Deploy VisualWebPart with external reference library

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi to all, I've a problem because I created a webpart and I deployed it in GAC, but I reverenced an external library "Exchange Web Services Managed API 1.1". If I create a standard webapplication, all is ok. But when I use it in Visual web part project, and I deploy it, it don't found this dll in the package. The Sharepoint response, when I try to use a webpart, "File not found". Then I try to attach the process for debug and I found that this assembly "Exchange Web Services Managed API 1.1" is not registred in CAG, it's not found it!!! What can I do include this assembly in the package? And deploy this principal dll (the web part) and this referenced dll?

Add reference to external library

Hi guys,Can anybody point me in the right direction with this...I have a Class Library Project that I'm using in another Web application project. I've noticed that this has just copied the Class Library DLL into the Bin folder of the Web Application, and also that if I make some changes to the Class Library and rebuild the project, I also have to rebuild the Web Application for the changes to take effect there. This kind of defeats the object why I'm creating a Class Library as I'm hoping to put some generic functionality in there that will be available to a number of different web applications.Cheers for any help with this.Mark

Document Library Not Refreshing External Data

I have a Document Library which has a column connected to an external list (BCS).  I have serveral columns that are displaying data from the External List.  When selecting the refresh icon on the column, I get the following message: Refresh successful. 0 item(s) were refreshed. 0 item(s) could not be refreshed. Contact your system Administrator. So after the refresh is completed,  the external data is not refreshed with the latest data in the database.  The only way I can get the data to refresh is by editing the item and the document library.  This seems to force the external data to refresh.  When viewing the external list, the data is refreshing like it should.  What do I need to do to get the external data to refresh in the Document Library? Also is there a way to make the Document Library refresh automatically without hitting the refresh icon.

Custom Web Part deployment with class library reference

Hi All, We have class library as a project in our solution as well as a web part project. Our web part simply references and executes a service utility class in the class library and outputs it into a label. The deployment is successful but when attempting to add the web part to the page, it comes out with a error page saying "File Not Found" with a correlation ID and date/time reference. Once we take out the code that executes the utility class, it deploys fine and we're able to add it to the page without any issues. It seems evident that any reference to our class library causes this "File Not Found" issue... but we're not sure how to implement this solution. Any ideas? Do we add the class library dll directly into the GAC?  If so, how? Is there another reference we have to implement in the AssemblyInfo.cs?  If so, what does that look like? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Eric

WSDL - add reference to policy in one or more external xml files

Error on VS 2008 Class Library project: are you missing an assembly reference?)

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb153523(office.12).aspx Working with ASP.NET 2.0 Web Parts and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Based on the above MSDN Walkthrough, I created a Class Library VS 2008 project. Deploy XBAP application with WCF Service Reference into multiple environments

Hi, we have a multiple environment setup (local, Development servers, QA servers, prod servers, etc.) and we are building an XBAP application that uses WCF Services to connect to databases.  We code and unit test everything locally and then deploy to our Development servers for more thorough unit testing.  The issue that we are having is that we don't see how to update the deployed XBAP application to use the Development server deployed WCF Service.  The only way we've been able to do this is by having to change the reference on my local machine, complie, and redeploy the XBAP.Question:  How do we configure a deployed XBAP's Service Reference to point to the same service on a different server than what it was originally compiled/deployed with?  (Like in some configuration file...NOTE: but we also don't see a config file after deploying the XBAP.)  We don't want to have to update the Service Reference for QA, Prod, Training, Stage, etc. on our local machines, compile and redeploy every time we need to migrate the application to a new environment. Thanks!

Sharepoint Foundation - Create and deploy custom edit/view forms for external lists

Firstly, we are using sharepoint foundation so Infopath forms are not an option for us.

We have a Visual Studio sharepoint project which deploys a complete sharepoint site. The site contains a number of external lists and we want to be able to create customised view/edit forms for these lists and add them to our Visual Studio project so they can be deployed as part of the new site. The idea is that we can deploy the solution to a fresh site with a default set of forms which can then be customised for different implementations of the site.

Here's the steps we have been using to try and do this:

1. Deploy the base project (BDC) to the sharepoint site

2. Create external lists based on the BDC content types

3. Use Sharepoint Designer to create new edit/view forms for the lists and set these as the default forms for the list

3. Save the site as a template

4. Import the template into a new Visual Studio project and select the lists we require. This gives us a List Definition, a pages module (with element file), an elements file and a schema file (both for the List Instance).

5. We then add the contents of the imported project to our main solution as follows:

  • Create a new List Definition (including List Instance)
  • Copy the contents of the imported Elements.xml to the Elements file for our List Instance.

Object reference not set to an instance while deleting picture library Sharepoint

Whenever we try to delete a picture library I receive object reference not set to an instance, with

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.   at Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.ListEditPage.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
   at ASP._layouts_listedit_aspx.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
   at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive()
   at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

Has anyone come across this error? Is there an issue with Sharepoint installation?

Reference .NET 4.0 Library In .NET 2.0 app

Hi guys, is there a way of referencing a .NET 4.0 in a .NET 2.0 app? Whenever I try to compile and build I get an error saying:

Could not load file or assembly 'blahblahblah' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Any ideas? Ive tried adding the Library as a project AND as a .DLL but still no luck. Unfortunately converting the .NET 2.0 to .NET 4.0 is not optional...

External Data Fields in a Word Template saved as a content type in a document library with multiple

I have created a Word Template for a Document Library that has an External Data Column in it of Client Name which also adds Client Address1, Client Address2, Client City, Client State, & Client Zip.  Now this works fine for a Document library with that template as the Template.dotx file.

I want to be able to make a bunch of Templates and have them all as Content Types in one Library.  When I do this I cannot get the External Data Quick Parts to work.

Anyone have any ideas?

External Sharepoint Links Not Inheriting Port Reference

Hi. I can't find any question quite like this so I'll post it. Internally and externally, my Sharepoint site works fine EXCEPT that externally (http://mysite.dyndns.org:44443) not all links inherit the port reference (44443) and thus don't work. As an example, I can get to the "default.aspx" page and I can navigate to a specific item, like an "Announcement" (http://mysite.dyndns.org:44443/Lists/Announcements/.....), but when I select the attachment that is part of the announcement I can see that the URL reference is missing the port reference (http://mysite.dyndns.org/Lists/Announcements/.....) and the link fails. Not sure if this is an AAM issue, IIS or a corrupt Sharepoint config. T
