mdx ratio of parent report

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi Guys, I’d like to calculate the percentage ratio of dimension members but… it should be time dynamic … What I have so far… with member [Measures].[RatioToParent] As ( Sum (PeriodsToDate ( [Times].[Timeline].[Year ID], [Times].[2010-09-03] ),[Measures].[Encounter Count]) ) / ( [Measures].[Encounter Count], [Hosp].[Hospital].[ALL] ), Format = "Percent" select {[Measures].[Encounter Count], [Measures].[RatioToParent]} on columns, [Hosp].[Hospital].[Hosp].members on rows from [Hpm Reporting]   The query above should show for each hospital the ratio of the patient encounters form 01-01-2010 to 09-03-2010.  The issue I have is the denominator [Measures].[Encounter Count], [Hosp].[Hospital].[ALL];  The way the query above is written the denominator includes all the encounters for all times and that doesn’t makes sense. I’d like the total encounters over all hospitals also from 01-01-2010 to 09-03-2010…I tried different options to accomplish this but nothing worked so far… Any hint into the right direction would be much appreciated… Thx a bunch

Back Button for Parent Report

Hello all, I have created a summary report and have the hyperlink set up to jump to another detail report. In BIDS, when I get to the detail report, there is an option to go back to the parent report. But when I publish these reports to Report Manager, that back button is not there. Does anyone know a workaround to this? I really want the user to be able to go back to the summary report when they are done looking at the details. We are working on SSRS 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SSRS 2008R2 - go back to parent report does not work sharepoint integrated mode

I'm currently using SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SQL Server 2008R2 with the SharePoint RS add-in. I have a report with a drilldown to another report.  I can drill down correctly to the other report.  But when I do the "go back to parent report" it will take me back to the parent report, but when I try to drilldown again to another report, I get the following error. "Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near ' <!DOCTYPE html PUB'. Line: 5 Char: 62099" When I run this report in VS 2008 or Report Builder 3, I have no problems drilling down and back and forth. I only have an issue when I deploy the report to SharePoint.  I have also accessed the RDL directly outside of a webpart page, but still get the same error. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue?

Excel Export Report with Parent Child Dimension OLAP

Hi,

I have a problem with a reporting services 2005 report.

The data source is OLEDB for OLAP 9.

The report contains all the members of a parent child dimension. An example of the implementation is defined in the post following the forum msdn:
Http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=138549&SiteID=1.

The report works fine in web. The problem is when the report is exported as Excel, the groups disappeared and the entire dimension is ragged down.

Normally toggled groups in reporting services are exported to Excel with the appearance '+' or '-' on the

Ratio to Parent by Multiple Dimensions on both Row and Column Axes

Hi,

I recently read "Percentage of Parent for all dimensions" thread ...To say the least, it was eye-opening...The amount of effort and detailed explanation that Tomislav Piasevoli put in was tremendous and helpful. I'm doing the same thing for our BI requirements, and I practically copied the entire code and see that it works for dimensions that are being identified on both Axes (Column / Row). However, the code is not a perfect solution for my situation.It seems that the calculation only works for any single Dimension on each Axis.  If I select more than one dimension onto the Colum / Row axes, the results came out incorrectly for the inner dimensions.

Note that: The possible dimensions that will be used for the "Ratio to Parent" are as follows:

Parent report parameters not maintained when going back from sub report

I have just managed to integrate SharePoint 2010 (just installed last week so we pretty much use latest sp and fixes) with SSRS 2008 SP2 (no unfortunately not R2 we had a reason for that)

Most parts work but unfortunately we have a huge problem going back to a parent report from a sub report.

The parameters pane doesn't change back to the 'original' parameters pane from the parent report and this of cause result in an script error when trying to process another sub report from the same parent. The parameters obviously doesn't fit.

I have read the following very similar thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-ZA/sqlreportingservices/thread/fa6d9b5a-eef5-43d9-8906-36c7eac33796

But it doesn't really give me anything to work with.

Having many parameters and quite a long excution time on the parent report. It is not really an option to run it each time we want to find details through the sub report. (I write as if we only have one parent/sub but we have many ...)

I have a test setup where the DB and SSRS is 2008R2 and it is the same problem.

Everything worked fine with SharePoint2007 and SSRS2008 SP2

Is this a known bug? Is there a fix or a workaround ?

Please help

GridView Parent Child View with JQuery Effects

I was just checked how to add some more cool effects to the GridView control using JQuery. In this post I will display parent-child data in the GridView control with some help of the wonderful JQuery library.

Let's first populate the GridView control.

Alternating row background for first column of a report

is there a way to make the first column of a report use the an alternating background color?

I have the background color set for the entire row however it does not work for the first column if the color is set to an expression.  If I just set it to a color i.e. red it works just fine. If I insert a dummy column to the left it works just fine (but the dummy column does not work, presumably because it is first??).

In the file below only the textbox for part number does not show an alternating background.  All others work correctly.

<TableRows>
            <TableRow>
              <TableCells>
                <TableCell>
                  <ReportItems>
                    <Textbox Name="PartNumber">

Composite Control which contains arbitrary content defined in .aspx of parent and thier ViewState

I want to write own control which can contain other. And I want to define content of the control in the .aspx file where the control is defined. I have written such control. But now I have issue with ViewState of inner controls of my control. The following samle illustrates the issue: I defined two asp:DropDownList ID="ddl1" and ID="ddl2" One of them is inside of my control and other is outside. When posback is occurred asp:DropDownList ID="ddl1 loses state and becomes empty. How to say ASP.net to store state of inner controls defined by this way?

MyControl.ascx:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="MyControl.ascx.cs" Inherits="DynamicControls.Controls.MyControl" %>

How to use report viewer 2010 in VS 2008

I downloaded report viewer 2010 from here

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=a941c6b2-64dd-4d03-9ca7-4017a0d164fd

Now I want to actually use it in a website.  How do I do that?  Do I have to modify some part of web.config?  Specifically, what do I need to change?

Thanks
