Using Tables on Team Site pages

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
The users at my company want a specific looking table on their page. I set up different depts with different child sites. On each child site I was able to create it using a table. But they want to combine of all the depts' tables on the main site. Is it possible to do something like this? The reason I need to use a table is becuase it allows me to change the background color of each cell. This is mandatory for them. I couldnt figure out any other way of accomplishing this. Thanks, Ninel

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Hi all, and thanks a lot for the replies since now. I have a new question :

I prepared a simple instant messaging system for my web site and i would like to learn which visitor (registered member) is at which page of my site.

For example :

Uid:10000, Username:donald, NameSurname:Donald DUCK is a registered and signed in visitor.

I need the code which tells me that visitor is at which page (ie. images.aspx?imageid=143223)

Sorry for my poor english, and let me know if i should explain more clearly :)

Master Pages: Master Your Site Design with Visual Inheritance and Page Templates

Master pages in ASP.NET 2.0 solve a problem many Web developers have been solving on their own with a variety of techniques for years - providing a single master template for an entire site. This article covers the details of master pages, discussing their usage and implementation and how they are a natural evolution of custom techniques developers are using today.

Why do the aks master pages not get applied if the feature is not activated on the top site collecti

I installed AKS 2.0 and activated AKS feature. The problem I found was the aks master pages do not get applied if the feature is not activated on the top site collection. why is so?

example: If i activate the feature on http://<servername>/sites/<sitename> and apply the master page, I dont see any changes.

But if i activate the same aks feature on http://<servername/ then everything started working on all sites.

The reason i found is the CSS reference in the aks master pages.

It reference should be given as follows:

                 for http://<servername>/sites/<sitename> ->  <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../Style%20Library/AKS/Aks_Band_Blueband.css"/>

                 for http://<servername>/ -><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/Style%20Library/AKS/Aks_Band_Blueband.css"/>

So my question is, am i missing anything? am i supposed to activate the AKS feature on top level site collection at any cost? if yes, why is so?

And after applying aks master pages, i see differnece in font sizes. Why the font size is getting changed?

Sharepoint 2007 - Wiki site - New Pages Not Inheriting Custom Master Page

I am working on a SP site (MOSS not WSS) which is heavily customised away from the OOTB layout. I need to create a Wiki site, which was going well - I've created a master page which displays the miniconsole (this was not visible with our customised layout), and made it the default master page for the site. This has been applied to the two standard pages that come with the Wiki site, however when a new page is created, it seems to inherit the default.master, rather than my custom master page - thus not showing the miniconsole.

When I have created a new page, I am able to use SharePoint Designer to attach my custom master page to it, which works perfectly, however this will not be a viable option going forward as end-users create their new wiki pages.

How can I get the new pages to inherit my master page when they are created?

Programmatically Hide Master Pages from Site Master Page Settings page?

I know there is a field you can check when you edit the properties of a Master Page in the Master Page Gallery to set a Master Page to hidden but ... can anyone think of a way to programmatically hide specific Master Pages from the Site Master Page Settings page?

Maybe this should be two questions:

  1. How do I programmatically access a Master Page in a Master Page Gallery?
  2. Is there a property that can be set that will hide the page from the Site Master Page Settings page?

Site Pages don't show up in mobile mode

In Site actions, I get the regular URL and the Mobile URL - - I've created several aspx pages with aspx controls on them. Two pages have dropdownlists, textboxes and gridviews. One just has a regular HTML table with aspx buttons, with postbackurls. Any list I create shows just fine, but none of the content in my aspx pages show up in mobile mode. I can get a list of the page names (with the extensions) when I click on 'view All Pages', however, when I click on the links, the content in the page does not show. What are we supposed to do for pages like these, for mobile mode?

