Cannot bring forward and display different grid views within a master grid

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

I have 3 grids within a master grid, all of the same size. When designing on WPF Designer VS 2010, there is no way I can scroll and bring forward a different grid. Or am I missing something.  Clicking on Document Outline does not help. The properties pane changes to the new grid, but the designer still shows the old grid. Help would be appreciated.

 VB.Net Code

Protected Sub btnSearch_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnSearch.Click
        Try
            Dim connectionString As String = "Database=Job;" & "Data Source=localhost;" & "User Id=root;Password=XXX"
            Dim query As String = "SELECT * FROM ship where PacklistNo='" + txtSearch.Text + "'"
            Dim connection As New MySqlConnection(connectionString)
            Dim da As New MySqlDataAdapter(query, connection)
            Dim ds As New DataSet()
            If da.Fill(ds) Then
                dgResults.DataSource = ds.Tables(0)
                dgResults.DataBind()
            End If
            connection.Close()
        Catch ex As Exception
            Console.WriteLine(ex.Message)
        End Try
    End Sub

  2. Children Grid (list) - null FiledValue - Foreign Key not showing display name

    Hello,

    Based on I Stephen's blog post (http://csharpbits.notaclue.net/2008/08/dynamic-data-and-field-templates.html) I some what managed to embed Child gridview in a grid view.

    Issue I am running into is: display name doesn’t appear for Foreign Keys. After little investigation I realized that "FieldValue" is null which is causing the issue.

    Does anyone know what can cause FieldValue to be null for FieldTemplateUserControl?

    I am using VS2010 and EF

    Here what the issue look like in the UI ( https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/SLNXD79uek0QSq5NNK-niQ?feat=directlink )

    Here is codebehind for ChildrenGrid

    using System;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Web.DynamicData;
    using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
    using System.Collections.Generic;

    public partial class ChildrenGrid_Field : System.Web.DynamicData.FieldTemplateUserControl

        protected MetaTable table;

        public Boolean EnableDelete { get; set; }
        public Boolean EnableInsert { get; set; }

Building a grouping Grid with GridView and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit CollapsiblePanel

I've posted an update to this post to apply on demand loading of Details data using ASP.NET AJAX PageMethods. I'm demonstrating the usage if CollapsiblePanelExtender client events on the new post. Check it out.

I admit, Matt Berseth is really inspiring me! Few days ago I pass through 2 of his great posts:

.Surrounding your Data Table and Dialog Controls with ComponentArt Styled Panels
.Building a Grouping Grid with the ASP.NET 3.5 LinqDataSource and ListView Controls
The first one is pure design tips one which I used for making good presentation of my demo here. The 2nd post is actually the idea.

GridView inline Master/Detail record display

This code drop is part of a smash and grab series. If you're in a rush, you can just grab this code and insert it into your application, no understanding is required. When you have some time (ya, right) you may want to review the source code.

Why isn't my Views/Home/Home.Master file published when I publish my website?

Hi All,

I spent the better part of today hunting down an elusive error.  I was getting a message saying that it couldn't find the Index view for the Home controller, and it gave a list of locations it searched, e.g., ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx.  This was really confusing as the file definitely existing and was at ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx, the first place in the list of locations it searched for the view!

What I eventually discovered was that there was a file that did not get published when I used Visual Studio's "Publish" feature (this is on the "Build" menu).  That file was Views/Home/Home.master, and (as you can probably guess) is the master file used by Views/Home/Index.aspx.

Once I copied that file into place manually, it started working.  But I am left wondering--why???  Why does this file not get published?  It's a part of my project, I can see it in the solution explorer, and it's obviously a critical file that's necessary for the MVC app to run.  It has the same permissions as every other file in my project.  So why wouldn't it get copied?  And how can I fix it so it does get copied?

Thanks for any suggestions on this!

Pass a grid column value to a Modal

Hi, I have a requirement to hide a field called details on a gridview and show it in a jQuery modal dialog when users click on the Customer ID hyperlink. This grid is created programmatically. I will be hiding the details column via the CSS display:none property. Does some one know how can I pass the grid's selected hidden column value to the modal? Here is some of the code I started:

            GridView mygrid = new GridView();
            //.....................................More columns code for the grid

            //Here is where I need to pass the Details column value associated with the customer ID field selected to the Modal and open the Modal dialog.
            HyperLinkField linkField = new HyperLinkField();
            string[] dataNavigateUrlFields = { "CustomerID" };
            linkField.DataTextField = "CustomerID";
            linkFi

UI Frontiers: Thinking Outside the Grid

In Windows Presentation Foundation and Silverlight, using a Canvas or a single-cell Grid seems very similar. The difference is in how the container appears to the rest of the layout system. Canvas doesn't participate in layout, so you can use it whenever you need to transcend layout.

Cutting Edge: Master-Detail Views with the ASP.NET Ajax Library

When you think of data-driven Web pages, most of the time what you really have in mind is a master-detail view of some cross-related data. Dino builds an example with ASP.NET AJAX 4 and jQuery.

Cutting Edge: A New Grid Control in Windows Forms

Grid controls are essential in many of today's apps. Until now, though, most developers using Visual Basic® have had to buy third-party components to get an effective, easy to use grid component. The Windows® Forms DataGrid turned out to lack too many features for the average developer.
