passing messageContract object to a WCF Service method using Soap - not as a method parameter

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF
i want a web application to create a service reference to my WCF service, insert information to the header of the soap call and call my WCF method. my WCF supports soap operations (also there is an endpoint in the config). i read about MessageContract attribute and declared one in the interface file: [ServiceContract] public interface IBasicService { [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "GetData?value={value}")] // Add support for HTTP GET Requests string GetData(int value); } [MessageContract] public class BasicServiceHeader { [MessageHeader] public string myString; } the implementation of the contract : public class BasicService : IBasicService { public string GetData(int value) { return string.Format("You entered: {0}", value); } } i don't want the BasicServiceHeader to be passed as a parameter of GetData function , i want to keep the function signature as it is (without a BasicServiceHeader parameter) and to extract the BasicServiceHeader inside the function, (just like using soapHeader) can i do that ?

passing values to object properties of action method parameter

I have an action method that accepts a single parm.

That parm is an object with multiple properties. MVC correctly maps values from the querystring
to properties in the parm object by matching property name to querystring value name.
Problem is, properties in the action method parm object which are themselves objects with
properties, are not assigned their matching values from the querystring. The class object has a
constructor which accepts a single string parameter.

How do I assign to properties of an action method parameter which are themselves class objects?

                <%: Html.ActionLink("Edit", "ProductMasterEdit",
                       new { ProdKey=item.ProductKey.Value,
                       ProductKey = item.ProductKey.Value })%>

    public ViewResult ProductMasterEdit(ProductMaster Item)

  public partial class ProductMaster

    public ProductKey ProductKey
      get { return new ProductKey(this.ProdKey); }
      set { this.ProdKey = value.Value; }

SOAP as input parameter in a web service method

I have a webservice method which needs to accept SOAP as input parameter. I've worked webservices between .NET clients but I've never worked using raw SOAP so I don't know what to do. The format of the input like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<S:Envelope xmlns:S = "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <ns2:RemoteService xmlns:ns2 = "some.ns.url">
        <param2>Asd Qwe</param2>
        <param3 xsi:nil = "true" xmlns:xsi = "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"/>
    </ns2:RemoteService >

How should my method input be to accept this SOAP as parameter?

I'm using ASP.NET web services not WCF.

Passing Parameters to Web Service Method using XML DataSource

I would like to know how to pass parameter values to a web service that I am using as a data source.  I am using the Data Source Type XML.  I have been able to retrieve data back from the web service method that does not require parameters.  But I need to be able to use a web service that requires parameter values.  How do you use the XML data source type with parameters?  I have use information from the article  http://www.codeproject.com/KB/reporting-services/SSRS2005XML.aspx. thanks, Lloyd

Calling a method with a class object as parameter data type.

   [WebMethod]    public string GetInfo(Customer inCust)    {        // Code in here    } I have a web service that resides on a remote server. I want to call a public method of theweb service named  "GetInfo". The method is shown above. The web service method expects a class object oftype "Customer". What I did to create a Customer object was to define in my asp.net project my own class named "Customer" which is exactlythe same as the class that belongs to the web service project on the remote server. I then created an instance of Customerand tried to call the web service passing in an object of type customer : my.Service ws = new my.Service(); // Get web service connectionCustomer aCustomer = new Customer();aCustomer.Initialize();ws.GetInfo(aCustomer) // call web service passing in a Customer object The problem is that the compiler gives me the following error: Value of type '_Default.Customer' cannot be converted to 'ws.Class1'. Here Default is refering to my Default.aspx.cs code. Why is this? Do I need to Cast my "aCustomer" class object to a type ofws.Customer ? How do I do that?

Parameter names ending with "specified" added to web service method call

Hello,I am new to WCF. I created a wcf web service and the generated web method exposed by wcf has some additional boolean parameters with names that end with "Specified".I am trying to understand why are these additional parameters necessary and how to get rid of them. Thanks!David

reposted with no help: passing a string parameter to a web method

I have a web form (html) and I'm trying to pass a single string as a parameter to my web method, (this should be simple but no one can seem to answer me)

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
        var qs = new Querystring();
        var v1 = qs.get("TorVName");
        //var jsonData = JSON.stringify(v1);
        //var list = v1;
        //var jsonText = JSON.stringify({ list: list });
        $().ready(function() {
                type: "POST",
                url: "Default.aspx/GetColumns?TorVName=" + v1,
                data: {},
                contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",

CreateDocument method in CMIS Object Service raising the Constraint Violation Exception

HI All,

Below are the code snippet for rasing the above exception like  "The operation violates a Repository- or Object-level constraint defined in the CMIS domain model. "

Best method for typing a custom object thru a web service

I have several web services with a custom business object being used as a parameter (MyNamespace.MyBizObj).

After I create my web references that same  business object gets retyped to whatever web service that is is in Example:

webserviceRef1.MyBizObj, webserviceRef2.MyBizObj, webserviceRef3.MyBizObj

Right now my UI isn't allowing me to retype this object back to the object that I need. In essence I need one unified version of this object that I can use across web services.

