Customize a view to My Profile?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
We'd like to use SharePoint My Sites as a repository for Curriculum Vitaes. Obviously we can centrally add fields to the profile, providing the fields for the CV. However, is there any way to customize a specific view into the My Profile, that would work for all users? Can't seem to be able to open the MySites Site Collection in SPD even. Is this so restricted that what I'm looking for is practically impossible?

Customize calendar to view next month

I was wondering if there is a way to change the calendar view on SharePoint so that it defaults to next month.  Will I have to create a custom web part for this functionality or can I create a view and manipulate it with filters? Thank you in advance.

Customize the User Profile page

I need to add a "link" or "button" to the User Profile page (userdisp.aspx).  In SP2007, I had a custom feature that would forward the user to a custom aspx page, but that doesn't appear to work in 2010.  Is there a recommended method of customizing the User Profile page in 2010?

How to customize the SharePoint Gantt view

A SharePoint Gantt view is made of two sections: the Gantt view itself (not customizable), and underneath a “summary list” that displays the task properties. How can we remove the “Summary list” sections? We want to display only the Gantt view itself at one place on our site.

SharePoint Designer 2007 - Customize List View - Error when saving view ASPX page

We have a custom list definition that includes custom site columns.  When we try to open one of the list view aspx pages in SharePoint to update the view query we get an error when trying to save the page in SharePoint Designer 2007.  We receive a warning that the operation will customize the page from the site definition, which is fine.  And then get a general "Server error: ServiceRequestorID" alert.  ServiceRequestorID is a custom site column used by the list definition.

ServiceRequestorID field definition:

<Field ID="{FA39D24D-AB40-4b1d-BD80-94ABE34A7578}" Name="ServiceRequestorID" DisplayName="Service Requestor ID" StaticName="

how to customize the graphical summary view of the survey list

Hi, I created a survey list with a number of open questions. The out-of-box graphical summary view, however, list all questions by default.

This means one bar for every single answer of each open question because most of those answers are expected to be unique.. I tried using Javascript trick to hide certain questions, but there is simply no identifier I can use for each question block..

Is there any way I can choose what questions to present in the graphical view or any other workaround..

Thanks in advance

Life is simple.

Customize Profile Page

I am currently working on a SP 2010 project. I want to add an image next to the Person’s name in the Profile page.

The following piece of code in Person.aspx page is responsible for the person’s name:

<div style="padding-top: 50px;vertical-align:top;" class="ms-name ms-contactcardtext1" id

My Profile - View "XXXXXXX" User Profile not working correctly

Our organisation is using SharePoint 2007 SP2.

We've recently discovered that when a user clicks on another user's name on a standard SharePoint site called "SharePoint Investment Site", they request a link such as...

Which redirects the user to a "My Profile" page with the address...

http://mysite.com/Person.aspx?accountname=microsoft\gatesb&Source=http://sharepointsite.com/sites/12345/_layouts/userdisp.aspx&Force=1&ID=18&Title="SharePoint Investment Site"

On the "My Profile" page, I can see microsoft\gatesb profile. On the top right of the screen I get the following links...

"View SharePoint Investment Site User Info" & "Add to My Colleagues".

Does anyone know why the "User Info" link has got "SharePoint Investment Site" in it? It's passed by userdisp.aspx in the "Title" parameter.

Also, the "User Info" link is to http://sharepointsite.com/sites/12345/_layouts/userdisp.aspx?Force=1&ID=18. Which is the URL for microsoft\gatesb, not "View SharePoint Investment Site User Info".

Can anyone help clear this mess up?

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

Six easy ways to customize your site using Web Parts in SharePoint

Becoming familiar with Web Part customization techniques gives you a range of page-customization choices. For example, you can customize your site's home page so that it displays the specific information that your team needs. You can rearrange the list items on the home page, add lists, and even change the images on the home page. As you become more familiar with Web Part Page customization techniques, you can build interactive Web Part Pages that makes the data in lists more dynamic and useful, and you can add new Web Parts that provide access to external data and Web services.

Configuring Profile Image Export in SharePoint 2010

It's no secret that I am thrilled with the new social features of SharePoint 2010. I am most excited about the new Profile Picture handling. I strongly believe that the more we can show the faces of our colleagues to one another the more connected we will feel. Clearly Microsoft feels that way as witnessed by the many features that make use of the Profile Image like the Activity Feed and Colleagues list
