FCB::Open: Operating system error 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by

Hello all,I am running into an interesting scenario on my desktop.  I'm running developer edition on Windows XP Professional (9.00.3042.00 SP2 Developer Edition).  OS is autopatched via corporate policy and I saw some patches go in last week.  This machine is also a hand-me-down so I don't have a clean install of the databases on the machine but I am local admin. So, starting last week after a forced remote reboot (also a policy) I noticed a few of the databases didn't start back up.  I chalked it up to the hard shutdown and went along my merry way.  Friday however I know I shut my machine down nicely and this morning when I booted up, I was in the same state I was last Wenesday.  7 of the 18 databases on my machine came up withFCB:pen: Operating system error 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) occurred while creating or opening file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\Test.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation.and it also logs  FCB:pen failed: Could not open file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\Test.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.).I've caught references to the auto close feature being a possible culprit, no dice as the databases in question are set to Fal

Error: 5123 CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.)

 HI ,

This is a problem I encountered when I had to detach a database file (type .mdf):

 1) I went to the MS SQL Management Server Studi and detached my database file successfully from a connection called Workhorse.

2) I needed to place the .mdf database file into a zip file in order to put it on a remote server. I did this using Shared Portal.  This was also successful

3) However when I tried reattaching the database file, I got this error:

CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file "C\Program Files\MSSQL Server\MSSQL\Data\<databasename>.mdf'

Q) The database file and log file (ldf) exist in the correct directory so I don't know what happened. Can any one help?

 Thanks much

I have only just installed SQL.   I get the following message: Unable to open physical file "C:\ArrowSQL\Arr@Data\Arrow_data.mdf" Operating system error 5: "5(error not found)" (Microsoft SQL Server: Error 5120)".   I have loaded SQL and the database fiel and directory with the same user acccount which is a local adminstrator ont hsi machine. I have checked that I have read/write access to the file.   The machine runs Windows Vista Business. SQL has SP 2 loaded.   What causes this?

Dear DBAs, A database backup job has failed for the last couple of days with below error. I see that there is no P drive for PP1DATA. When I tried to bring drives online to find P drive and bring it up I couldn't bring them online. Is the absence of P drive related to this error? Thank you,   ." failed with the following error: "The operating system returned error 21(The device is not ready.) to SQL Server during a write at offset 0x0000005ec32000 in file 'P:\PP1DATA1\PP1DATA1.mdf'. Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online.  BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally."

Access Denied error

I have read several posts where this access denied to path ex.('c:\test' ).  The only way I got this to work was adding <identity impersonate> using my credentials in the web.config file but I don't want to use my credentials all the time.  I have Windows as the authentication mode so why doesn't it work without supplying my credentials?  I tried giving Network Service account write permissions to the folder but that doesn't work either.

Hi Guys, The subject of this question is the error which I am receiving when running a scheduled job also this is an error which we get at a random intervals and the frequency would be once or twice in a month. I have been through several posts and didn't concluded anything out of it. At the time when we receive this error the memory usage of the database was normal with free resources available and also the network was stable without issues. Our Sql database is in cluster mode with named instance. Can anyone share some information on this, I know this is not the right forum with the error message I have posted but am sure some one might have face the same problem when running some ETL jobs. Source and target both are sql server and the error message is generated in the validation phase of the connection manager connecting to target database. SSIS 2005 SP2 64 bit environmentRaju

Error: Access Denied with WCF (webHttpHandler)

Hi, I have build a WCF webservice and added it to a sharepoint solution. This works fine. but I also want to be able to consume the service with ASP.NET Ajax (javascript). I modified the config file and added an other endpoint that uses webHttpBinding and also uses the webScriptBehavior. the basicHttpBinding and the webHttpBinding both use clientCredentialType ="Ntlm". When I type in my URL http://{server}/myService.svc I see my service. But when I want to download the jsDebug, with the URL http://{server}/myService.svc/javascript/jsDebug, I get: Error: Access Denied from SharePoint (_layouts/AccessDenied.aspx?Source..) does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this? this is what my config file looks like:   <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled ="true"/> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name ="customBasicHttpBinding"> <security mode ="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType ="Ntlm"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> <webHttpBinding> <binding name ="customWebHttpBinding"> <security mode ="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType ="Ntlm&quo

Uploading a file to a document library produces access denied error, but only on first try.

