Stay Alert: Use Managed Code To Generate A Secure Audit Trail

In today's security-conscious environments, a reliable audit trail is a valuable forensic tool The Windows Server 2003 operating system provides features that let you enable a wide range of applications to make use of auditing functionality. Conditional alert box in view

When a view is shown, base on a simple conition in the model (Model.RenewalDate < DateTime.Today), I need to pop up an alert box saying 'Membership renewal is overdue'. There's no process required beyond that. Just a simply popup information box, then continue as normal.

I know the java to create an alert, or I could use the jquery modal, not bothered, but I can't work out the code in the view (yeah, I know logic doesn't belong in a view, but this really is a view concern as there's no functionality required beyond the message).

Sharepoint alert error

Something strange is happening here. I have a list whose itens alerts are not sending, but iclusion or permissions alerts for the same list are ok.

The strange is: I search for a fix, then I restarted the Windons Sharepoint services Timer, reset the alerts by stsadm tool (stsadm -o setproperty). the timer job status is ok too. and I just receive this error for this list, ONLY for this list...the other list I can receive the e-mails normally.

Can someone help me?

Add Issue ID to an email alert?

Dear all,

(running WSS 3.0)

I'm desperately trying to add the Issue ID to the alert email that is sent when a list item is assigned to you. I have looked around and followed many tutorials online, however none of my changes have had any effect. So far I have done:

  1. Copied alerttemplates.xml to customalerttemplates.xml
  2. Edited customalerttemplates.xml
  3. Removed "ID" from <ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields>
  4. Ran stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://server -filename "C:\Program files\common files\Microsoft shared\web server extensions\12\template\XML\customalerttemplates.xml"
  5. Ran iisrest
  6. Restarted Sharepoint Timer service

However even after doing that the email sent when an item is assigned is just the basic default! I've just tried to add the ID to the most simple section of the email (footer) however nothing seems to change the email alert.

I've followed guides such as:

User Alert Management for a specific list versus entire SharePoint site?

It seems that to be able to manage User Alerts, one must have Full Access to the entire SharePoint site - and then use => Site Settings > User Alerts. Ideally, I would like to be able to grant access to users to only be able to manage alerts for a specific list. Is this possible (without having to do any programming) and, if so, how? If such access is only available at the site level, I will simply create a Permission Level that allows one to only "Manage Alerts" Thanks in advance for any assistance. Dave

Custom Alert Filter Definition

I was trying to create custom filter definition. Requirement : Send alert when the body of discussion contains certain words. These words are to be configurable. I just followed the steps in this blog. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sharepointdeveloperdocs/archive/2007/12/07/customizing-alert-notifications-and-alert-templates-in-windows-sharepoint-services-3-0.aspx Created seperate template xml and added the definition like below <Filters> <FilterDefinition> <FriendlyName>Post contains </FriendlyName> <ShortName>words or phrase </ShortName> <Query> <Where> <Contains> <FieldRef Name="Body" /> <Value Type="Note">hi</Value> </Contains> </Where> </Query> </FilterDefinition> </Filters> I'm getting some blank radio buttons in the alert configure page, not sure whether to add the custom entries to resource file, where to make changes in core resource file? The value I'm trying to search is hardcoded now in the CAML, I want some text box for entering the value. Please advise.

Alert popup on Gridview Textbox Click

Hi,I am trying to make a Javascript Alert appear when someone clicks on a textbox that is part of a Gridview. the textbox is an Item template and I have an onclick="NotePopup()" in the TextBox properties. I am having trouble grabbing the correct ID of the text box, because it is nested inside a gridview. I have been looking around on Google for a solution but none of the responses are working for me.  The gridview will have multiple rows, so each textbox that could potentially be clicked will have a different ID, is there any way to pass the correct ID to the Javascript, or have the Javascript function grab the correct ID?I did use var Control = '<%= GridView1.ClientID %>';then cut and paste the ID from ViewSource of a textbox and append it to the Control Variable,  to test out the popup and it does workThanks for your helpChris

SSRS - Message/Alert

Dear Colleagues,   I want to find out, is there a way to prompt a message to user when datediff("ss",Now,ExecutionStartTime) > x number of seconds?   For example, report is having 5 parameters with multiselect property enabled and user had selected all values from all parameters. Report starts processing on clicking ViewReport button and then message has to poped to user asking to reduce the parameter values such that report could process within allowed number of seconds.   Is this possible in SSRS 2008 R2 version or Is there any .config setting for the same?

Immediate alert email body is truncated intermittently in MOSS 2007

Hi All, I  am facing one issue with Alert. We have one Posts list in one of the Blog where Alert Me generates immediate alert for the users who have subscribed to the Blogs. Whenever any new Post added, edited or deleted they used to get alerts. But in the alert email, the body of the alert which normally contains the Post decsription gets truncated intermittently. Sometimes it is truncated with less than 2048 characters in the Body filed and some times with more than 4098 characters. I found in some articles that the limitation is 2048 characters in one line after whcih the new line is expected , else the text will be truncated. I am not able to find the logic behind this truncation in default sharepoint alert functionality. Could you please give some more insights on this front? Thnaks:)

Alert based on date

I have a list of SSL certificates and their expiration dates.  I created a column that calculates the date 45 days before the expiration and then a view that only shows those items where the (expiration - 45) > Today. I then set an alert for any changes to items in that view.  However, I don't get an alert for items that pop into the view...I guess because the item itself did not change.  Is there a way to send an alert based on date?  My SharePoint enviroment is locked down so I can't create custom workflows or connect via Designer.

How does "Alert Me" work with simple web page?

In another post (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/83ec9566-0357-4f40-9388-f364e87c1bd4/)  I've learnt how to make simple web pages in MOSS 2007. Then I want to "subscribe" some users using the "alert me" function but it doesn't seem to work.  Do I miss something or "alert me" doesn't work with simple web pages?

Font on Page Becomes Bold After Javascript Alert -- Why?

In .Net 3.5   I have a web page that has several checkboxes, text boxes, dropdown boxes etc on it.  When a user clicks on the search button, I run some basic validation on the page. If any validation fails, I invoke a javascript alert letting them know what they did wrong and I return them to the page. However, when the page reloads, all of the text on the page is now larger and bold, even the text inside the menu and which resides in a master page.  I removed every instance of the word "bold" from the project but it still becomes bold after the alert fires. Any idea what could be causing this to happen?  It shouldnt matter but here is a sample of the alert I use: Response.Write("<script language='javascript'>alert('You must check at least one column to display');</script>") Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Alert not working when used with image inside gridview

I am currently using following code to set alert on required column of my grid. When I change button type to Image the alert appear after completion action. Any quick suggestion??   My code is below.. protected void grdDelTempList_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { e.Row.Cells[6].Attributes.Add("onClick", "javascript:return confirm('Are You Sure?');"); } }

LS Status Report showing false alert state

I have log shipping every 15 minutes working between 2 servers, and while the secondary server reports everything ok (time since last copy, restore are all under 15 minutes), the primary server reports that the time since last backup is 7400+ minutes.  I have verified that the LS backup job has no failures.  How can I correct this false error state and get the primary server to start reporting actual statuses?   The LS monitor is on the secondary server.
