Error connecting to Remote report server database in SQL Server 2008 R2 DataCenter Edition

I am trying to configure my report server installed on Server A to point to a reporting services DB on Server B. I am able provide the name and test the connection. However, when i click next on the configuration wizard after providing the Server A name I am receiving the below error: The feature: "Remote access to report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services I have SQL Server 2008 R2 DataCenter Edition on both the servers.

SQL Server 2008 Windows Authentication Mode fails for Database Engine, error 18456

I installed SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition (10.0.1600.22.080709-1414) on a Windows Vista 32-bit development machine with Windows Authentication Mode only (no SQL Server Authentication).   Since this is a development machine, I saw no need for Mixed Mode when I did the install.  The SQL Server Management Studio allows me to login to Analysis Services, Integration Services, Reporting Services, BUT NOT the Database Engine!Windows Authentication for the Database Engine gives the following error: EventID: 18456Login failed for user MYDOMAIN\MYLOGIN'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>]The 'fix' I have found online is to login as SA in SQL Server Authentication mode & add MYDOMAIN\MYLOGIN as a administrator for the Database Engine.  Unfortunately, I can't since I didn't install SQL Server Authentication mode (only Windows Authentication Mode).  It appears my only recourse is to uninstall, then reinstall in Mixed mode, then to login as SA in SQL Server Authentication mode & add MYDOMAIN\MYLOGIN as a administrator for the Database Engine. Before I do so, does anyone know of a better approach?Scott D Duncan

I am loading sql server 2008 r2 developer edition into Windows Vista Home Basic. Product loads correctly with no error messages; except will not create database engine. And will not create integration services. When I try to open MMC, I will get error "MMC could not initialize the snap-in. Product may not have been installed correctly."

I understand this is a known issue for SQL Server 2008 RD installing on Windows Vista? What is the workaround or fix? Hot fixes available for this issue from support.microsoft.com do not install on my Windows Vista Home Basic machine.

Restoring 2008 Database with Filestream - Process cannot access file error

I'm trying to restore a copy of a database that has a filestream and am getting the error below. I've tried with move option to specify a new path and left it with default path, neither worked. Did a trace with procmon, didn't see anything. FileStream1 is a new folder that the restore process creates. I've deleted the folder, tried it with a new name, re-took the backup from the source machine, restarted SQL, rebooted the machine, drive permissions are open. I've run out of ideas on how to debug further. Looking up the error online wasn't much help either. Msg 3634, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The operating system returned the error '32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)' while attempting 'OpenFile' on 'X:\Data\FileStream1\4ecb2e48-0eee-4c99-a3f0-f1e6c7f00b24\f2efe374-9481-4c1b-a7f2-dcdcee350807\0000001b-0000aaa6-00f6'. No Servers listed under Database Engine in SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2.

Where to begin. It's late so I hope I can be clear. I have installed SQL Server 2008. I am running Windows Server 2008 R2. I have installed SQL Server four times and I continue to have issues connecting to the Database Engine. Installation has gone without a problem at least to my knowledge I have not been presented with any errors. I have also created a local administrator account called "spadmin" to use to connect to the SQL Server database and to use with SharePoint 2010. Which brings me to the reason why I want to run SQL Server - I want to evaluate the latest SharePoint Server 2010 and WSS. Unfortunately, I have not been able to go beyond installing SQL Server and connecting to the database, because there is no database instance showing under the Database Engine, except under Integration Services. I have the following services installed: SQL Acitivey Directory Helper Service SQL Full-text-Filder Daemon Launcher SQL Server SQL Server Agent SQL Server Analysis Service SQL Server Browser SQL Server Integration Services 10.0 SQL Server Reporting Services SQL Server VSS Writer Am I missing something? I have been following several online instructions on how to install SQL Server 2008 and I can't seem to find where I may have gone wrong. After I install SQL Server 2008 am I supposed to see the default instance (MSSQLSERVER) listed under the Database Eng

Error when running an SQL script to restore a database on SQL Server 2008 R2 Express

Hi, At work, I use SQL Server 2008 Express running on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. At home, I also use SQL Server 2008 Express running on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. Whenever I do work on the database at work, I usually restore the database at home (or vice versa) I have been using the following SQL scripts to back up the database and to restore the same database (at work or at home). BackupRealEstate.sql USE Master BACKUP DATABASE [RealEstate] TO DISK = N'F:\My Documents\My Database\RealEstate.bak' WITH NOFORMAT, INIT, NAME = N'RealEstate-Full Database Backup', SKIP, NOREWIND, NOUNLOAD, STATS = 10 GO RestoreRealEstate.sql USE Master RESTORE DATABASE [RealEstate] FROM DISK = N'F:\My Documents\My Database\RealEstate.bak' WITH  FILE = 1, NOUNLOAD, REPLACE, STATS = 10 GO Everything worked fine until I replaced my 8yo home computer with a newer and faster one. My new home computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium and I use the latest SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. When I tried to run the above restore SQL script, I got the following error message: Msg 3101, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use. Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. There was no other application/process using this database. Can someone please help me? Regards,

Getting Error in Database Mail in SQL 2008

Hi,

I have configured Database Mail using sp_send_dbmail in SQL 2008. It was working fine but then it suddenly stops working

I tried to send a test e-mail from the Database Mail, and I got the following error message:

Getting below error:

Mail not queued. Database Mail is stopped. Use sysmail_start_sp to start Database Mail. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 14641)

just installed Express on Windows7, SSMS does not see the database engine

Installed MSSQL Express 2008 R2 64-bit on my Toshiba Satellite netbook running Windows 7 (Home).

During the installation I named the local instance 'SQLEXPRESS_XXX' the XXX is a placeholder for my initials, which I don't want to say on the forum.

I checked the config manager and it sees the services for the named instance and corresponding SQL Server Agent service, both are stopped.  I noticed both TCP/IP and named pipes were disabled, I enabled named pipes.

But when I start SSMS there is no database engine shown, when I type the instance name it can't connect.  I tried registering it, started it from the config mgr, and it could not connect using window auth.

Not sure how to fix this issue, when I have installed earlier version couple years ago (MSDE) as soon as I brought up SSMS the first time the local instance appeared in the list.
