wss2.0 update/delete/hide lookup column that does not display any values

Hi All,

I have a document library that contains a Category column that is a lookup field. This is a default column that is a required field when uploading documents to the document library. The Category column is empty and I am unable to amend, hide, make it not required or delete it.

I have gone to Modify settings and columns -> clicked on the Category field to edit, but there is no option to amend the content or delete it. I am only able to amend the Column name and Description.

Since then, I have amended the column name to eg. Category1 and created a new Category field as a lookup and linked it to the correct list.

The problem I am facing now, is that I cannot hide, delete or make the Category1 (old Category) field NOT required. Either I would like to update the original field to display the correct values or alternately hide, delete or make the column not required.

Please help.

How do I insert values into different colunms but same row in a table using stored procedure

Hi everyone, I wish to create a scenario whereby my Stored Procedure will be able to do an Insert values into two colunms but single row of a table. For instance: AS BEGIN INSERT INTO Table1 (Message1, Number1) VALUES(@Message1, @Number1) END When I do the above stored procedure using SQL Express, and Excecute the stored procedure in VS2005 C# using ADO.Net, the table is updated but the values of Message1 and Number1 are inserted into different rows i.e. when value is inserted into Message1, Number1 is '0' and vice-versa. what I really want is for both Message1 and Number1 to be inserted with values at the same row. How do I acheive this please? Many thanks in advance.

Update Database Record using GridView and Stored Procedure

Hi, I am trying to update record via stored procedure, but i got error at very start point. Problem is when i click on Edit link button within the Gridview it produce error. I can populate values from database fine but its produce error when i click on edit link button. Please see the code below. *********** ASP.net GridView Code I am using *****************<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" DataKeyNames="RollID, EmpID" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Width="700px"> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="ApplicationID" Visible="false"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="AppsID" runat="server" Visible="false"><%# Eval("RollID") %>'</asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="ReleaseID" Visible="false"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="rlsID" runat="server" Visible="false"><%# Eval("EmpID") %></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Roll Name"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="rlsVersion" runat="server"><%# Eval("Roll_Name")%></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditI

TableAdapter using existing stored procedure

Maybe somebody could help me... I need it asap...I need to use an ObjectDataSource for my GridView. When I am creating a TableAdapter in the wizard, I am given 3 options: use sql statement, create a new stored procedure (disabled because of a reason unknown to me), and use an existing stored procedure. When I select the last option, on the next screen I have to select the procedure from the list. But the list is empty. This one question: why is it empty? I do have a stored procedure, and I can see it in Data Connections in my Server Explorer.I tried a work around and use a select statement like this: "Call MyProcedure(pMyParam);"The procedure has a select statement in it. When I run my application, I receive the following error:   ERROR [42S22] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.81-community-nt]Unknown column 'BookStem' in 'field list' It happens here on filling DataTable: public virtual BookList.DigitalRightsDataTable GetDigitalRights(string pBookStem) { this.Adapter.SelectCommand = this.CommandCollection[0]; if ((pMyParam== null)) { this.Adapter.SelectCommand.Parameters[0].Value = global::System.DBNull.Value; } else { this.Adapter.SelectCommand.Parameters[0].Value = ((string)(pMyParam)); } BookList.DigitalRightsDataTable dataTable =

How can I replace values in GridView returned from a Stored Procedure

I am working on creating a stored procedure that will output a pivot table.  In the pivot table will be either the string NULL or a number.  How can I reformat this in ASP.NET so the NULL value becomes a blank cell in the gridview and the number (whatever it is) becomes an 'X' ?

SqlDataSource, FormView, and Update with stored procedure in code behind

Hello, Using a FormView with a SqlDataSource, I'm attempting to Update data by calling a stored proc in code behind. I was having trouble getting parameters using Update Parameters in the SqlDataSource, but found a working solution by coding the parameters. The problem now is I'm getting an "Updating is not supported by data source 'XYZ' unless UpdateCommand is specified'. I saw some previous posts on the forums, but didn't find them very enlightening.

stored procedure: select and update

Is it possible to use a stored procedure to get a value of the database, change it and save it back at ones? Let me show a simple example: In the databse I have an integer value (20). Then I get another number (5), and I would like to subtract it of the  value from database (20 - 5). That means I have to get the value 20 out of the database, of it subtract value 5, and insert (update) new value (15) back to the database. Or is it not even necessary to get the value 20 out of the databse, but only directly subtract value 5 of the value in the database? Is this possible to do with stored procedure?

