List exported to Excel 2003

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
We are currently in the process of moving our Sharepoint 2007 server from one farm to another and the URL is going to change.  We have a lot of users who edit and update their data using Excel 2003 ( Using the Export to Spreadsheet option ).   Some of these spreadsheets have multiple tabs  and VBA code  for processing the data and generating reports.  There is no menu option that lets us edit the query to make the change to the URL. Is there any easy way to replace the URLs of these queries to point to the new URL? Vijay

Formula showing in OSSR Excel spreadsheet exported from SharePoint list

I exported a list of SharePoint issues into an Excel workbook (2010).  The workbook seemed to work normally as I added new columns and  formulae until just now.  Now when I add a variance calc formula in a cell I see only the formula.  The formula is in a format like "=([@[Prior Est]]-[@[Actual (3/27)]])" instead of "=(G2-F2)" and nothing I do seems to get it to show the actual value.

Is there some sort of bug in the SharePoint excel exports after so many columns are added, or what?

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

In SharePoint applications, Custom Lists are used to store business data and Document Libraries to store the documents. But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Exporting MOSS 2007 List to Excel 2007

When doing the export, the columns "Item Type" and "Path" are automatically displayed in the sheet.  Is there anyway to suppress these fields from exporting automatically?  I'm sure this has already been asked before, but I couldn't find anything after much searching (perhaps I'm using the wrong keywords).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exporting SharePoint list to excel.

Hi All,   We have a SharePoint list in which one column is "Person or Group" and it can take multiple values. When we export it to spread sheet this column contains some junk data.We are using MOSS 2007 and Office 2007. Previously asked question on the same issue http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/00cc338d-8201-4b8d-b2ea-5979ee58a464 Does any one know of a Microsoft published article for this issue as we need to provide it to our higher ups for this issue.   Thanks.

Document Library "export to spreadsheet" doesn't export all columns in Excel 2003

Hi, we are working with MOSS 2007, Infopath Forms Services, KPIs and Excel 2003. There is a view for some data of the Infopath forms which has to be exported to Excel by our users, but some columns are not exported - without any error message. If I try to export it to Excel 2007 everything is exported as expected, but our users have to use Excel 2003. Any idea?

Excel 2003 pivot table - parent showing grand total than the sum of its children

All, In Excel 2003, I have a product hierarchy, for simplistic sake lets say it goes A > B > C > model nbr.  I have filtered on model nbr 1.  I have the product hierarchy in my pivot table and unit cnt as the measure. Starting at level A in the hierarchy I am showing a total unit of 12000, if I drill down to B it still shows 12000, if I drill down to C it shows 100 and if I drill down to model nbr it shows me model nbr 1 with a unit cnt of 100. So my question is why are my parents not filtering the model nbr, it is taking the total for ALL records that have level A as their parent regardless of the model nbr? This does NOT happen in Excel 2007 or when I browse my cube in SSAS.

Why data F+20-20% become F20% When Exported To Excel

Hi,My data F+20-20% in Gridview when exported to Excel become F20%.I find no way unless to have " ' " at the begining and ending of it that is  'F+20-20%'  in order for it to be exported correctly.I have try to make the excel file column to be TEXT  format and the coding is as below but fail.The  exported result to excel is F20%Dim strStyle As String = "<style>.text { mso-number-format:\@; } </style>" For intTemp As Integer = 1 To ldstCompareResult.Tables(0).Rows.Count - 1 dgdResult.Items(intTemp).Cells(0).Attributes.Add("class", "text") Next lsFileName = txtModel.Text.Trim & "-" & txtRev.Text.Trim & "_" & _ txtModelTo.Text.Trim & "-" & txtRevTo.Text.Trim & ".xls" Response.ClearContent() Response.Charset = "" Response.Buffer = True Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=" & lsFileName) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Dim style As String style = "<style> .text { mso-number-format:\@; } </style> " Response.Write(style) I have try to solve it by using sql but fail. The  exported result to excel is F20% select ' '+

