I was troubleshooting a problem with the Profile Sync Service and discovered some permission problems.
I noticed that my monthly timer job (which is running daily now) for generating new passwords is failing.
Watching ULS while manually running the job returned some curious records.
At the end of the list was an Access is Denied error which I assume – but am not convinced – is the problem.
The w3wp process is running under the farm admin account which is an db_owner of the SP_Config database.
If it needs more perms, please let me know what they are.
There were other strange records returned by the ULS in the Database category.
These are, in order
There was a warning that “A large block of literal text was sent to sql…”
Slow Query Duration: 43.39… Slow Query Stack Trace-Managed:… ConnectionString: ‘Data Source=xxx;Initial Catalog=SP_Config…”
and now for the winner SqlCommand: ‘BEGIN TRAN; EXEC …
The SqlCommand had 78,111 characters (not an exaggeration) and is clearly malformed.
There was a single-quoted string:
