Hi, This is regarding sharepoint timer service. the error i am keep getting that it is unavailable.  when creating a new Shared services provider or trying to start a back job (process) from central administration, we keep seeing this error. details around the issue, after successfully installing SQL Server and MOSS on a same machine, we wanted to change the service account for Sharepoint Services. we went ahead and changed the accounts manually on Windows Sharepoint Services, then we started seeing this problem. did anybody have similar issue before? please advise. thanks much in advance.

Is there a way to restart that job?

"Service Unavailable" after installing MOSS 2007

I have just installed MOSS 2007 on a machine with 64-bit Win 2K3. It installs fine but after installation navigating to the Central Administration site yields a "Service Unavailable" message.

I tried searching for reasons for this, but the event viewer has no significant logs, and the relevant services (World Wide Wed Publishing Service, Windows SharePoint Services Administration, and Windows SharePoint Services Timer are all started.

I had previously installed and run MOSS 2007 successfully on this machine, but had to uninstall and reinstall for an unconnected reason. After reinstalling, I am now getting the "Service Unavailable" error.

Can someone give me an idea what to look into to debug this issue? Thanks in advance.

Is a multiple administrative and service accounts a MUST for MOSS 2007/2010?

Want to set up a MOSS 2007 server farm and was reading up on how to do it. One Msft article insist that I need multiple accounts. My sys admin tells me that I can use one account for everything. This account is a domain account and is a member of the domain admin group, it has dbcreator, public, secadmin, serveradmin, sysadmin roles on the db server.

Any thought on the topic?

Thanks,

EJM

Search Service not starting MOSS 2007 after SP2

Hello,

I installed SP2 on my MOSS 2007 Farm last weekend and search is not starting now. When i try to start using

stsadm -o osearch -action start -role IndexQuery -farmcontactemail sharepoint@dynegy.com -farmperformancelevel Maximum -farmserviceaccount <userAccount> -farmservicepassword <Password> -defaultindexlocation D:\Sharepoint_Idx -ssp SharedServicesDynegy

I get the following error.

'start' action failed. Additional information: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed.

Starting the office search service takes me to the error page with the following message.

An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed.

MOSS 2007 Shared service provider failed (SSP) in "Search settings"

I click on "Search settings" in SSP then the following error: "The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress. ".

My SSP work fine last time, but for now it fails in "Search settings". I checked very carefully.

Office Sharepoint Server Service (OSSS) is started, "Index Server Default File Location" in OSSS is D:\MOSS_index.

"Path for index file location" of SSP is D:\MOSS_index with full right permission is ok and shared. But i checked folder D:\MOSS_index and folder   D:\MOSS_index is empty, guid folder in D:\MOSS_index was lost.  I checked "Search Administration" in SSP and found that "Items in index" is 0 and "Crawl status" is error, "Default content access account" is error.

Q: How to print out background color in InfoPath 2007 browser form under MOSS form service?

Hi InfoPath experts,

I am trying to print out a custom InfoPath 2007 browser form using "Print View" function offered by MOSS Form Service. It seems like the all background color formats has been stripped out when printed out. Interestingly, only font colors are remain the same in printed-out.
Is there a way to fix this issue? I know you can change the settings: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/infopath-help/print-background-colors-and-pictures-HP001095710.aspx , but it only applies for InfoPath Client Form, not browser-based Form!

Any help are appreciated!

MOSS 2007 Service Pack 2/WSS 3.0 Service Pack 2

I inherited a SP 2007 small server farm.  I found that MOSS 2007 SP1 is outdated and WSS 3.0 SP1 is also outdated.  I have downloaded both Service Packs.  I have never done an update like this. I need to confirm that I am supposed to run both Service Packs on the SharePoint server.  I also was wondering if anyone knows if any of my settings will change when I run the Service Pack?

I have installed SP before, but I did not have a farm that was so outdated.  I have had to install over 60 Windows/SharePoint updates in the past few days.

MOSS 2007 and MySite in Outlook

Looking to get the My Site feature working in Outlook 2007 when you right click someone's name in an email. I've followed this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968115) and I can add/remove various fields but when it comes to the My Site feature it nevers show a link to the users Sharepoint My Site. It's strange because the URL for people's My Site is in AD. It's not like I even get a error message where the My Site option should be - the field never displays...help!

Unable to open pdf from document library MOSS 2007

When I click on a pdf document uploaded in a document library it comes up with a blank page.

I guess it's trying to open pdf on the browser. I turned off "Display PDF in browser " option in Adobe Preferences, but it doesn't help, same issue.

I tried other browsers too, it's the same issue.

I am able to open all other pdf files local to my machine fine.

I am using IE 8 on my machine (Windows 7) and the Sharepoint server is MOSS 2007.
