User unable to edit there own announcement

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a really strange issue where a user has created an announcement and posted it with no problem at all. Now they want to go back to it and edit it but as soon as they click on their announcement it pops up with Access Denied page. I have given the user Approve permissions but this still keeps happening. A full administrator, like myself, can go in and edit it quite happily so not sure what is going on here. Our system was upgraded from 2007 to 2010 and the new 2010 interface has not yet been applied. Has anyone else seen this before?

Unable to edit user information

Hi,

I have a standalone installation of SharePoint 2010. I've created users as local accounts, not using AD. When users try to edit their information to add email addresses etc for alerts the fields are not visible.

The path is my settings>edit item>edit personal settings

The only options shown are attach file, save and cancel. All other tool bar functions are disabled.

Is this because I've not used AD? I've taken a look at the event logs but there is nothing of ay value here.

Thanks for any advice or pointers

Phil

How to let user edit selected gridview columns, not entire row

Hello!-

I've got a gridview I would like to let the user edit a couple of columns.  Seems like everything I'm coming across so far makes the entire row editable.

Hopefully the solution isn't too complicated.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Unable to Edit the properties of a document using the ribbon

I have created a new web part page and added a document library to that page.  In the ribbon the "Edit Properties" icon is enabled and I can edit the document properties.

When I add another web part to the page and go back to select a document, on the ribbon the "Edit Properties" icon is no disabled.  I can still edit the document using the context menu of the document.

Permissions on the library did not change when I added the additional web part.  The only change to the page was adding an additional web part.

Unable to Show Edit item Links in Data Form Web Part

I have a DFWP connected to custom list and the boxes to Show Edit Item Links, Show Delete item links and Show Insert Item links are grayed out so that they can not be checked. This works fine when I use a DFWP connected to a standard list (i.e., Contacts). Is there something special that needs to be done to activate this functionality?ThanksDean

Unable to validate data in User Agent: Mozilla

Hi All,Thank you for advance.Error Details : User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows XP)Message: Unable to validate data.Source: System.WebTargetSite: Byte[] GetDecodedData(Byte[], Byte[], Int32, Int32, Int32 ByRef)StackTrace:    at System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeySection.GetDecodedData(Byte[] buf, Byte[] modifier, Int32 start, Int32 length, Int32& dataLength)   at System.Web.UI.ObjectStateFormatter.Deserialize(String inputString)OS Environment : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Statandard x64 Edition and Service back 1Application Environment : Asp.net 2.0/C#We have lot aspx files but we are getting this error in register and login page only.I added the machineKey in web.config file reference with codeproject article (http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/43637/Weird-Error-Unable-to-Validate-Data-in-ASP-NET-web.aspx)but still i am getting the error.

Designer workflow + unable to edit task

I use the SPD to create a custom workflow which will assign to-do task to users. The workflow is attached to a list library in a subsite and users only have view-only permission to the subsite (users are added to the subsite directly, not inside any sharepoint group).  In order for users to complete the assigned task, I have broken the permission inheritance and change users to have contribute permission on the Task list.   The workflow would trigger as expected and a new task is created for the user. The user can see the "edit task" link in the task item but when clicked "edit task", an "access denied" error occurs.   Under further investigation, I notice access are granted for sharepoint group e.g. site visitors, site members on URL http://....../workflow/workflow_name/newtask.aspx , and only when I create the workflow under the site administrator account. If I create the workflow under an account which also has "Full Control" to the subsite, No access are granted to the workflow library at all.   What permission levels do I need to create workflows in designer really? Does it make a difference if the workflow is on a top-root site or subsite? Full control on the top-root site or subsite?   Thanks in advance.

Insert and Edit Pages with Web User Control Template for another table

Hi, I have an Address template(web user control) which holds the fields of the Address table.  The Address template is embedded in the School Insert Page.  I want to insert a new school together with its address(which means I have to insert a record into the address table).  Can you let me know how I can pass the newly generated addressId to update school table?  Also, how can I associate the Address.cs in the App_Code with the Address template?  I want it to be able to scaffold columns which needs to be hidden from user in the address table.  When I click on Insert School, the Address template shows in "insert" mode, I just need to link the two together. Thanks for your help! CC
