Get user info in infopath using data connection

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
hi,  i want to use the absence request template form and connect the employee section and manager section to an existing database. what i want to create now in this template is this (i'm going to explain my scenario): - when the user open the infopath absence request form and insert his name, id number etc (employee section), the approver's name and mail addres (manager section) filled automatically. the approver name must be corresponding to the user name. in the existing database there is a table with the approvers name filled for each user, but from there i dont know how to apllicate this table to use for the auto fill. and after the form is ready can i publish it to my wss 3 site collection? is there a tutorial that explain a scenario like this? thnx

Infopath bug in windows 7 to convert datasource to data connection library in sharepoint?

Any ideas about this bug: Windows 7, infopath 2007, did not check in the data connection file when converting a data source? Also it did not set title and kept the file checked out so that you can not even update the items by SharePoint UI. I did everything successfully with Infopath 2007 on a windows xp machine. Is the OS related in this case? Thanks,

InfoPath crashes after trying to add data connection

Hi All,

I have created a view in my database which selects and ID and Name columns from a table. When I try to add a data connection in infopath linked to this view Infopath crashes. The following is information from the event log:

"Faulting application infopath.exe, version 12.0.4518.1014, stamp 45428209, faulting module ipdesign.dll, version 12.0.4518.1014, stamp 4542826f, debug? 0, fault address 0x003786fa.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

I have created other views that read from other tables and these one do nothave a problem....Any suggestions are very much appreaciated.

Infopath connection to User Profile Service

I have been following the examples on how to create a data connection to the MOSS User Profile Service and have run into a snag.  Specifically, I am trying to have the Infopath form pre-populate the name of the user who is currently logged in.The two good references I have found are:

I have tried both methids and run into the same problem. When I preview the form, I get nothing.  I ran a sniffer and here is what I get:

HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized..Content-Length: 1656..Content-Type: text/html..Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0..WWW-Authenticate: Nego

Why separate account data and user info?

If I'm correct the membership functionality separates account and user (profile) data in two tables. Why not one table? What's the design priciple behind this?

InfoPath Forms Services has detected a mismatch between the user's data in the browser and on the s

Hi All,

I am getting following error message in my SharePoint Logs,

InfoPath Forms Services has detected a mismatch between the user's data in the browser and on the server. This may indicate the SESSION_STATE_PASCAL_CASED is not configured properly on a multiple front end farm or that a malicious user is trying to tamper with client data.

Any idea how to solve this issue ?

Infopath form updating from secondary data connection initally, then not!

Let me set up what I am doing...

I have a table with multiple text boxes. Each of these text boxes pulls a total for it's corresponding item from a SharePoint List. Each item has 3 boxes that return three different totals.(Filters correctly into This week, This month, and Year to date).

When I open the InfoPath form initially all the columns return the correct totals. Now If I edit the date created on an item; so that it was created last month. Nothing changes on my infopath form. The created this month total remains the same.

I have my data connection set to update everytime a form is opened.

What am i missing?

Testing InfoPath Forms with Rules using GetCommonMemberships Data Connection

I have my first InfoPath form coming up for testing. This uses a GetCommonMemberships data connection as a condition for various rules (for example, form load rules that switch views when the user is a member of a Packaging AD group). I’m not a member of any of the AD groups being used for these conditions and neither are the company’s QAs.

Because I’m not a member of any of the groups, I tend to set my rule up in reverse to check it. For example, if I have a rule where the DisplayName is equal to “domain\Packaging” (of which I am not a member), the control is not disabled for me. This assumes that the opposite is also true if I change the rule to is not equal to “domain\Packaging”. In other words, the control should not be disabled for members of that group but it should be for me.

How do you guys allow your QAs to impersonate different team members to properly test this without compromising the integrity of the form?

Cannot create a connection to data source ... Login failed for user: BUT not for all reports!

SQL Server 2008 using Report Builder v2.0  (Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 10.0.2531.0)

We have several reporting service apps with many reports in each one. There is a set of 4 reports that all report on similar info (but grouped differently) that can be run by me and other network administrators but not any "regular" users. On these reports only, they are getting "Cannot create a connection to data source ... Login failed for user...". As I've said there are other reports that regular users can run just fine!? ALL reports use the same Shared Connection Data Source on the server that is set up as Windows Integrated Security. The Data Source's Security allows Domain Users to browse.

I've uploaded a test report to SSRS whos SQL is "SELECT 'test' as testField" and that's it: and is connected to this same Data Source and users still get the Login Failed error... even tried creating and using a new Data Source that points to the same SQL Server DB to no avail. Examining the rdl's XML doesn't reveal anything either.

Reporting Server is a different machine than the SQL Server DB holding the data.

The only clue is that working reports were created a year before now.

Building InfoPath forms against Sharepoint 2010 Data Connection Library and Form Services...

Hi Sharepoint Experrts,

I'm trying to develop InfoPath 2010 forms that use External Lists that have been created in Sharepoint Server 2010.  I have problems when testing the forms because access is denied to the external lists.

When I try deploying the forms to the sharepoint site, I cannot upload the form template because it says I have to be a member of the local administrators group.  However, I'm running the administrator account used to install and setup sharepoint on the Windows 7 development machine I'm using.

I also tried loading the InfoPath Data Connections to a data connection library on my Sharepoint site... I can see the files when I login to the site but when I try creating a New form from a Data Connection File, I get an error message "This location does not contain any data connection files with the appropriate settings".  What ARE the appropriate settings?

I'm just really confused about this because I cannot seem to be able to build forms that use data connection files loaded onto a Sharepoint site or central server....

I appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks, KBW

I need to:

1. Check that the relevant data has been added into the database then

2. Email the details of the relevant data when completed.
