SQL Server XML Size Limit

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hello,I am aware that the maximum amount of space an xml variable can hold is 2GB, and I am fairly certain that is not my problem here; though it does seem to be some sort of size constraint.. kind of? First, my example code, basically generating xml from a table of 4 columns and 275 records: -------------------------------------------------------------------/* SETUP */use tempdbgocreate table mytest (col0 int,col1 varchar(30),col2 varchar(30), col3 varchar(30))godeclare @v intset @v=0while @v<275begin  insert into mytest values (@v,                             'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA',                             'BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB',                             'CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC')  set @v=@v+1end/* TEST */DECLARE @xmlDoc XMLSET @xmlDoc = (                SELECT 'BEGIN' as '@BEGIN',                      ( SELECT col0 as '@REC_NUM',                               col1,                                col2,                               col3                          FROM mytest                        FOR XML PATH('MYPATH'), TYPE )                FOR XML PATH('XML'), root('ROOT')                )SELECT @xmlDoc as 'WHY IS THIS EMPTY?'/* CLEANUP */drop table mytest------------------------------------------------------------------- My problem is that after creating and populating the table, the code in the 'TEST' section does

database size limit about SQL Server 2005 Express

I know that there is a size limit (4 GB) for SQL Server 2005 Express, but I am not quite sure if the limit is applied for only ONE database data file or for ALL the database data, suppose I have two databases DB1 and DB2, so which of the following statement is correct? A. The size limit for DB1 is 4GB, and the size limit for DB2 is also 4GB, so if DB1 is 3G and DB2 is 3.5G,that will be OK. B. The total size for both DB1 and DB2 can not be larger than 4GB, which means if DB1 is 3G, then DB2 can not be large than 1G.

Database server connection limit exceeded..

I have an SSIS package and have been adding additional DFTs to it.  Where there are dependencies between transformations I identify them.  However where things can procceed in parallel I do not constrain them form a control flow standpoint.  After adding another DFT I am now getting package failure due to "Database server connection limit exceeded" (my local source database is SQL Anywhere and it has a max connections of 10 in production it will be full blown Sybase and will probably not be so constrained).  I think I can solve the problem just my making control flow dependencies to reduce the amount of parallel activity but I am wondering if there are other things I should consider doing.  For instance are there other settings I can tweak that tell SSIS to run parallel up to X connections out of a connection pool? (or something like that). Some may comment that this relates to my post of yesterday on package strategy (master-child packages or one big package).  I still have one big package for now but may break it into master-child.  Still I think I can control the amount of parallel activities through control flow even if it remains one package. Any thoughts or comments on this would be appreciated. - Charles PS - just ran my package and this time it succeeded - sometimes I hit the limit of 10 connections sometimes not...

Can a row on a "SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5" have more than 8000B in size ?

Hello, I am trying to use SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 for a desktop PC application. I need to have a table with 5 columns. One of this columns will contain a data that can grow up to 1MB in size. I have read in wikipedia specifications that the maximum row size, this engine is capable to handle, is of 8000B. However, when designing the table, I can choose "image" type. So, can a row on that table have more than 8000B in size? Is there a maximmum limit ? Cheers Valentin

How to calculate a SQL Server performance of a query based upon table schema, table size, and availa

Hi What is the best way to calculate (without actual access to a SQL Server) the processing speed of a query (self-inner-join) based upon table schema, table size, and hardware (CPU, RAM, Drives)? ThanksThanks Jeff in Seattle

transport size limit for WCF

Hi, I am returning a Cashflow object from a WCF service, like this. [OperationContract] [ServiceKnownType(typeof(Cashflow))] Cashflow GetCashflow();   The cashflow objects contains a list of double values. After receiving the cashflow object in the WCF client, i am printing the double values contained in it in a text   file. It works well, till the file size is around 500 kb. If the cashflow object is bigger, meaning, the list contains more double values, I get an exception "An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to http://server.corp.net:1000/service.svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details." When I saw the logs in the IIS, the sc-status was 200 and sc-win32-status was 64. I have put maxReceivedMessageSize as 2147483648 in the config file of the client. I am using the wsHttpBinding. I think that I am getting the error coz I am trying to transport a large amount of data through WCF. But in that case the standard error is "The maximum message size quota for incoming messages has been exceeded. To increase the quota, use the MaxReceivedMessageSize property on the appropriate binding element." Is it possible in some way to return very large data objects

increase initial size in SQL Server 2008 with Advanced Reporting Services

What is the maximum size a database using SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services  can grow to?  I currently have one that is 204.44 MB with 0 space free.  Growth is set to Auto.  How can I increase the database size in this version?  I would like to allow it to be at least 400 MB?  May I simply increase the Initial Size to be 400 MB; and then increase the log file size to be 2 MB (currenlty set to 1)?  The enable autogrowth is set to grow automatically by 10 percent.

limit size of a bar on bar chart when we have a single bar in ssrs 2005

Hi I am having TOP N(N=15,25,50) report which is parameterized.i.e when user selects the 'N' eg(15) value from the drop down list the query is going to pull TOP 15 record and display on report in a barchart form.Report is working well at  this point. But when user selects N=15 and we are having only one record then that record is occupying whole space and forming a square on report. Can anyone say how to limit size of that bar so that it is not going to form as a square and display on report

Thanks in advance.

SharePoint 2010 Client Object Model upload size limit

for the client object model i found 2 methods for uploading files:

  • Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.File.SaveBinaryDirect
  • Mircrosoft.SharePoint.Client.FileCollection.Add

The 1st methods use a stream and the 2nd use a byte-array as parameter. This morning i noticed that with the Add-Method of the FileCollection-Class I only can upload files which are smaller than 3 MB. With larger files I get always the exception (400 - Bad request).

The SaveBinaryDirect-Method seem to have no upload size limit. I can upload files which are 50 MB large. Unfortunatley it gives me no return value, but i like to get an object with id/guid for later operations (update/delete).

Is it possile to change the upload size limit for the add-method?

Thanks for help!