Its posible to do a select without the table and the column names into a stored procedure?

Hello!!

I need your help. Imagine that I have two tables:

  1. ALUMN wich has three columns: IdAlumn, Name and Address.
  2. SPORT wich has columns: IdSport, Name, Players and Description.

Supose that my tables could be differnced by a number 1 is for ALUMN and 2 is for SPORT.

And the columns of each table too. So 1 is for IdAlumn, 2 is for Name and 3 is for Address. 1 is for IdSport, 2 is for Name 3 is for Players and 4 is for Description.

For example the combination of table 2 and column 3 is SPORT-Players.

Then I want to do an stored procedure that receives two parameters (the table, the column) @tab and&

Cannot update existing table with values from staging table

Hello

In my SSIS dataflow I am inserting values into a staging table. When performing the update query in the control flow, to update values from my staging table in the final table, I am having trouble executing my SQL query.

It look like this

UPDATE final set Value = staging.Value
WHERE final.Id = staging.Id
AND final.ValDate = staging.ValDate
AND final.ForDate = staging.ForDate

It gives me an error:

Error: 0x0 at Update: The multi-part identifier "staging.Id" could not be bound.
Error: 0x0 at Update: The multi-part identifier "staging.ValDate" could not be bound.

What is wrong? Any inputs?

What is the best way to get the primary key column name of a table in a stored procedure ?

Hi,

I'm writing a stored procedure which manipulates a table whose name must be given as a parameter. The stored procedure needs the primary key column name (by design the primary key must have only one column), and I thought I could get this from the system table instead of having to provide it as a parameter. So I need to put the primary key column name in a variable.

The best way I found so far is this :

declare @keyname nvarchar(1024)
create
table #keys (table_qualifier nvarchar(255),table_owner nvarchar(255),table_name nvarchar

SQL Stored Procedure - if exists Update else Insert.

Hey,

I'm trying to create a stored procedure that get a Key and Name (both varchar), the procedure will check if a the key allready exists in the table, if it exists it will update the name, if its not exists it will add it to the table..

I have no clue how to use IF to check if the row exists, please help.

Thanks :)

Stored Procedure Column Names - A Suggestion

When a data source calls a stored procedure, you often don't see the column names exposed for mapping in the dataflow designer. There are a number of work-arounds involving SET FMTONLY OFF or setting up a dummy select statement early in the stored procedure, non of which are entirely satisfactory.

Perhaps the SSIS developers could learn something from SSRS here, after the data from a datasource is previewed, the column names are available in the Report Desginer no matter how complex the stored procedure might be.

I would have thought that when you preview the data from the strored procedure in BIDs, that all the required information about the column names and data types returned by the stored procedure could be captured and made available in the data flow designer.

insert and update from a same stored procedure

in sql server 2005

hi i am creating  a stored procedure for a inserting and updating a table as follows

where id is identity.

my intention is when i supply the id value  then it performs update other wise it goes to insert

my table is as

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[TblAccountType](
    [id] [tinyint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
    [AccType] [varchar](20) NOT NULL,
    [Description] [varchar](max)  NULL)

and stored procedure is

create  proc [dbo].[SppInsertAccType]
(@id as tinyint =null,
@AccType as varchar(20),
@Description as varchar(max))
as
begin
set nocount on
set transaction isolation level read uncommitted
begin tran
if exists(select id from TblAccountType where id=@id)
begin
update TblAccountType set AccType=@AccType,Description=@Description where id=@id
end
else
begin
insert into TblAccountType(AccType,Description)values(@AccType,@Description)
end
commit tran
