SSRS 2008 Against OLAP Cube reports rendering slow in IE 6 and IE8

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
We have SSAS cube built on SQL Server 2008 that has multiple parameters that have a default vault on running of all. The first time we run the report it renders the report in less than 30 seconds, but when we change one value on the data cube pull the reports can take up to 5 mins to run. If I do the same report in Firefox 3.6 it renders the report in 30 seconds. I have change changing the cache size in the IE explorer and ave the latest .net frame work on the computer. What would be causing this issue? The company upgrade from SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, SQL 2005 to 2008. Please advice, this is very annoying for our business end users.   Thanks for your help in advance.

Share Point integrated SSRS reports rendering when access from external site

Our client has a SharePoint (moss2007) site on Windows 2008, SQL2008 R2 Enterprise, and Reporting service is integrated with SharePoint

The authentication on the share point integration is set to windows, else the authentication for the SSAS datasource gives and error

The extranet zone ( forms) and intranet (Customer Forms) and default (Windows) zones are all access from inside the firewall and the reports render in each with no issues, as the datasources are configured to pass a sql username and password.

However, report rendering is a problem from the internet (external site), the following error is displayed:

Schedule reports with integrated authentication SSRS 2008

Hi All,  Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....." What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be hones

SSRS 2008 SP1 - Enabling "My Reports" allows users delete reports in folders they should not be able

Issue: Users that have “My Reports” SSRS Role assigned to them can delete reports in other “shared” folders. My understanding was that they will be able to do the tasks specified only  in the “My Reports” workspace not everywhere. I have “My Reports” enabled via SSMS. Users have “My Reports” role assigned to them at the root level. My SSRS Role “My Reports” has only the following tasks assigned: 1.       View Reports 2.       Manage reports 3.       View Folders 4.       Manage Folders To test, I'm using Development version of SQL Server 2008 SP1. Thanks in advance, Martina

Where are the 2008 SSRS sample reports?

All the CodePlex 2008 links now go to the 2008R2 examples. Are the 2008 report samples still around somewhere?

SSRS 2008 R2 Rendering Performance

I am implementing a matrix report in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2.  There are about 37 rows and 10 columns where each cell has an Indicator graphic (so about 370 cells).  The report shows loading for a few seconds but then freezes for about 2-3 minutes before the report pops up. Other matrix reports without the indicators seem to render just fine. Is there some way to improve the performance of reports such as these with many indicators in each cell?

SSRS 2008 - HTML3.2 Rendering

In our prior install of SSRS we were able to render reports using the URL and rs:Format=HTML3.2   It now appears I can only select HTML4.0 but I can't find anything to verify that 3.2 support was dropped.   We really really need to be able to maintain rendering reports in HTML3.2.   Can anyone confirm if this is still possible, and how I would go about it.   Thanks.

SSRS 2008- redirect to /Reports virtual directory?

We have just configured a new SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 server. So far, everything is going well, with the exception of one thing: we want anyone who hits the root of the webserver to be redirected to the /Reports virtual directory. So, if the user enters http://servername.domain.com/ it would redirect to http://servername.domain.com/reports. In SSRS 2005, it was easy to configure IIS to do this, but with SSRS 2008, I cannot figure out how to make this change. Help?

Need to find File Share Excel Rendering time--SSRS 2008

Are there workarounds for SSRS 2008 Reports that have issues in SSRS 2008 R2

We have some SSRS 2008 reports which have a few issues in SSRS 2008 R2: - Page Numbering: Our reports use [PageNumber] of [TotalPages] however, in R2 [Total Pages] only relates to a particular section.  Do we really need to update every single report in design mode to use [OverallTotalPages]?  Is there a workaround? - Report Rendering: Each page of a report is only rendered when each new page of the report is requested.  How do we prevent this is R2? - Missing Data: If we run a report that should have 50 pages of data, not all pages are shown when viewing the report.  For example, only 2 pages might show.  However, if we export to PDF the whole 50 pages are exported.  Does anyone know why this is happening? Looking for patches, workarounds, etc.  Hoping that we don't need to upgrade desktops to R2 and edit hundreds of reports to fix these issues. Thanks, Howie999

0x80040154 error processing a cube from SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 database engine to OLAP Server 2000 x

I recently upgrade from SQL Server 2000 x32 to SQLServer 2008 R2 x64 but only the database engine not the Analysis Server, I used to use this code to proces the cubes.

but now it do not  work more with the error:

I found this article:

It means that I can not process the cube using the same method any more ?

