Missing column statistics from default trace

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I am seeing Missing statistics events on my default trace and was wondering whether I need to create statistics on the table. Missing Column Statistics Is this a good practice considering the advice on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190397.aspx

Many Missing Column Statistics errors on full-text index fragments, even after reorganizing catalog

I seem to have a large number of full-text index fragments, even after reorganizing both full-text catalogs. (SQL 2008)

While reviewing the results of the default trace, I noticed many “Missing Column Statistics” errors.  Seeing as how there are over a thousand of these errors within a 12 hour period, I figure this is something I should take care of.

From trace, text data column:

  NO STATS:([MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[colid], [MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[pid], [MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[docidmax], [MyDBName].[sys].[ifts_comp_fragment_2014778570_51269].[dupseq])

When I query sys . fulltext_index_fragments , I see about 15 different fragments for each catalog, all with a status of 4.  I expected to see many more fragments listed, with a status of 0 maybe?  I guess I’m misunderstanding something.

After reorganizing the catalogs, I’m still seeing these

Modified column missing when sorting

I resently updated few document libraries on my sharepoint site.  What I did I removed "Content approval" from those libraries and now my modified and created columns are missing from the columns of the list (appear to be hidden ).  So, I need to be able to sort by these columns and I have seen many people asking about this same question but I haven't found any answer to this issue.  The columns are still there but I they dont show up in the columns of the library.  I can still create a view with this columns but i cant sort by them.

Is this a bug or is there a reason why sharepoint does this?

Change Default Column Value programatically

On a Document Library Settings Page, there is a new setting in SP2010: "Change Default Column Value". Changing the default value of the Field is different from this value. Does anyone know what this value is and where to set it programatically? Also, what libraries is this setting available on? This code updates the field's default value but not the property mentioned above: SPField field = list.Fields["Column"]; field.DefaultValue = "DefaultValue"; field.Update(); Thanks!

What lists and what column types allow for setting "column default value settings"

There is a new setting for lists in 2010 called "Column default value settings". What lists does this setting apply to (I think just lists with a base template of Document Library)? And for what column types is it available? It was available on a "Single line of text" column but not a lookup column. Thanks in advance!

SQL 2005 Server export to Foxpro fails by "default codepage missing"

Hi, I just tried to apply the foxpro driver VFPOLEDBSetup.msi to import and export an old format dbf. First of all no other method is available in this case, as one of the dbf-tables holds about 9 million rows. I don't want to (manually) go to excel and wait for 10 years importing it there, then only to discover i need another 10 years to get it into sql server.   Here's my task at hand: Source: street/housenumber database with approx 9 million rows Task:  Convert it to SQL server database (import DTS)           Change some data Export it back to DBF format. I don't have any problems acting on the first two steps (dts import to SQL 2k5 and changing data) I doooo have some problems with the last part. As soon as i define the DTS through the wizzard, it leaves the "CodePage" blank. However, upon executing it i receive some warnings and finally errors: On the "Setting Destination Connection" action in the final execution progress window: - Setting Destination Connection (Warning) Messages Warning 0x80202066: Destination - housenum [40]: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. If the component does not support the property, the co

Replication entries filling up default trace

I have noticed that a lot of replication related entries are filling up the default trace of my SQL installation, I like the default trace and like to use it for valuable information gathering. One thing that I do notice however is that its being filled with entries like   dbcc setinstance ("SQL Replication Distribution", "Dist:Delivery Latency", @agent_name, @delivery_latency)      dbcc incrementinstance ("SQL Replication Distribution", "Dist:Delivered Trans/sec", @agent_name, @new_delivered_transactions)          dbcc addinstance ("SQL Replication Distribution", @agent_name)            Anywhere I can turn this off and avoid such messages from being logged in the default trace.

handling default notnull column in linq to sql

About login name data column in DTA trace

Hi Experts,

In our organisation we r running microsoft dynamics nav as client and sql server 2008 std as backend, and at database level there is not a single user with showplan permission so, what i think is to exclude loginname data column from DTA trace. Am i right Sir? (As per my understanding).

Is there any script to view all  permissions for all user?

