One reports prompts for credentials repeatedly and never renders

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
On our SQL2005 PROD installation, we just uploaded a new report that uses the same shared data source that our other reports use successfully. The report calls a query that takes about 3 minutes to run under the same User/Pass that the shared data source uses.  When run on our PROD reporting services instance, it stays at "Report is being generated" for roughly 5 minutes and then displays a browser prompt for credentials.  If you enter valid credentials, the process repeats -- roughly 5 minutes of "Report is being generated" then another prompt for credentials. I've done the basic stuff of triple checking the shared data source, etc. and can't seem to find any difference between this report and the one that are working fine.  What can I do to fix this? The Pragmatic TSQL Programmer

Sharepoint Designer repeatedly prompts for credentials

When I try to access SharePoint Designer 2010, I am repeatedly prompted to enter my credentials. I am running on a Windows 7 64 bit machine (in "Developer mode"). I select the designer from the home page from the site actions menu. I tried this solution, as this is exactly my problem, but it didn't work; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982948 I have been searching for this issue but to no avail Thanks

Report Builder 3.0 renders empty page for Reports with Matrix (column group) in Landscape orientatio

I need some help.

If I create a Report with a Matrix Tablix (with row Groups and column groups) in landscape layout and preview it in print layout, the report generates me some extra empty page every 2nd page.

I don't understand the rule, why it's doing that.

My Report settings are:

  • PageSize: width: 29.7 cm, height: 21 cm
  • InteractiveSize: width: 29.7cm, height: 21 cm
  • Margins : 0cm,0cm,0cm,0cm
  • Report Body : widht: 25cm, height: 10cm

According my Report settings this shouldn't happen, should it. The width of my Tablix is max 22cm.

What I noticed is, that when I shrink the width of my Report Body to 21 cm (to the width of the portrait layout) or less, the emtpy pages disappear.

Or when I delete the column group, it also renders the report without some empty pages.

I think this problem has something to do with column groups.

Is this a bug or am I missing a setting?

Prompted for network credentials via internet while accessing SSRS reports in SharePoint integrated

We have developed a SharePoint- FBA site and published it through ISA.  The site, among many features, displays SSRS reports through Performance Point Monitoring dashboards.  SSRS is using windows integrated authentication (Kerberos).  Through intranet, the reports are getting displayed without any issue, but, through internet, its getting prompted when we try to access the reports for the first time after logging into the site using FBA credentials.  When we enter valid domain credentials after being prompted, it starts displaying reports without any issues and never prompts again for that FBA session.

We have been trying to eliminate the prompt through internet, but couldn't do so.

Has anyone experienced the same before?

Any help is appreciated.

SSRS asking for credentials while reports running for long time.

We have a report which executes a stored procedure and it runs for 10 minutes.  After running for 5 minutes, the report keeps asking for username and password for 3 times and redirects to unauthorized page.  The website uses WIDE IP for crash and recovery handling, so it has two nodes.  Could some one please help me to figure out what problem it is ?  The SP data is not huge, which produces only 300 odd rows and 20+ columns.

Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Viewing Reports with SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts

Reporting Services provides several Web Parts that work with specific versions of a report server and in particular deployment modes. If you want to access report server content on a SharePoint site from a native mode report server, use the SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts that are included with Reporting Services. Instructions for installing and using the 2.0 Web Parts are provided in this topic.

Session with Crystal Reports on IE 8

Having a very wierd problem.  I have an application that uses Crystal Reports and it uses what I have found to be a common scenario (I am not a CR expert in any way).  I have an ASPX page that gathers options for the report, and then it goes and gets the data and if there is some, a button appears for them to launch the report.  On clicking that button, the code sets some values in the HttpResponse.Context area, then performs a Server.Transfer to another ASPX page that is our Report Template.  This page contains the CR stuff and it generates a PDF version of the report.  It then does the following code:

 With HttpContext.Current.Response
            .ContentType = "application/pdf"
            .AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=Report.pdf")

dynamically change column names in Crystal reports

I need to develop 3 pages.

On the first page user defines atmost 7 column names to be displayed on the report. I'm saving these names in a Sql DB table 'Columns' with Column_Nm and Column_ID as Table columns.

On the second page I'm retrieving column_Nm from the table and displaying them on the page so that the user enters the data. This data is saved in another table 'Summary' with the Columns column1 through column7.

on the 3rd page I need to show a report of 'Summary' table.

How do I dynamically replace column1 through column7 names with that of 'Column_Nm' on the report?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
