how to populate a dropdown box based on selectedvalue in another dropdown/combo box

I am new to MVC.  Can anyone show me how to populate a dropdown list box based on selected value in another

Any help is greatly appreciated.

dropdownbox which selects records based on criteria (TODAY, THIS WEEK, THIS MONTH, etc)

I have a dropdownbox which I want to use to search records based on a timescale. The gridview populates results based from that search.

So here is how I want to work this;

If a user selects "today" - a list of records input today are populated. If "this week" is selected, a list of all records added within that week from todays date is populated.

I created a forum on this issue previously but to no avail whatsoever. How do I work around this problem?

Help would be much appreciated

I have been using the following tutorial and had to convert the code to C# for my project, now i cant get the code to work, im getting red line under the word "in" in the UpdateRolesFromList,

On New Item form, select item on choice dropdown based on query result.

I posted this on Experts Exchange awhile back with no answer, so here's hoping someone here has an idea :)

So I've mostly figured this problem out, but I need some help in getting over the hump... note that I'm using JavaScript to do this (SPServices) on SharePoint 07'.

I'm on the New Items page of a list. Based on a user's selection in a "Teacher" dropdown, I'm doing the following:

1.) Get the value of the Teacher field and several other fields (School and Visit Date)
2.) Run a CAML query based on those fields to find the last list item entered for that Teacher

So here's where I'm stuck...

I have 10 choice fields, all with choices 0, 4, 7, and 10. Depending on what they were set to in the last entered item (which I queried), I want to set the selected item on each of those dropdowns to equal that. So "Score 1" was set to "4" on the la

Populate Treeview upon entered criteria and page action without complete page posting on client side

1. I have a treeview on left side in a panel in my aspx page and I have a Text box and a Search button on the right panel. On entering a search criteria and clicking the Search button, I want to get the data needed for the treeview (FYI - I have a webservice call for that) and then populate the treeview completely but keep it collapsed to the root node.

  Each time I enter the search criteria and click the Search button, I don't want to post the entire page (and also don't like the page flicker), how can I achieve this? I know that in order to avoid complete postback upon Search button click, I can do so by client callback and get the data needed for the treeview, but in this case, I have to build the treeview nodes as table - row/cells and handle all the events and handlers myself, which I want to avoid (also means that I won't be able to take advantage of the inherent expand and collapse capabilities of the Treeview). On the other hand, if I use the OnTreeNodePopulate event handling of the Treeview control, using the C# script code on the aspx markup, it doesn't recognize the entered criteria in the Text box. So either way,

Populating a dropdown box with contents based on the selection of another dropdown box

Hi All   I am a complete newcomer to ASP.NET.  However in the few weeks I have been playing with it I have got pretty far and  have mastered things like stored procedures, gridviews, formviews and templates.  I have come across a problem which I am struggling with and could do with some help!  The scenario is this:   I have a dropdown box which is populated from SQLDataSource1   I have a second dropdown box which is populated from SQLDataSource2, but i need the query feeding this to be dependent on what was selected in the first dropdown box.    I assumed it would simply be a case of modifying the select statement on SQLDataSource2 using the SelectedIndexChanged event on the first DropDownList to update the second SQL source, but I cannot work out for the life of me how to do it.  Pretty much all of the code I have is ASP.   Is there a way I can do this purely in ASP rather than using VB behind the scenes or do I need to use VB?  I am pretty comfortable with vb.net but one of the other issues I have is referencing an ASP object from VB... so for instance if I had a text box in ASP, how can I read or change the properties of this object from VB?   FYI I am using Visual Studio 2010 and SQL/Server   Any help much appreciated!!!   Sean

Set default member based on an attribute

I have a time dimension which is based on a time_dimension table. This has a column called current period which can be set to 0 or 1. My requirement is that I want to set the default member of my Year attribute (which is also part of the time hierarchy) to that value in my dimension table that has current period set to 1. How do i do this?

Using Rules to populate a textbox based on other values.

I am building a web-friendly form in Infopath (little new to the software)...

I have been able to hook up my form to my SharePoint and pull in user data so I can pre-populate various fields.

One field is not in our Profile services (nor Active Directory).  I'll call it Company Code.

But you can determine Company Code by checking the Company and Department.

Something like:

Company = "ABC", Department = "123" then Code = "XCV"
Company = "ABC", Department = "456" then Code = "VCX"

Since I am successful pulling the Company and Department from the Webservice.

I figured I build a text-box and put 30 or so rules on it to analyze the contents of Company and Department to determine what should be in the text-box.
So I used Conditions to check the Comany and Department and then the rule set the contents of the Company Code box.

However it seems as though the rules never run.

And I got to thinking, when DOES the rule know when to run?  I don't see an "onchange" event or anything (trying to avoid code for web-friendly anyways) - so....

I do have the Company and Department fields populate immediately when the form is opened, but is that early enough for the rules?

Do the rules have to manually tri

delete node based on criteria - linq to xml

I'm trying to delete an element based on its inner text but seem to not quite have it...

I have an xml doc like this:
<department name="Claims">
    <MyElement>Big Test</MyElement>

My linq to xml is:

XDocument ldoc = XDocument.Load(Server.MapPath("/XML/Settings.xml"));

doc.Elements("department").Where(s => s.Element("keywords").Value == "phone").Remove();

When I click my link button the element <keywords>phone</keywords> is never deleted.

Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

SharePoint 2010 Approval workflow based on list criteria

Hello All

I have been requested to create an Approval workflow for a list with 3 columns - Title, Category and Price. The Category field has 3 options - Minor, Moderate and Major.

If the Category is Minor the approval is sent to the Project Manager, and after approval it is sent to the Manager for approval.

How can I accomplish this using SharePoint Designer 2010? Can I modify the OOTB approval workflow, if yes how?

What other options do I have? This is really urgent.

Thank you for any responses.

Is there a way to query entity based on multiple filter criteria? WCF Data Services, Linq to Entiti

Instead of:

DW_CMSOPEN dwc = new DW_CMSOPEN(new Uri("http://acctdev02/WCFDataService/EmployeeService.svc"));

dwc.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;

var employees = from emp in dwc.Employees
             where emp.DEPT == "123"
             select emp;

I'd like the linq query to resemble:

var employees = from emp in dwc.Employees

              select emp;

How do I pre-populate document quick parts based on site metadata?

Anyone have any thoughts on how I would populate data into document quick parts?

The answer seems pretty simple with content types and such, but the complication is that I want to pull in contact information from a list local to the site in which the library resides.  For example:

A project site is created.  The company's contact information is copied down to the site via the site creation process.  A Letter Standard content type is managed throughout the site, and pulls the contact information from the list and populates the appropriate pieces within the document automatically.

Anyone done something similar to this?
