Proper setup using Infopath and Custom Workflow using VS 2008

I have been struggling for a couple of days, trying to set up a decent
structure for an Infopath project using a custom workflow using Visual Studio 2008.

I had a solution with two projects:

1) Sharepoint 2007 Workflow

2) Infopath 2007 form w/code-behind.

I included the xsn, in the VS solution, but after a day or two,
something went wrong, and I lost some work. I still do not know what
happened, but I could not get my changes to persist afterthat  Doing research I have read that this
stucture, using Infopath xsn, within VS does not work correctly with Source
Control. I am using VSS.

So I since made a change to the set-up so that the .xsn (form template) is separate from
Visual Studio. However, I need to leave the code-behind in VS, since I need to debug

This is my latest problem. I have been unable to attach to the correct
process, as VS generates cachse files, and who knows what else.

My question is simple. What is the supported method for debugging InfoPath
code/behind, which uses a Sharepiont Workflow?

I just also want to say that one should not have
to spend a few days just trying to setup a working development environment.

This should be trouble-free, but it is far from being so. I

SQL Server Express 2008 Setup fails. Support Rule "Restart Computer" Failed

Hi, I have been trying to install SQL Server Express for most of the day now without any luck.  Whatever I do setup fails at the stage of Setup Support Rules, Rule "Restart Computer" - Failed.  Needles to say I have restarted (several times!) and I have tried downloading  and installing the "Advanced", "Tools" and "Basic" versions, all give the same error.  Trying a repair does the same.  I have been searching the net for an answer without success, any help would be MUCH appreciated. Further info: I am trying to install a stand-alone installation on to a single PC running under XP SP 3 with .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.  The PC did have some earler versions of SQL server installed but I (?hopefully?) removed all of these through Control Panel.  Before trying the first SQL install I installed Windows installer 4.5 and PowerShell 1.0 as per the Microsoft Instructions. Running SQL Server Configuration Manager results in an error (MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap in might not have been installed correctly).  A directory structure for SQL server exists in "Program Files".  Services MSC shows SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) as Automatic Statup (not running).  Trying to start this manually gives error 14001: "application configuration incorrect - re-install to fix" .......... Which is precisely what I'm trying to do.........:(

How to setup windows server 2008 to enable socket communication?

I wrote a simple socket program, which listens to the 82 port, then receives and sends data through it. I tested the program on my local machine and it works fine, but after I published the program onto my windows server 2008, it does not work anymore. I guess it should be the firewall causing the problem, so I added rules to allow 82 port for both in and out bound, and I also add my application to the allowed program list for passing firewall, but still doesn't work, how could I solve it?   The windows server 2008 machine has a public network IP address, while my workstation is in a local network without public IP address, I connect to server 2008 through a router which has a public IP address. Is that the problem?   thanks! Regards! directfriends.net

Testing setup of SQL Server 2008 R2 developer

The "Windows Package Manager" has the error "Operation failed with 0x80070643" and "Fatal error during installation." I have tried a few basic approaches to the installation problem, including downloading the ISO image to a different computer.  I have burned the ISO image onto four different DVDs using different media and two computers but only succeeded in verifying the burned media is Ok.  I have verified the SHA1 key with the two installation ISO images that were downloaded.  I have tried repairing the installation, but that generated a different kind of error message, "Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file E:\1033_ENU_LP\x64\setup\SSCERuntime_x86-enu.msi".  And then there is the "SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup has stopped working" message indicating "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...". How fatal are the errors being encountered?  Is everything Ok?  How can I test that SQL Server 2008 R2 is fully functional?  T.69.72.

Expansion from an Active/Passive SQL 2008 setup to ... ? (Supporting our growth)

Hi. I'm a sysadmin (or rather Jack of all trades) that also takes care of a MS SQL 2008 (standard) servercluster that is in an Active/Passive setup (2 servers, one active, one standby with files stored on a SAN with dual 10Gbps connection). We are currently hitting the limits of what a single SQL server (on our hardware) can handle. We are growing and our clients are as well. As such, we're starting to see slow-downs on SQL level (a part due to application design, but part simply due to capacity). I've been doing my best to read up on all options, where we can increase performance , yet maintain our current failover capacity . An ideal scenario would be to just make both nodes 'Active' and allow querying on both while their databases remain sync'ed in the event one of them were to fail. There is however no such thing as an "Active/Active" MS SQL 2008 cluster. I've been reading more and more about (Transactional) Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping and so on, but either it does not really fit to our current situation, or it would require more hardware than I have at my disposal. I'm afraid I don't fully comprehend all the implications of the available technologies. Am I overlooking something? What solution would you suggest? The new setup must be capable of automatically failovering with no (or extremely minimal ) dataloss , yet get better performanc

Windows 7, SQL Server 2008 Express & VWD 2008 Express Setup Problems

Hi I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and Visual Web Developer Express 2008 (which came with SP1) installed. SQL Server 2008 Express never worked - Windows 7 won't allow the Management Studio to be installed and VWD was asking for SQL Server 2005.  Looking on the web, I found advice to try the 32 bit version of SQL Server instead.  This would work with VWD, apparently.  I referred to these instructions (http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/3/163A851B-D956-42E9-B426-F5C0EBE6B654/ReleaseNotes.htm) and used the latest links and instructions, but I could not install SQL Server at all - apparently something to do with WOW64... This has been going on for a WHILE and I'm going nuts.  I am reluctant to uninstall VWD and start again, because I had to manually fix a few things, and now it's working...  PLEASE can someone tell me of a working configuration, I have read SO MUCH advice on this, and none works, including those release notes (unless I missed something) :(

Error occurred while SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup

I already have sql server 2005 running on my computer (Win XP SP2) and I have been trying to install the Sql server 2008 R2 version. (I've downloaded in last week.)   While I'm installing, I got the following msg box : The following eror has occurred: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Click 'Retry' to retry the failed action, or click 'Cancel' to cancel this action and continue setup.   At that time, Installation progress show "ASConfigAction_install_postmsi_Cpu32". So I assumed something is wrong in SSAS installation.   I just click "Cancel" in the above msg box as I have no choice.   After completed, it show "Failed" in "Analysis Services".   Then I restarted my PC. When I try to start SSAS service manually, I got the following msg box.   The SQL Server Analysis Services (Instance_Name) service failed to start due to the following error:  Error 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.    Actually I just want to try CUBE in this version. (my deadline is coming friday.)  :(   Please advise & thanks in advance.