Hi I have a task which uses a custom form which is part of a custom workflow.  The form incorporates an asp fileUpload control to allow a user to browse for a local file which they can then select and it will be upload a file to a folder in a document library.  The first time this action is performed the folder in the document library will not exist so the code creates a folder and then uploads the file to it. The problem I have is, the first time users try and upload a file the directory is created in the document library as expected, but then the user gets redirected to the standard SharePoint Access Denied page.  If the user goes back to the task list, then loads the task web page again, selects the same file and hits upload, then the file is uploaded fine. All subsequent file uploads work fine after that for all users. Users have Contribute permissions on the document library. The code to do the upload is as follows.  The task has a "CR Number" associated with it, which the directory in the doc library should be called.  It uploads the file to a stream.  Then gets the url of the web and works out the file url and uploads it.  The creation and checking of the folder in the doc library happens in the getDirUrl method. /// <summary> /// Processes an uploaded file. /// </summary> /// <param name="

Access Denied/The workflow could not copy the item workflow error after Sharepoint 2010 upgrade

We have a sharepoint designer workflow that copies a document from one library to another on the same site.  Before the upgrade to 2007 it worked fine, but now with 2010 it gives an error and cancels the workflow when it gets to the copy list item step.   The error on the workflow page: The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  Access Denied   Specifically it is the "copy list item current item to documentlibrary" sharepoint designer workflow action.   I have given the system account full permissions to the library and double checked that all columns are the same in both libraries. winrm error: access denied

Hi, I want to use winrm. I have Windows 7 installed and configure it for workgroup not domain. Each simple winrm command leads to the error message:   Access is denied Mr. google and several forums told me to: * execute the winrm command just with having administrator rights * to create the DWORD LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy  [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] and set to 1 * Use Local Security Settings (Secpol.msc) to change the setting of the      "Network Access: Sharing and security model for local accounts" policy      in Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options to "Classic". * administrator must have a non blank password * first execute      winrm quickconfig I did all those hints. Unfortunatly I still recieve the error "Access is denied" for each even simple winrm command. I need WinRm, I have to fix the problems under my Windows 7. It must work. Please help me and tell me what else must be done, to get it running.     In advance thanks a lot

Directory lookup for the file failed with the operating system error 5

Hi I have a Windows desktop application that uses a SQLServer Express database.  The database files are downloaded from my website, followed by the application download (written in VBE).  The first procedure is to attach the database to the SQLServer instance from within the application. I have two test machines one runs Windows XP x84, the other Windows 7 x64.  I never have issues on attaching the database files in my test envirnoment but twice now other people downloading have got the following error System.Data.Sqlclient.sqlexception (ox 80131904) Directory lookup for the file C:\Documtents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Tem1.mdf failed with the operating system error 5 (failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason 1815) changed database context to 'master'. I'm not sure what the problem is and therefore how to correct the issue.  I attach the database in code using the create statement e.g. cmd7.CommandText = "USE Master CREATE DATABASE Tem1 ON PRIMARY (FILENAME = '" & DBFullPath & "') LOG ON (FILENAME = '" & DbLogPath & "') FOR ATTACH" Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. CommitChanges - General access denied error

Hi, We are developing a intranet web application through which our users can modify their profile information(in Active Directory). I am getting an error which says like this System.UnauthorizedAccessException: General access denied error at System.DirectoryServices.Interop.IAds.SetInfo() at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.CommitChanges() Here is my vb code block --------------------------------------------------------------- Public sPath As String = "LDAP://domainname/OU=OITS,OU=ODI,DC=aa,DC=bb,DC=cc,DC=dd" Dim dsUser As DirectoryEntry = New DirectoryEntry(sPath, "domain/AdminID", "AdminPassword", AuthenticationTypes.Secure) dsUser = dsUser.Children.Find("CN=John") With dsUser.Properties .Item("displayname").Value = "John Doe" End With dsUser.CommitChanges() -------------------------------------------------------------- I am getting the above error while calling CommitChanges. Am I missing anything on ASPNET user account? Any thoughts?

Access Denied to backup but xp_cmdshell no Acess Denied

Hi, I'm trying to backup to a network drive, but I keep getting the message below: Cannot open backup device '\\Server\Projects\Exodus\Backup_Banco'. Operating system error 5(Access is denied.). The weird thing is that if I use xp_cmdshell on the same folder, I can dir, copy files, etc...  Why is that? Below is by backup command code that I get the Access Denied: BACKUP DATABASE Exodus TO DISK = '\\Server\Projects\Exodus\Backup_Banco' WITH COPY_ONLY, COMPRESSION, NOFORMAT, INIT And both xp_cmdshell commands below works without a glitch: exec xp_cmdshell 'dir \\Server\Projects\Exodus\Backup_Banco' exec xp_cmdshell 'copy \\Server\Projects\Exodus\Backup_Banco\text.txt \\Server\Projects\Exodus\Backup_Banco\text4.txt' Both SQL Server and SQL Agent are running on domain accounts, and I gave Modify rights on the \\Server\Projects\Exodus\Backup_Banco folder to the Domain Local Group that holds both accounts, as the copy commands shows. Both commands use SQL Server's service account rights, so I should get the same treatment for both commands. But that's not what is happening. Any ideas why? Thanks
