Document Conversion of large files

My MOSS 2007 environment fires OutOfMemory exceptions when attempt to launch a custom Document Converter on files larger then 50 MB (Video files) . Because my Document Converter is implemented by a standalone executable, I'm figuring these exceptions are fired by Sharepoint Work process, on downloading/uploading from/to temp folder, not by my custom converter.

If this is the case, can I apply any workarounds on server configuration ? I tried with /3GB switch without luck. Maybe SP1 will address this issue too ?

Document library hiding pdf files' tool bar

Hi all, I have a requirement that the Sharepoint pdf documents should have the toolbar hidden in order to prohibit users from downloading and printing the file. The only way I can do this is to create a content editor web part, using HTML to open the pdf file and add '#toolbar=0' after the pdf file name. I am wondering if I can also add '#toolbar=0' to the Sharepoint document library's pdf files? Thanks!

Using LEFT command with Date Conversion

Hi There, I have a select statement that I use to seperate a datetime field in to a date and time column. select (convert(varchar(30),DateTimeField,107)) as Date,(convert(varchar(30),DateTimeField,108)) as Time FROM mytable I want to be able to trim off the last "00's" from the time column, so I have tried to use the LEFT command - which I am unable to get to work. I would have expected it to be: select (convert(varchar(30),DateTimeField,107)) as Date,LEFT((convert(varchar(30),DateTimeField,108)),5) as Time FROM mytable But I can not get it to return a value, Can anyone see where I am going wrong? Thanks Matt

Parse SQL files using command line

I've a number of sql files that I wish to parse to check that the syntax is OK.
I don't want to execute the SQL files, just parse them
Is there any way to do this from a command line.
Currently I have to load the files in SQL Server and run the parse command one at a time for each file.
If there was a way to do it from a command line and thus create a batch file?
I've tried from the query window, sqlcmd and osql without any joy.

Max files in a single WSS 3.0 Database (SBS 2008 Server - Window Internal DB)

This site appears to indicate that the max documents per database is 32,767 :

This seems extremely small to me. Is that an accurate number? We have a customer with 300,000 documents and about 30 users. Is this going to be too much for a single DB?

Conversion of xlsx files uploaded to document library

I have a MS Sharepoint Server 2007 installed, and we are using a document library to store files of various types.  Some of our users use OpenOffice to read and save these documents.

When I upload a document that is an xlsx formatted document, microsoft seems to convert the file into a different format than the file that was uploaded - preventing Open Office from opening the file.  The file is still an xlsx file and Microsoft Excel is able to understand this format.  Is there a way to turn this behaviour off?

I've tried turning off the Document Conversions Launcher Service (as well as the Load Balancer)

I've also tried changing the settings for the document library -> 'Open in client application' and 'open as web page', neither of these seem to solve my problem.

How can I configure Sharepoint so that it doesn't convert my xlsx files?  Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

.NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

.ASP.NET Dynamic Data
.ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
.ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:
