Confused about Disk Alignment/ Partition Offset

I am all confused by disk alignment, partiton offset.Why do we need to calcualte offset which most of the articles talk about, This is from White Paper  Disk Partition Alignment Best Practices for SQL Server where its stressed that Partition_Offset ÷ Stripe_Unit_Size-- should be an integer 'The performance question here is usually not one of correlation per the formula, but whether the cluster size is the NTFS default of 4,096 bytes or has been explicitly defined at 64 KB, which is a best practice for SQL Server.' Also how do we calculate Stripe Unit Size for SAN. Thanks all for your replies !!

Textblock and left/top alignment has different space

Hi, when i add a text the text is aligned left,top by default. At the left the text hits the edge, but at the top the text still has space left. Is this because of some special characters that need that space? I would like to show the text with left and top the same amount of space. <Window x:Class="MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <Grid> <TextBlock Background="Red" FontSize="100" FontFamily="Verdana" Padding="0" >T98}`|_*dfshjd sjlksdj dsjl djskldj lksj dlksj</TextBlock> </Grid> </Window>

ReportViewer 2008 multi-select parameter alignment

We are using SSRS 2008 SP1 & ReportViewer 2008 SP1. The multi-select parameter options are left aligned in the drop-down listbox on the Report Server but when run thru ASP.Net & reportViewer, they are aligned in the center of the drop-down list. This is very problematic because the width of the drop-down is also narrow compared to the text size of the fields. I tried wrapping the ReportViewer in a Div tag (<div style="vertical-align: left; text-align: left">), but still no joy.  Would appreciate any help thanks.

Alignment of GridViewColumn Header in ListView

I must be missing something really obvious here, but how do I align the content of the header of a GridViewColumn in a ListView?   I tired applying a DataTemplate for the header like so:   <GridViewColumn Header="MyHeader" Width="80" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding TrDt}">    <GridViewColumn.HeaderTemplate>       <DataTemplate>          <TextBlock Text="{Binding}" HorizontalAlignment="Left"/>       </DataTemplate>    </GridViewColumn.HeaderTemplate> </GridViewColumn>   But the header still comes out center aligned... Any hints?

Masked text box text alignment

Hi All,

I have an issue which smells like a culture issue, but I can't find any difference in the language/region settings.

I have a windows forms application using masked edit text boxes to display comma separated numbers. The boxes' RightToLeft property is set to 'Yes' and the TextAlign property is set to 'Left'. This is so that the mask is aligned to the right, and when focus moves to that edit box the cursor is at the far right and the number expands to the left as you type.

When I package the app up and deploy it, the mask is still aligned to the right, but the cursor goes to the left-most position, and the number expands to the right as you type.

This looks like an environment problem to me, but I can't see anything in the language and regional settings on my test box that's different from my development machines.

Any ideas?

Absolutely page-bottom alignment on "report footer": Impossible?

Relative newb to SSRS here, but the answer to this question evades me; answers and insight are appreciated.

Report in question is an invoice form. It requires an absolutely bottom-of-page aligned footer that has databound elements.

This is so that whatever page that footer finally appears on will print in such a way that the address will align in a windowed envelope.

Ironically, Books Online gives this exact scenario in explaining headers and footers in SSRS, but they cleverly don't explain how an absolutely bottom-of-page-aligned and data-bound footer can be made to happen. Headers at absolute page top is obviously no problem. Footers at page bottom, not so much.

So, this is not a "page footer"--page footers are employed in the body. Also this footer is databound, so a page footer as it's known in SSRS is out the window anyway.

Most of the time this will print on a single page, but if it breaks to multiple pages, that footer needs to go all the way to the absolute bottom.

I grasp that the "report footer" for SSRS is just what appears at the end of any repeating controls that you've implemented in your body. Because SSRS uses this kind of repeating-control based idiom rather than a section-based idiom as Crystal does, this kind of (what I would consider very basic) positioning control is looking fairly impos

Problem with css vertical alignment

I want to create a box, that looks and acts exactly like in this image (I have edited it in photoshop to make it look like what I want):

As you can see, the heading should be vertically middle aligned. And if the text exceeds the width, the text should then take up the place like normal behaviour.

Ive tried to accomplish this for a long time now, but cant get it right! Problem is that I cant make the text vertically align, since I´m using the display:block;

Here is what i have:

<div class="outer">
  <span class="heading" >Long heading that should take up all the place, but not expand the box </span>
  <div class="inner">
  <b>Description</b><br />just some random text<br />blablabla<br />

  border:1px solid #797979;

Simple CSS alignment problem

Im trying to create a page with css layout instead of tables.

I want to create a div that is 100% long, and contains three buttons (maybe more?). The first button should be placed to the left, the second in the middle, and the third to the right. They shall, of course, be placed on the same horizontal line.

How to do this with css?

Thanks alot :)

Kind regards,

Does the 2008 R2 Data Alignment in the columns (Domain Scope) work with multiple tablix's

Does the 2008 R2 Data Alignment in the columns (Domain Scope) work with multiple tablix's or only with one Tablix with different groups?

I have been trying to use it for a report that has 3 tablixs (the same dataset and same format) but it doesnt seem to work. All the examples i find are for a single tablix.