Adding a custom control to the SharePoint 2010 Team Site Wiki Page Template ( wkpstd.aspx ) programm

Topic This is maybe my last post about the Team Site Wiki Page customization with the aim of exceeding its limitations. This time we are going to customize the unique template ( wkpstd.aspx) by replacing the control that renders the editable content by a custom one. In this post example, we will take advantage of the use of this custom control to render not editable additional contents, for instance, a header and a footer that could be the same for a specific Wiki Page Library. Of course, we are not going to really customize the template, but we are going to use a delegate control to replace the control at runtime. Here are the screen shots of the result: We can see a non editable Header and Footer on the Team Site Wiki Page In edit mode these additional contents are not rendered, but we can add new content as usual And of course, after having saved the page, the new content is rendered wtih the non editable Header and Footer. Steps required   If you look at the Team Site Wiki Page template, wkpstd.aspx, you can see the control that is rendering the editable content/ <SharePoint:EmbeddedFormField ID="WikiField" FieldName="WikiField" ControlMode="Display" runat="server" /> We are first going to create a custom EmbeddedFormField control Then, we are going to use a delegate control to replace the native EmbeddedFor

XSLT customizations to done to XSLTListViewWebpart on site homepage and other pages are not saved

I am having a strange issue while applying simple XSLT customization to XSLTListViewWebpart SharePoint Server 2010 Beta All customizations are lost and not saved at al, here are the steps i am following to save my xslt customizations. Checkout the file --> right click Edit file in Advanced mode --> navigate to the XSLTListViewWebpart in context --> Customize Entire View/Item(tried both neither worked!) -->Add a simple span to show my tooltip on the anchor tag(where the folder name/item name is rendered) -->now i save the file and check in --> preview in browser --> changes dont show up --> so i close the page in SPD edit adn again click on edit in Advanced mode --> all my customiations are gone. Has anyone seen this ? is it because of some uninstalled required SP2010 updates?

WSS 3.0 - Master Pages - Changes not effective across site

Hi, I am relatively new to sharepoint and I have inherited a new intranet which I want to develop further. The first thing I notice is that some of the sites (i.e. the IT page) uses one master page (last updated in August) and the other pages use a master default which is different (last updated in December 2009). I want to be able to copy the August version and make it effective across all sites. I am not sure how to achieve this. I have tried making changes to the December 2009 file to see the changes take effect (i.e. change a background from red to blue) and it did not take effect across the site. This is probably basic stuff and I have purchased the Microsoft books to help, but I am at a bit of a loss on this one. Can anyone give me some simple directions on how I can make all the sites within our intranet refer to the same master default page? Thanks in advance

Calendar overlay only works on list calendar in team site?

Currently, I have a site collection with a top-level site and 7 sub-sites (all on an equal level just below the top-level site). I have created a calendar at each site.  On the top-level site, I've used calendar overlay to add the 7 sub-site calendars to its calendar.  It works just great! But if I try and edit the main page of the top-level site to add that calendar as a list item on the page, or as a web part (rather than having the user have to click on the Calendar under the Lists in the Navigation) - the overlay doesn't show up on the calendar. Why won't it work when I edit the home page and try and add it a web part or as an "existing list"? I get no errors regarding this - it just doesn't work!  Frustrating!!! Thanks in advance!

Sharepoint 2010: Get error: You do not have permissions to have lists and pages within My Site.

I am using the administrator login for the sharepoint 2010 farm.  I'm able to access My Site.  However, when I click on My content, I'm getting You do not have permissions to have lists and pages within My Site.   Any ideas?   Thanks.

Retract custom master page feature and all site pages stop working

There is a requirement to apply custom branding on personal sites in a SP 2010 project. For this I have created a feature which uploads and applies the custom master page on creation of any new personal sites.   I have stapled this feature (using feature stapling concept) to the “SPSPERS” (personal site) site definition. The custom master page is displayed on the creation of new personal sites. On feature deactivation, I am looping through all the personal sites (as the feature is deployed on a team site) and pointing the master URL back to v4.master. But when I retract the solution and browse to the personal site, I am getting a “404 File not found” error.  But am able to view the settings page by typing the URL.   I activated the publishing features and looked at the master page applied to the personal site. It was pointing to v4.master.   Any help on this is appreciated. Regards, Neha
