I tried configuring my SharePoint Foundation 2010-based web application to do BlobCaching, but the cache folder is empty.
I backed up and updated C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80\web.config.
In sectionGroup "SharePoint", I added:
<section name="BlobCache" type="System.Configuration.SingleTagSectionHandler, System, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />
Between the </MergedActions> and </SharePoint> tags I added:
<BlobCache location="C:\blobCache\14" path="\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|jpe|jfif|bmp|dib|tif|tiff|ico|png|wdp|hdp|css|js|asf|avi|flv|m4v|mov|mp3|mp4|mpeg|mpg|rm|rmvb|wma|wmv)$" maxSize="20" enabled="true"
I gave the domain account that runs sharepoint (CORPDOMAIN\APPPORTAL) full control over folders C:\blobCache and C:\blobCache\14.
The application pool automatically recycled when I updated web.config, but I also did an "IISRESET /NOFORCE" and later rebooted the server.
No matter which site pages I visit, the cache folder stays empty.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
