Posted By:      Posted Date: September 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hello all, after long back coming into this forun recenty got a problem like below hope someone can help me out here.. We recently converted the VS.2005 application into VS2008 in XP machine and it was working fine like compiling with out any issues and working as expected. But recently team upgraded laptops to Win7 when trying to compile it we have got issues then we changed the compiler settings to 'x86' and compiled it went good. But after that login screen came when ran the applciation without environment selection (production, DEV, Testing etc). basically we are getting this environment setup from system registry, we uderstand that Win7 is looking in different location hence no environment information is coming up..later we see that where the code is looking for environment environment and created environment keys in registry, after that environment infromation displayed in login screen but not able to login into applciaiton throwing exceptions like " Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))"   Can someone can help us how to manage this registry keys in Win7 VS 2008 vs XP VS 2008?

Side-side by config error on Win7 64 apps if VS2008 is not installed on the system

Hi, I am using Win 764 bit application. When I try to run my application in target machine Iam gettting the following error. The application is running fine if the target machine has VS2008 and SP1 installed   "Unable to Load TekRobo Dll. The application has failed to start because its side -by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe for more detail (Exception from HRESULT:0x800736B1.)"        The Evn log viewer mesaage is as given below: Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Tektronix\TekRobo\TekRobo.dll". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.   Actually the dll which has a problem is originally developed in VC++ and it is using Win32 APIs. Recendly I have moved the code base from VC6 to VS2008 and I have compiled the dlls in 64 bit mode. Any thoughts? Thanks,Mohan Mohan das Gandhi

web deployment project (WS_deploy) on VS2008

I am building a asp.net webservice in VS2008 and the web service compiles and debug fine. The project should be using : Net 3,5

 I have

  1. VS2005 and VS208 installed
  2. .Net 1.1 - 3.5
  3. WebDeploymentSetup for VS2008 (and most likely a version for VS2005 as well)

But when I add a web deployment project the fun stops. The .WS_deploy project will not compile and I cannot find any precompiled output.

Moved from WinXP to Win7 - don't see choice to open file in read only or edit mode

I just recently moved from Win XP Pro SP3 to Win 7 32-bit Pro. I am logging into domain X normally. Our Sharepoint 2007 server authenticates only on domain Y. So I start Internet Explorer with "run as different user" and provide my domain Y credentials. All fine.

In win XP, after I did this, when I click on an Excel file on Sharepoint, I would get a dialog asking if I wanted to check out and edit or open as read only.

In win7, I don't get that choice. The file simply opens, and I get a bar at the top which allows me to check out the file if I wanted to.

How can I restore the functionality I used to have, with the dialog for checking out the file before opening it?

[WPF 4] Win7 Touch not works on custom desktop (CreateDesktop, SwitchDesktop)

I am working on an application which should run on a custom desktop created by the CreateDesktop Win32 method. The desktop switching and the custom desktop works well. My application uses WPF 4 with C# and should work on a Win7 based notebook with touchscreen. When running on the normal desktop everything works fine, but when I try to run it on my custom desktop the touch screen does something strange. When I try to click a button using touch, the button visually responds (so the buttons background will be light blue as normally under Vista/7), but the click event never occurs, if I click the button using the mouse everything works fine. > I did some tests and got the following results: [WPF and WinForms] Both mouse and touch events work well on the normal desktop in every case [WPF] Touch events DO NOT WORK on the custom desktop (for eaxmple TouchDown never fires) [WPF] Mouse events with the mouse work well on the custom desktop (Click with mouse) [WPF] Mouse events with touchscreen DO NOT WORK on the custom desktop (Click/Tap with finger) [WinForms] Mouse events with the mouse work well on the custom desktop (Click with mouse) [WinForms] Mouse events with touchscreen WORK WELL on the custom desktop (Click/Tap with finger) > I have also tried some other apps on the custom desktop: Paint works well, also with multi-touch. Touch Keyboard works well. Windows can b

[VS2008] Designer's display problem

Hello, I created a solution with multi-project and i've recently added some resources files to lacalized my application and of course my XAML files too. I used the "How To:" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dd882554(v=VS.95).asp I inserted the class LocalizedString in one off my project that I use as library for common actions. But since, my designer is not loading properly because it can't find this class while I precised the good assembly and that the application is running properly with resources applied. It's then not handy to develop an HMI... If anybody has an idea about this trouble... Of course I tried dozens of times to clear the projects and regenerate without success. Thank you for your help !

Can Not load WPF project in Visual Studio 2005 on Win7 64 system, says "Project file not supported b

Dear all I am facing an issue in creating new wpf project or loading a WPF project in Visual studio 2005. I have installed Visual Studio 2005 Service pack - 1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=bb4a75ab-e2d4-4c96-b39d-37baf6b5b1dc&displaylang=en) but still I can not see the option for wpf project  while creating a new project. Generally we can see WPF listing under item File -->New-->Project--> ".Net Framework 3.0" in VS 2005. I have few WPF project and when i try to load them it says "Project file not supported by this Installation". My System Config is given below: OS: Windows 7 (64 Bit) VS: Visual Studio 2005 with Service Pack 1 .Net Framework: 3.5 (By default inbuilt in Win7 OS)   I am suspecting something bugging related to .Net framework 3.0 in Win7. We have one option in control panel to alter .NetFramework 3.5 under "Turn Windows Features on or Off" but there I can not see something related to 3.0 :-(.   Kindly suggest how can I load my existing project and how can enable option to create new wpf Projects.   I saw few solutions suggested by people on following Thread bt most of them related to Windows XP or Vista: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vswpfdesigner/thread/06cf7bca-982c-44cf-aec9-99cf399b3000 Do someone has solution for Windows 7 (64 bit OS)

VS2010: Upgrading projects from VS2008

I just upgraded my VS2008 solution to VS2010 and have run into a problem. I have a .NET C# application that references a managed C++ DLL, which in turn links to a native static library. All this works just fine. However, whenever I attempt to run the C# application, Visual Studio claims that the native static library is out of date and must be recompiled. It does that even after I've just compiled the native library. When allowing VS2010 to build the native project, the only thing it does is this: 1>  LibraryName.vcxproj -> C:\Bleh\Blah\LibraryName.lib Is there a way I can figure out what's causing VS2010 to think the project is out of date?

VS2008 BIDS Report export to Excel not grouping the same as VS2005

I have a report that I created in VS2005 BIDS and got it to export to Excel to group/subtotal the same way it does in the BIDS report window.  Now I have copied the .rdl files to a VS2008 project, open it in VS2008 BIDS, made NO changes to the report format and the exported Excel file is combining what should be the 2nd and 3rd groups into 1 group.  In the BIDS window, the grouping is working correctly.  Does anyone have any ideas what has changed between 2005 & 2008 that may cause this problem?  Thanks in advance.

VS2008 and C#: How to create PictureBox controls programmatically in a FlowLayoutPanel ?

I am trying to create multiple PictureBox controls in a FlowLayoutPanel programmatically. The number of the PictureBox controls is dynamic depending on the target image folder.
