Can't modify color theme after cross product upgrade

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Alright, I'm at wit's end.  I upgraded my MSSX 2008 (based on WSS 3.0sp2) to Sharepoint server 2010 via a database attach.  I sorted out all the preupgradecheck stuff and confirmed that the database upgraded status shows up as completed.  Everything seems to work fine except that when I go to Site Theme for any of the site collections that were upgraded, I do not get the option below the themes to customize the colors.  This occurs even if I've commited to the Visual upgrade (v4).  It'll let you choose an existing color theme but there's nothing below that area.  It also occurs if I create a new sub site of an upgraded site collection.  But if I create a brand new top level site collection, then I get the color customization options below the theme list.  I've confirmed in powershell that the sites in question show the UIVersion as 4 and the change flag is set to false which is normal.  I also tried forcing the Update() to run on the SPSite object from powershell as well.  I looked at one of the sites with designer 2010 and there are still some v3 files/folders in there.  I also tried the Reset to Site Definition but to no avail. So what I'm trying to figure out is this color customization problem a bug, known issue, or a sign that my upgrade is incomplete?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Health Analyzer reports "Product / patch installation or server upgrade required." and I can't seem

The text of the error is: On server SHAREPOINTSERVER, once all required products and/or patches are installed, perform an upgrade by either running PSConfigUI.exe or by executing the command "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures". If a former upgrade attempt has failed, you may need to resolve upgrade specific issues before attempting upgrade again. Refer to the upgrade status page (http://sharepointserver:XXXX/_admin/UpgradeStatus.aspx) for information about current and prior upgrade attempts, and to determine issues that may be preventing upgrade from succeeding. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142700". So I went to the server in question and ran the command line quoted in the error message and then I get this error back: Configuration of SharePoint Products failed. Configuration must be performed before you use SharePoint Products. For further details, see the diagnostic log located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\1 4\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_....log and the application event log. Changing Background Color/Theme between different pages

So I made this thread sometime last year and never really did anything with it. I have a field in my database called 'Color' that is a varchar(25) value. In this table I can put Orange or #FF5B5B for example. Is there a way within my code I can grab the 'Color' field from the database to be displayed using a system.drawing.color? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! I know these below options show the actual colors in a textbox but I am looking to grab a field in the database.  TextBoxColor.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.Orange; TextBoxColor.BackColor = System.Drawing.ColorTranslator.FromHtml("#FF5B5B");

Unable to modify cell color in DataGridView (C#)

I have a Datagridview object contained in a TabPage and which gets its data from a DataTable.

I'd like to modify the background color of some cells under some asumptions. But I only see the value change in my cell, not the color change. If I go into the datagridview object, I can see the color has been modified, it just doesn't appear on the screen. I have tried to invalidate everything.

 for (int i =0; i<dgViewObject.Rows.Count; i++)
  if( (string) dgViewObject.Rows[i].Cells[2].Value == "SELL")
 {  dgViewObject.Rows[i].Cells[2].Value = "SELL TEST";
   dgViewObject.Rows[i].Cells[2].Style.BackColor = Color.Red;
 }   }

Download and Share Visual Studio Color Schemes

The good news is that Visual Studio allows you to completely customize the editor background and text colors to whatever you want - allowing you to tweak them to create the experience that is "just right" for your eyes and personality. You can then optionally export/import your color scheme preferences to an XML file via the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

Ajax Tab: Each TabPanel with different Color

I have situation like, Each tab panel should display with different colors based on the status. Example:

Completed tabs should display in "Green"

Inprogress status tabs should display in "Red"

Not eligible status tabs should display in "Gray".

Ajax Tab look and feel is very good. So, thought of using the Ajax Tab for my above requirement. I tried to change it. But I am not able to change the color of the each tab.

Is it possible to change the color of each tab in Ajax Tab control? Pleas help me.

If not possible, please suggest any other tab controls to achieve above my requirement.

Note:I already tried with IE tab controls, since it provides me that flexibility to change the color of the each tab. But, It is crashing my browswer. I am not sure about the reason.

I tried Jquery option, since I need to change the tab status dynamically based on the selection made in that same page, I am not able to achieve this one in the JQuery.

How to modify the login control

I'd like to record more information than the default control allows as well as perform actions with the input when the form is submitted but I'm having trouble figuring out how.

So firstly, if I want to record the middlename for example, how would I do that, and by default, where would it go if anywhere?
When the form is submitted, I'd like to take specific input, such as just the middlename for example, and write some linq to sql code to specify when and how it's stored.
In what event would I put this code?

How do I preserve __viewstate between cross domain posts or how do I get a __viewstate of a Remote S

Here is what I want to do:
I have a local site in which I want to display data from a remote site
Lets say: I want to display data of http://www.abc.com/Default.aspx on my localhost

Now Default.aspx requires some post-data which it sends to itself. Thus the __viewstate and __eventvalidation are posted back to it by itself. I want to directly post the data to Default.aspx from localhost without opening Default.aspx and display the Default.aspx's response on my localhost.

The WebApp on http://www.abc.com is configured for __eventvalidation i.e. I cannot post-data to it from my localhost without getting a __viewstate from it. I also have to post the current __viewstate of http://www.abc.com/Default.aspx to itself

How can I accomplish it?

Best Way to Upgrade Using Web Setup Project

Hi there,

I am using VS2005.

I don't have much experience with web setup projects, but I now need to create a decent windows installer in order to allow customers to install one of our web applications. I have created a simple web setup project and it works fine, but not when it comes to upgrades of the application.

If for instance I install version 1.0 on a machine, and then later I try to install version 2.0, I don't seem to have the control that I would like... I can specify in the web setup project that the installer must enforce an uninstall of previous version, but then all application files and logs are uninstalled as well. If I let the application just install itself over the older version, it seems to leave some old DLL's there - it then causes issues in the application because DLL version conflicts.

My basic requirement is that I would like th installer to upgrade the old version with all the files required, but leave any application and log files in tact - this way the customer won't have to reconfigure the application after install.

What is the best way to handle this?
