Public URL Port Number appended for WebTaggingDialog.aspx page

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi, I am not sure if this the right place to ask this question, We have a SarePoint site exposed to internet which has a web application at 8081 port. There server is behind a firewall which proxying 80 port network to 8081 port of SharePoint server. All Pages, Content and Images are working perfect but only the pages related to Taxonomy Store has port number appended to url which is not accepted at the firewal for example if the http://abc:8081 is my site the internet url is http://sharepoint.com all this is working but if is open page with WebTaggingControl or List with taxonomy fields the url http://sharepoint.com to going out of the browser as http://sharepoint.com:8081 so the firewall is blocking. Also I am not sure if the firewall can listen at two difference ports 80 and 8081 for a same url If this is not the right forum please redirect me to a forum where I could get help on this Thanks for taking time Deepak

Calling a public method on aspx page from a usercontrol

Hello, I have a problem with calling a method on a aspx page from a usercontrol. The case is:I have 1 main page with 5 usercontrols, when something goes wrong in the code I want to display the error message in a Modalpopup Extender.I can create for each usercontrol a different modalpopup extender but isn't much easier when I make 1 popup in the aspx page. But the problem is: How should I call a method in the aspx page that open the popup? I have search several hours on the internet but can't find anything useful. Thanks,

Why is Sharepiont appending port number to public URL?

I have created an extended web application, so there are two SharePoint applications running on the same server, one on port 80 and the other on port 8081.  Internally everything is fine.

In the extended application I installed the "Help Desk" template.

When I try to access the extended application using the public URL, everything is fine initially, I can browse from site to site, I can browse service requests and other lists, but as soon as I try to access folders that I have created in the "Knowledge Base" SharePoint begins to append port 8081 to the public URL.  For example, let's say that my public URL is www.knowledgebase.com, SharePoint begins to reference www.knowledgebase.com:8081.  Obviously this is not going to work, NAT will not allow it.

I can view documents in the root of the Knowledge Base, and I can upload documents to the root of the Knowledge Base, but as soon as I try to access a sub folder, the URL is wrong because SharePoint is appending the port number and the URL can not be resolved.

I can not find anywhere in the configuration where I have asked SharePoint to do this for me.  What is going on?  This has to be something simple, but I can't seem to track it down, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am not having this trouble in the application running on

Launch CMD File From ASPX Page

My organization uses a CMD file to install updated files for a major enterprise application. Currently, we send out an email to users with a link to the file and instructions to run it, BUT inevitably users don't update their machines until their in field and try to start the app.

We're now liking the idea of using an ASPX page to prompt the users to run the updates and to capture the fact that the updates have been run. I realize that we can't capture the success or failure of the update. But we'd like to capture the user accessed the page.

Is it possible to embed into the markup for the page a link to the file on the local intranet that the users can click on to run the file?

The user accessing the page would capture that they did just that. We'd deal with wether or not the update was actually installed or if it failed later with them directly.

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

Integrating aspx page in classic asp web application

Flash player doesn't send cookies while requesting an aspx page

I'm developing a web-site, that uses SWFUpload for multiple files upload to the server. Page, that uploades files, is accessable only to registered user. Authentication is done via web-forms (authentication mode="Forms" in Web.config). Flash uploades files to special web page - upload.aspx. In IE everything works great, but Flash player in non-IE browser (in Firefox, for example) does not send any cookies to upload.aspx. Because of it no sesion and no authentication information is available in this page.

I can pass all the information, necessary for uploading, in GET-parameters, which upload.aspx recieve. But this is a serious security hole and I don't want to expose session information. I can pass session identifier in GET-request. But the question is the following: how can I restore session information from the session identifier? How can I make HttpContext.Current.User point to currently logged in user in this case?

Any help will be appreciated.

Access Classes in an aspx page that is in folder in asp.net

User Control not accessing the value of the properties send to it from the aspx page.

I have a dynamic accordion on a page. Set its datasource to an object of paged data source. The user control is in the accordions content template. When i was writing code the properties were showing but after giving the values of databases as

<uc:UserControl1  runat="server" Property1='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"columname1")%>' Property2='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"columname2")%>'  ></uc:UserControl1>

but the values shows null, these properties are shown as textboxes text property by user control.

MoreOver when I checked the values of database Items. So i made a textbox instead of usercontrol here as

<asp:TextBox ID="txtTest" runat="server" Text='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"Columname1")%>'></asp:TextBox>

It is showing the correct value. And if i pass the value directly it is also showing correctly like

<uc:UserControl1  runat="server" Property1="XYZ")%>' Property2="ABC")%>'  ></uc:UserControl1>

. where I am wrong

the problem is eval is not passing the value to usercont

Changing aspx page causes session data to be lost...

Strange but true. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Way of showing ID on the DispForm.aspx page without programming?

Is there a way of showing the ID system field on the DispForm.aspx page without programming.
I don't want to use a dataview, as new fields being added in the future won't appear automatically anymore this way on the DispForm.aspx page.

I found somewhere that I could use a calculated field, with as formula =ID (so, in fact just copying the value of the ID field in the calculated field), which is one option.

Are there other options/solutions known?

IIS - sharepoint/default website port number confusion

I have MOSS 2007 installed with IIS V7.

My default web site port is 80. When I created a new web application for my main sharepoint portal I also set it to 80. So obviously now the default web site port shows as stopped in IIS and it won't start.

What are the best practices. Should I change the port number for my portal to something else? I mean is it even a good idea to have sharepoint on port 80? If so, how do I go about changing the port number for my portal site?

any help appreciated.

CSS Problem on ASPX page

I am having a problem with space around a div. The page looks perfect in the VS internal browser, but there is space at the top between the body and the div for the page layout in IE and FireFox. I tried everything I know by setting margins to 0 and padding to 0 for the body, div, form, almost everything and there is still space. The wierd thing is that the space shows the background color when I set the padding for the div#page to 0, and the space is the div#page background color when the padding is set to a value.

I must be missing something. I looked at the page's HTML after it is rendered from the server and it inserts a dive with a hidden control for the viewstate. I thought this might be causing the problem so I set the margin and padding for all divs to 0, but it did nothing.

The code for the simple page and CSS is provided below.

It appears the problem disappears and the page looks as I intended when I use the Compatibility View in IE8.

Thanks for the help in advance,