Cannot List SSAS Catalogs in Excel 2007

I am trying to access SSAS 2005 through excel on a client computer.  I get the following error message:  The data connection wizard cannot obtain a list of databases from the specified source.  It looks like I connect, but I cannot list any of the catalogs.  Both catalogs are migrated from a sql2000 database.    I ensured that the account has a browsable role through the roles in SSAS.  Interestingly if I create a UDL file with a connection to ssas and choose existing connections and specifiy the udl file I can access the specific ssas catalog.  In creating the udl file I cannot see the catalogs, but I can type in the catalog name which connects me and allows me to browse the cube using excel.  Unfortunatley, my users use other applications besides excel which don't allow access through udls.  Any help would be appreciated.

MOSS 2007 and Word/Excel 2003

Hi, I am working with MOSS 2007 and building a context webpart which contains links to various places. One of the the links is trying to go to a Bookmark in a Word 2003 document. Upon attempting this it only goes to the top of the document and not to the expected bookmark location. I then tried to define a named range in an Excel 2003 file and had Sharepoint point to the named range. The same behavior occurred, it simply went to the top of the document. Here is a code snippet which points to the excel name range called Base: <A href="http://tserver4/sites/HALBI/GON/Shared%20Documents/Parts.xls#Base"> Does anyone know of any issues with this scenario? Thanks, Larry

How to change connection string of a pivot table pointing to SSAS 2005 cube using excel 2003?

Hi All,I am not sure if I should have posted this query to Excel 2003 forum. But posting it here as it applies to SSAS 2005 as well.Ok, let me give the background before I tell the actual problem. We have users on ABC domain and the SSAS server is also on ABC domain. Users on this domain can acess the excel pivots by connecting to cube to browse the data. They leave the Userid & password field blank while they setup the connection string and it works fine. Thanks to windows authentication that takes the credentials of user logged in. Let's say I have two users A and B, they login to ABC domain with their own windows ids.  Now when user A creates a excel file having a cube pivot and then sends this file to user B, user B can refresh and modify the same excel file (he can select new measures to pivot, new hierarchies in filters and so on). Now, let's say I have another user, user C. He has excel 2003 installed on his PC and cannot migrate to excel 2007. He is on different domain XYZ but have a valid windows userid on domain ABC. The domain ABC & XYZ can not be setup to have trusted relationship. Now, when user A sends the same excel file to user C. When user C opens the file and try to refresh it or try to modify the pivot by selecting/deselecting any elements, he gets below error prompt:" An error was encountered in the transport layer." and "Errors in the

Launching a stored procedure with parameter from Excel 2003

I have a stored procedure in SQL Server which needs a parameter and returns a resultset.   sp_xxx 'parameterValue'   I'd like to know if it is possible to launch this stored procedure through Excel 2003 and get the resultset in the active spreadsheet.   I have tried to do this with Microsoft Query but it doesn't allow parameters in queries that can't be graphically represented.   I have tried also through an ODC files but I get an error.   Is it possible to do this?

Excel External Table Data can only create new SharePoint List when Exporting from Excel?

I have a SQL Query that I refresh everyday in Excel. I want to be able to export this list over to a SharePoint list right after my refresh in Excel but I can only Export to a SharePoint list only once. If I try to export again to the same list then it will give me the error "The specified list name is already in use on this server. You must rename the list before publishing it to the server." I have web parts that have connections to this list and I do not want to export my Query to a new SharePoint list everyday. Does anyone know a way around this issue?

Pulling data from an Excel Speadsheet to a Sharepoint List

I have an Excel Spreadsheet filled with company phone numbers which I would like to pull into a Sharepoint List. I am unsure of how to go about this, as my only experience so far is using SQL statements for an Access Database to pull information from one location to another. I would also like this list to be searchable and sortable if possible. As another option, I have looked at Datasheet views in Sharepoint and it is possible that the data could be re-entered in here (will take a very long time though) but I unfortunetly also don't know how to export the data into a printable document from here. Any help with either option would be very much appreciated as I am quite new to Sharepoint! Thank you very much