Deploying SSRS Reports from Visual Studio 2010 to Report Manager 2008

Our Report server is using Report Manager 2008. Previously I would load reports to it that I created via BIDS. Now I have to use VS 2010. I see that I can build and deploy reports there. Can I send it from VS 2010 to the REport manager 2008 on the other machine? I should add that now i have to develop on laptop only before i was on the server.

If not what are my options? I recall that vs 2005 objects were not taken in Report manager 2008.

SSRS 2008: Multiple Sub-Reports with conditional visibility in one List control

MainReport: a List containing two Sub-Reports. The data of the List only has two rows. Set the visibility of the sub-report based on the data.

SubReport1: a textbox showing "Sub Report 1"

SubReport2: a textbox showing "Sub Report 2"

I expect to see SubReport1 in Page 1 and SubReport2 in Page 2.

But I only see SubReport1 in Page 1 and Page 2 is a blank page.

These reports work in SSRS 2005, but not in SSRS 2008.

SSRS 2008 Interface with cube data source

Hi All,

Need some brainstorming and your experience here. Here is a situation and would like to understand your thoughts on this.

1. We have developed some cubes using SSAS 2008 to analyse the data.

2. We had some reporting requirement in the past and we decided to use our cube as a data source for the reports and develop using SSRS 2008.

3. We have developed many reports using the SSRS.

4. Now when the reports are passed on to the end users, they are not liking the SSRS interface...like at present we cannot increase the size of the drop down box, sorting any many other things..

As you might already know the SSRS interface i

We have a report subscription that emails out through a 3rd / separate smtp server.

I was watching the progress on the report server subscription page (where it shows executing, x of y completed, 0 errors) and noticed a long pause between updates about half way through the subscription.

It sends out around 500 emails and email 475 of 500 was still on screen after a few minutes (it hadn't ticket up to 476, or 479, etc...)

So I quer

Is SSRS 2008 capable enough to be a solution for generating really huge reports?

Hi All,

I have been doing performance analysis for SSRS 2008 for some really huge reports that return between 1 to 5 million records (with single user) and reports that return 100K to 200K records with multiple users. I have observed lot of issues which made me to think that may be SSRS 2008 is not good enough for such a huge reports even less good if there is a multiple users scenario for those big reports(though I wanted to use it). Please go through my points and share your views on this.

Before putting up the points I would like to mention my configuration, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition R2 SP2 64 bit (totally dedicated to SSRS reports as the data source for these reports was SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition), Microsoft Reporting Services 2008 R2 64 bit, 8 CPU, 8 GB RAM and the reports are simple tabular reports which are fetching the data from a single table (no joins)

SSRS 2008 R2 Charts Not Rendering Correctly (Clipped)

When I add charts and gauges to my reports they are always clipped. The bottom and right hand portions don't appear on the report. It appears they are being rendered too large. No matter how big I make the chart, gauge, report it gets clipped. However, if I export to PDF or Excel the full chart (didn't try the gauge) does appear. I have reproduced this IE8 and Firefox. I am running everything on a Windows 7 machine.

Authenticated, when deploying the reports(SSRS 2008) to a sharepoint site

I created reports in SSRS 2008 for a sharepoint list. But when I tried to deploy it to the report library I used to get an authentication pop-up box again and again. I used all the username and password. But no luck. Does any one knows how to overcome this situation.