Does this way DTA would tune my DB as it should be? Or Is there any other fine way?

Thanks in advance

multiple default value on a choice column

can I have multiple default value on a choice column?

Calculated column Default Value not retained in site template.

On a new blank site, create a custom list and make these changes to the Title field:

  1. Change the name to Date
  2. Change Required to No
  3. Change Default Value: to Calculated Value
  4. Enter the formula "=TEXT(Today,"d-mmm-yyyy")" so that it defaults to today's date

Save thsi site as a template, then create another site based on this template. Items 1 and 2 above are carried over to the new site but items 3 and 4 revert to the default setting.

Does anyone know how to get around this ... er ... abnomaly?

Default Column Values in a Document Library (SP2010) do not show up in word 2010 until you save and

when you create a document in a SP 2010 document library (of a particular content type, by clicking new, letter (content type name) in sharepoint for example) which has default values set on in in the library (set by using library settings -> change default column values), the default values do not show up until you create the document , save it and reopen it again.  Is this a bug or by design.  If it is by design, it is horrible since if some of the column default values are mandatory in the content type then you actually have to type them in before you could possibly save the file which defeats the whole point of having default column values.  Also it is tremendously clunky for a user to have to create file, save it , close it, and reopen it just to view the default metadata in the document information panel that is supposed to be there.

Anyone have any thoughts/solutions to this problem?

Missing default instance

I am in a new company now and my machine has SQL Server 2008 installed. The only problem is, from what I am told, none of the machines here have a local instance installed, just connections to external instances such as a development and production environments. Without having the installation disc, is it possible to install a local instance on my machine without raising any red flags? If so, can you please provide the steps involved? Also would anyone know why a company would not want a local instance installed on a machine? It makes no sense because live data can still be accessed at external sources. Thanks in advance for any help.

Using "select" as default in list choice column

I have some choice columns in a list.  I set the first item in the choice to read "Select".  However, if that field was not changed (it's not required) it displays the "select" on views and in the DisplayForm.aspx.  Is there a way to have it NOT display anything?  I tried setting the column to not show anything for the default, but it wouldn't work.
There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

Default Trace enabled but not running

We have a clustered instance of SQL 2005 SP2 and while trying to troubleshoot a problem the other day, we noticed that the default trace is enabled, yet it's not running.  I've searched Microsoft Forums and Google in general yet I cannot seem to find anything about this particular situation.  Any advice would be appreciated.   I haven't tried to disable and re-enable it yet, I didn't want to destroy any evidence that might be there.

I guess my question is "What could cause the default trace to stop and not leave any trace files on the drive?"

document library column header is missing

When I open any document libraries within a specified site collection, I found out they all missing column headers. I could not do sorting on the columns. Anyone knows why?

Thanks in advance,

Missing default SharePoint Webparts

Hi all,

I've just performed an upgrade on a SharePoint 2007 Content Database, the log says the following default sharepoint webparts are missing. This problem wasn't encountered when I set up the dev and test farms, just my luck it had to occur when doing prod. Seems to be the same problem experienced in this post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010setup/thread/ec1d9cc0-b244-49c6-b107-8f837d4130bc. As suggested I did the Mount-SPContentDatabase command from the WFE but that obviously didn't work. Any know whats going on?

Missing column in MSlogreader_history table in the distribution database

We recently built a new two node cluster on a Windows 2008 R2 64bit OS. We installed SQL 2005 64bit Enterprise with SP3 and CU7. We want to run replication from node 1 (1 instance - publisher) to node 2 ( 2 instances - distributor instance and a subscriber instance). We use scripts to build transactional replication (push). These scripts have been used before in an identical setup except it is CU3 instead of CU7. On our new setup, with CU7, the MSlogreader_history table in the distribution databse is missing the @updateable_row column. We only have 15 columns in this system table on our new CU7 setup. The older CU3 setup has 16 columns in the MSlogreader_history table including the updateable_row column.

Replication monitor shows an error stating that the sp_MSadd_logreader has too many arguments specified (Code 1007).

Why is our MSlogreader_history table missing the updateable_row column, and how can this be fixed?
