Error Enrolling Instance In Utility Explorer SQL Server 2008R2

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

When I try enrolling an instance the enrollment errors with "The collection sets on the specified instance of SQL Server must be stopped." I have stopped all the collection sets in various manners including disabling the scheduled job, all with no success. Any suggestions as to what else I can check? I have successfully enrolled another instance on the same server. Thanks!

error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified

Today I installed a named instance on a SQL 2005 Standard X64 SP3 server running on Windows 2008 R2. From a remote server with SQL Server Management Studio I can connect to the default instance, but when I try to connect to the named instance it returns Cannot connect to <server>\<instance> A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while established a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server). Locally I can connect to both instances. Below is the output of portqry.exe. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" from IE7 - ASP.NET Development Server Error?

Dear everybody, I've just installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 on Windows Vista Ultimate. I created "New Web Site" and Started Debugging the page to see the blank page rendered. To my surprise, IE 7.0 displayed an error message saying: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I spent some time investigating and here is the result: The page going to be rendered assumes port 49791: http://localhost:49791/WebSite3/Default.aspx The ASP.NET Development Server operates under different port no: 49793 After changing the url above manually to use the port of ASP.NET Development Server, the webpage gets renderred correctly: http://localhost:49793/WebSite3/Default.aspx ASP.NET Development Server uses dynamic ports. I noticed that Debugging process always assumes port number lower by 2 than the real port number of the ASP.NET DevSer. Therefore Debug process never runs and displays the page. I do not want to manually edit the local host URL after every page rebuild, so my question is following: How to make the "Start Debugging" function to use appropriate port of the ASP.NET Development server? How to make Visual Studio to open the page being debugged? To mention couple of things I tried: I reinstalled Visual Studio2008, tried to disabled IPv6 as some threads recommen

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server

Hi,

I've created a small website with a simple sqlite database using vwd 2010 .net 4. In dev and test envionments everything works fine, however when i promote to my hosting provider i receive the following error:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I've been configuring the connection strings (autogenerated from entity framework and attached db) but unable to get it working on the hosting provider, I'm assuming it's related to permissions but not entirely sure how to resolve - here's the web.config as it stands:

<add name

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.

Well, there are many post about this issues but mine is a bit different that I have this problem on my hosting which I can't configure their MS SQL Server. The only thing I can access is Plesk control panel. I have uploaded my mdf file in httpdocs/App_Data, while I establishing the connection it say..

Object Explorer/Server Explorer Error

I have just installed the released VS2005 as well as the released SQL2005.  When ever I try to browse my SQL Server with either the Object Explorer in MS SQL Server Management Studio or the Server Explorer in VS2005 I get the following error:

Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.OLE.Interop.IServiceProvider'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{6D5140C1-7436-11CE-8034-00AA006009FA}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).

Does any one have possible solutions for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Error when synchronizing a 2008SP1 Database with a 2008R2 database using Microsoft SQL Server Manag

I am trying to synchronize two databases and getting the below error.  I am using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 to sync the two databases.  One of the databases is running Analysis Services 2008SP1 (the source) and the other is running Analysis Services 2008R2 (the destination).  I have tried the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility tool and that did not work.  My thought is that the different versions are causing a conflict.  The surprising thing is that it appears to be working and then fails.  Keep in mind I am using an administrator account.  Can someone please advise?

Thanks,  A.L.

SQL Server 2008r2 Best Practice Analyzer report error

Hi All,

recently I was playing with SQL Server 2008r2 BPA. I have installed Baseline Configuration Analyzer in my workstation and my server has BPA installed.

Now when ever I try to run analysis on my workstation. I always get following errors,

1. User is not a member of Administrators group on remote machine, OR

2. Powershell Remoting is not Enabled on Remote Server

Now I am sure that I am Admin of that server machine and I have enabled the PS Remoting (because when I try to rerun the commands to enable remoting in PS it says it is enabled). Also, I can run BPA on my server if I run it locally (by logging into the server m/c).

If any one has any suggestion, I will really appreciate it.

Thanks,

-Jack

Damn this (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

Well my problem is this error message Message="A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. -can't connect to SqlServer Express 2005 on my network server from my application while ITS RUNNING. What I mean is that when I use Server Explorer Window on VS2008 every thing is fine (I can even insert and modify data from server explorer), in fact, when I use Datatables and I choose to preview data through TableAdapters (Design Time) I get data, and also can run the queries from there directly to the data base, but when I'm debbugin the application I get this error.

-when I run Sql Server Management Studio, its also fine, even though I can't see the Sql instance on the server (or any of my partners machine) when I try to browse them. But if I type the server path (servername\instancename) everything is OK.

-I know the problem is not the connection string 'cause mya partners nd I use the sa
