinations of the two dropd

Creating a user friendly alias for the website path

 Hello mates,

I am hosting my ASP.NET application on a Windows 2003 Server.

To browse to my application one has to type the path :http://serverName/applicationName

I want users to only type  applicationName on the web adress area.I believe there is something to do with alias and CNAME on DNS records that can adress this.

Any help on how to go about doing this will be highly appreciated.

Creating A Stored Procedure Which Searches Team Names

I'm have on my web page a text search box which I want users to type in there favourite football team and this will display a gridview of the teams with the replica shirts I offer.

This is where I thought about creating a stored procedure to carry out this task.

I looked online for ideas but I not found anything as yet.

If anyone done anything similar to my request please let me know.
