Crawling MOSS2007 from SP2010 gives a STS2S error

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all, We have a MOSS2007 farm and our new SharePoint 2010 intranet needs to crawl the MOSS2007 farm. A crawl test with our MOSS2007 test environment succeeded (after opening the STS3s TCP Port on the firewall), but the same crawl test on production gives me an STS2s error message! Isn't STS2s from WSS2.0 / SharePoint 2003 ? Why does a (clean) installation of MOSS2007 give me this STS2s error message? Now, before I also open the Firewall for this STS2s protocol, I'd like to know where this comes from... grtz, Octavie

"This document could not be checked out" error in IE with SP2010 doc library

We created a document library in Sharepoint 2010 and configured it to require checkout. Via Internet Explorer, users click on a document in the library and choose "Check Out and Edit". They get the error message "This document could not be checked out. You may not have permission to check out the document or it is already checked out or locked for editing by another user". We confirm that the document is not checked out to anyone else. The user is able to open the document Read Only from IE and then check it out in the application (for example, they can click the Check Out button in Word 2007 successfully), so the problem seems to be IE related. We have tried adding the Sharepoint site in the Trusted Sites and Local Intranet zones in IE, but it doesn't make a difference.Any suggestions? Thanks.

Crawling fails with 404 error message, but the IIS log tell a different story

In our clean SP2010 install, crawling stops immediately, just logging a single error message:   The object was not found. ( Error from SharePoint site: HttpStatusCode NotFound The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found. )   Looking at the IIS log does, surprisingly, not  confirm this. Here are all the log entries related to crawling:   #Fields: date time s-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip cs(User-Agent) sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status time-taken 2010-09-01 15:20:42 127.0.0.1 GET / - 80 - 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+4.01;+Windows+NT;+MS+Search+6.0+Robot) 401 1 2148074254 15 2010-09-01 15:20:42 127.0.0.1 GET / - 80 0#.w|global\cre-nhk 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+4.01;+Windows+NT;+MS+Search+6.0+Robot) 200 0 0 46 2010-09-01 15:20:42 127.0.0.1 GET /Pages/Forside.aspx - 80 0#.w|global\cre-nhk 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+4.01;+Windows+NT;+MS+Search+6.0+Robot) 200 0 995 937 2010-09-01 15:20:43 127.0.0.1 GET /_vti_bin/sitedata.asmx - 80 - 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+4.01;+Windows+NT;+MS+Search+6.0+Robot) 401 1 2148074254 0 2010-09-01 15:20:43 127.0.0.1 GET /_vti_bin/sitedata.asmx - 80 0#.w|global\cre-nhk 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(comp

On a clean SP2010 install I created a Document Center site.On the main site page under the "Upload Document" web part there's another web part, which displays this error: Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe. [UnsafeControlException: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. Or is my installation somehow corrupted? And what is this web part and how can I register it as safe?

Search Server 2010 Express Error when crawling LOB Data with BCS Error while crawling LOB contents.

Ok so search server is crawling our BCS external data source which has some columns that allow null. When it hits a null in one of these columns it dies out with: Error while crawling LOB contents. ( '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 94, position 11. ) This is in the crawl log Is the a Fix / Update / Work around for this (other than modifying the table, taking off allow nulls and using a "blank" default value)

BDC model in Search Server 2010 indexing error - Error while crawling LOB contents. ( Not a valid Wi

I have created a .NET connector assembly that pulls data from an in-house .asmx web service.  I have successfully created an external list in a search center site that displays this data without problem.   However, I've run into an error and a warning when indexing this list in search server 2010 for which I cannot find much information.  I've configure a content source with LOB data as the content source type and select my external data source from the list. After running a full crawl, I receive this error: Error while crawling LOB contents. ( Not a valid Win32 FileTime. ) And this warning: The content for this address was excluded by the crawler because this item was marked with a no-index meta-tag. To index this item, remove the meta-tag and recrawl. My .NET connector assembly looks like this:   public static WeatherEntity ReadItem(string id) { foreach (WeatherEntity entity in GetAllEntities()) { if (entity.LocationAbbreviation == id) { return entity; } } return null; } public static IEnumerable<WeatherEntity> ReadList() { return GetAllEntities().ToArray(); } public static List<WeatherEntity> GetAllEntities() { List<WeatherEntity> weatherEntities = new List<WeatherEntity>(); WeatherService.WeatherWS service = new WeatherService.WeatherWS(); WeatherService.DsWeatherDa

Profile EMM fields error when using Mysites cross farm (SP2010 RTM)

Hi,

I have a question that took me a while already. I set up an evironment at a Customer of mine as following:

2 farms:

Farm 1 (publishing farm (PF)):
Service applications (User profile and metadata services)

Farm 2 (consuming farm (CF)):
Webapplications (my.portal.nl webapplication).

I published all the services on the PF and succesfully made a connection to the service throughout the CF. The mysite host location is created under the my.portal.nl webapp.

Everything seems to work perfect. The only thing that doesn't work is the following: When I open the my site host and want to edit my profile properties all the fields that need keywords or metadata are not reachable. When I put the my site host location on the publishing farm --> IT WORKS....

I get the red error beneath every EMM field that says: "the service is temporarily disabled...."

I believe I missed a configuration step somewhere in de connection part between the webapp and the service app when going cross farm????

I think problem is somewhere in the combination of Cross farm, Managed Metadata and User profile service....

Can anybody help me with this problem??

Thanks in advance!

Greetz,

Roy.

SP2010 Configuration Error: MicroSoft.SharePoint.SPException Language Not Supported

I am facing "MicroSoft.SharePoint.SPException: Language not supported" error while configuring through SP Products configuration wizard. The solution suggested to this issue in different forums is to add 1033 entry in the registry. For me it already exists. Even then, it generated the error. Any suggestions?

SP2010 Upgrade Error: Missing Reusable Content Types

During the in-place upgrade from MOSS2007 to SharePoint 2010, I experienced the following issue for numerous site collections.  Even though these were errors, the configuration wizard completed with Errors stating that there were some sites not fully upgraded.

I cannot determine how to resolve this error and complete the content database upgrade.   Thanks in advance.

In the Upgrade-YYYYMMDD-######-##-error.log file, the following details were logged for about 15 different site collections:

Just installed SP2010 RTM. Now receiving "The Security Token Service is not available" error.

I have spent the better part of today researching this error and have not been able to resolve it. I made sure the "SharePoint Web Services" application pool was started. I have also rebooted the server. There was a lot of mention about a HotFix, but it was already installed. Anyone have any other ideas?

Here is the error:

The SharePoint Health Analyzer detected a condition requiring your attention. The Security Token Service is not available.

The Security Token Service is not issuing tokens. The service could be malfunctioning or in a bad state.

Administrator should try to restart the Security Token Service on the boxes where it is not issuing tokens. If problem persists, further troubleshooting may be available in the KB article. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=160531".