Thinking about new C# method prototypes: object as dictionary

I recently had to write a small Flickr API. I know many .Net API for Flickr already exist but I needed one for a Silverlight application. Whatever, it's only about building some querystrings so I did it by myself. It's been an opportunity to think again about a classical question: how to pass parameters to a method ?

Imagine you have a generic method to call some Flickr functions.

Jscript error: Object does not support property or method

 Hi, i have little knowledge on javascript but i need to use this code get from somewhere for a jquery to work.

I face this "Jscript runtime error: Object does not support property or method" whenever im trying to run this page.

In my experience, im get this error msg 9 out of 10 times i use javascript in my system.

Im using Microsoft Visual web developer 2008, i wonder if this is related to my problem, i not sure there is anything i need to add as reference or update anything.

But anyway, in short, i just couldn't use javascript code when using this development tool because of this sort of error.

Anyway, it happen that last time i tried use the same type of jquery code in another project and it seems to work well without an error.

But now when im try to use it again in this recent project i created, it come out with this error and i have no idea how to solve it even look through google and this forum.

It doesn't really seems like its the code problem itself although im not sure, because any javascript code just couldn't work.

So below is my code that i need to use.

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" ></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src=&quo

Cash Drawer - Method Open threw an exception - Windows Service

Hi All, I'm getting the following exception while calling Open method of Cash Drawer object. Method Open threw an exception.  Could not read the device name key's default value, or could not convert the Programmatic ID it holds into a valid Class ID. Code:   class Class1 { CashDrawer _uniCashDrawer1 = null; DeviceInfo cashDrawerDevice1 = null; PosExplorer posExplorer = new Microsoft.PointOfService.PosExplorer();   public void ClaimCashDrawer() { cashDrawerDevice1 = posExplorer.GetDevice("CashDrawer", "testDrawer"); if (cashDrawerDevice1 != null) { _uniCashDrawer1 = posExplorer.CreateInstance(cashDrawerDevice1) as CashDrawer; if (_uniCashDrawer1 != null) { _uniCashDrawer1.StatusUpdateEvent += new StatusUpdateEventHandler(UniCashDrawer1_StatusUpdateEvent); _uniCashDrawer1.Open(); _uniCashDrawer1.Claim(0); _uniCashDrawer1.DeviceEnabled = true; } } } }   Tha above code works fine if you put the code in WindowsApplication in all POS systems. The same is working if you put the code in Windows Service in all other POS systems. The same is not working if you put the code in Windows Service in Aures Galeo POS systems.  Thanks in advance. How to set and map a Method in the Service file with endpoint elements and binding elements

Hi all, I have created a service file like OSService.svc in that i have two methods like one is FileUpload and FileDownload for e.g :- [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "/fileupload/{fileName}" , Method = "POST" )]         [OperationContract]         void FileUpload(string fileName, Stream fileContents); same as Filedownload also. People you may know these methods are inside the interface of service file what you are using i'e i have created a interface as IOSService.cs. So, what i need now is i want to write separate endpoint for FileUpload and Filedownload.Because i want to set separate value for receiveTimeout  and openTimeout for the Fileupload and FileDownload process in binding section in the web.config file itself. The below code was i'm using right now but still i'm not able to the set separate value of endpoint elements in the bindings. EndPoint Section:- <endpoint name = "endPoint1"  address  = "localhost:8000/OSService.svc/" bindingConfiguration = "TransactionalTCP"   binding  = "netTcpBinding"          contract = "IOSService"/> Binding Section:-  <binding name = "TransactionalTCP"  transactionFlow = "true"   /&

WCF Method that receive GET AND SOAP Requests

i created a WCf service with a method that can receive GET requests using WebGET attribute, i want the same method to receive Soap calls too (that when the programmer does a Service reference to the WCF, he will be able to call the method). my interface is:   [ServiceContract] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "GetData?value={value}")] string GetData(int value); }   My configuration is: <configuration> <system.web> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" /> </system.web> <system.serviceModel> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="MyServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true"/> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="WebBehavior"> <webHttp /> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> <services> <service name="WCFTestingGetService.Service1" behaviorConfiguration="MyServiceBehavior" > <endpoint address="" binding="webHttpBinding" contract="WCFTestingGetService.IService1" behaviorConfiguration="Web

Object does not support this property or method....

This is a pretty straightforward piece of code. Why am I getting this error on line 5 char1?<script type="text/javascript"> function resubmit() { var recip = document.getElementById("web_recip"); var ind=recip.indexof("?resubmit"); if (ind>0){ recip=recip.replace("?resubmit",""); var resub=document.getElementById("resub"); resub.value="Y"; } } </script>

Thanks in advance! Rgds

PUT method gives error 400 "Bad Request" in WCF REST Service Application

I am trying to learn WCF REST Services through http://blogs.msdn.com/endpoint/archive/2010/01/14/updating-state-in-wcf-webhttp-services.aspx , It's a link of Part 3 of 12 part blog series. Now I am trying the same stuff given in the part 3 with my own Entities and Entity Model instead of what is given in the blog. Here is my full project I am working on .. http://cid-9e3f62c0688824b0.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/pronerveEPMS.zip For comparision with the code shown in the Blog I am following, you can download the zip file of the project from the same link given here at starting (At the end of the blog and before comments starts).
