Hide Heading in Breadcrumb?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hey all, Is there a way to hide headings in the sharepoint breadcrumb? My users are creating their sites and the way they want the quick launch to display requires them to add a heading and put their links under it. But, then in the breadcrumb it shows the heading and the site name which takes them back to the same place. I get that sharepoint sees a heading as a node, but is there anyway to make it not show up in the breadcrumb? For example, if I have a site called Home, and in the quick launch settings I choose to only show items below home, and I created a heading called home and put my pages under it when you go to one of those pages the breadcrumb looks like Home > Home > Pagename This isn't very desirable. They could name the heading something else, but some people like things the way they like it, you know? I found a couple other posts that were similar but they don't really come close to a solution I can use in my environment.

Hide a node from appearing on menu not on breadcrumb (using SqlSiteMapProvider)

I am using wicked code sqlsitemapprovider and it's VB version. Most of the things are going OK! But when I wanted to hide some of the nodes from appearing on menu while staying shown on sitemappath I cannot figure it out. I tried to change the sqlsitemapprovider code but was unsuccessfull. I have found David Sussman's answer. but it was for a .sitemap file. So how can I manage to do the same with the sql sitemap provider mentioned above.

I added a column named visible to my SiteMap table it's type is bit and then I have done these changes (Sorry for such long code):

Imports System
Imports System.Web
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Collections.Specialized
Imports System.Configuration
Imports System.Web.Configuration
Imports System.Collections.Generic
Imports System.Configuration.Provider
Imports System.Security.Permissions
Imports System.Data.Common
Imports System.Da

is it possible to hide a link in the sitemap, yet still show the breadcrumb on the page?

We have a dynamic sitemap and all nodes in the sitemap display a breadcrumb.

Is it possible to have the breadcrumb still showing, but make the link in the sitemap invisible or non-clickable?

Reason for this is that...
we dont want users to select some pages from the sitemap (becasue they need to conduct a search first to populate a datagrid) and clicking on the link will only take them to an empty page.

I tried just removing the url, or having a blank title, but that didn't work.

perhaps a stylesheet and display none or something..?

Hide a repeater in ASP.NET C# if the DataSource contains no items?

I have an ASP.NET page that uses a repeater nested within another repeater to generate a listing of data. It's to the effect of the following:
In the (C#) code-behind I'm basically using LINQ to pull a listing of information from an XML document and bind that information to the first repeater.

Searching for the answer to this, it seems the method is to determine whether the data for the nested repeater is empty. If it is, then you set the visibility of the repeater to false.

Advanced Basics: Creating A Breadcrumb Control

Hansel and Gretel had the right idea when "they followed the pebbles that glistened there like newly minted coins, showing them the way. " The deeper you get into the forest or into your data, the more likely you are going to need help to find your way back out again.

CLR Profiler: No Code Can Hide from the Profiling API in the .NET Framework 2.0

The common language runtime (CLR) profiling API makes available information about the application domains, assemblies, and classes that are loaded and used in a process, just-in-time (JIT) compiler notifications, memory usage tracking, tracing of events, exception tracking, managed to unmanaged code transitions, and the state of the runtime. And if that weren't enough, you will find a nicely enhanced profiling API in the .NET Framework 2.0. Find out what's coming up in this next version.

Can you hide the "Form Template Conflict" message?

We have 100s of Infopath 2003 forms published on our Sharepoint site (MOSS 2007).  These forms are updated constantly.  The problem we have is that anytime we change the form's design (ex. change wording on the form), the user will get the "Form Template Conflict" message when they click on the form.  This is very confusing to them, and although we've asked them to click on "Replace form", they still get confused.

This message is very confusing to anyone, not just a user.  We would like to suppress this message so that every single time we update a form, they don't have to see this.  I'm not sure why it even saves a copy locally on their machines, anyway.  The fact is that in 100% of all cases, they will need to replace the form on their computer.  Renaming the forms every time we edit them is not an option - there are too many and links would all be broken.

Can anyone tell us how to "hide" or "suppress" this error for our users?  Or design a form on the back-end that won't show this?  Could possibly changing security settings prevent this?  Any suggestions would be appreciated on how to prevent this message from popping every time we update a form.

How to hide 'no actions' on BDC toolbar

On my BDC list web part, I want the pager feature on the toolbar, but not the 'actions' drop down on the toolbar itself, since it never has any actions in it.

Follow up bonus question, why does that 'Actions' option appear there anyway?  It never has any actions that I can find.

Can you actually assign some sort of action there (as opposed to the line items actions in the web part).

wss2.0 update/delete/hide lookup column that does not display any values

Hi All,

I have a document library that contains a Category column that is a lookup field. This is a default column that is a required field when uploading documents to the document library. The Category column is empty and I am unable to amend, hide, make it not required or delete it.

I have gone to Modify settings and columns -> clicked on the Category field to edit, but there is no option to amend the content or delete it. I am only able to amend the Column name and Description.

Since then, I have amended the column name to eg. Category1 and created a new Category field as a lookup and linked it to the correct list.

The problem I am facing now, is that I cannot hide, delete or make the Category1 (old Category) field NOT required. Either I would like to update the original field to display the correct values or alternately hide, delete or make the column not required.

Please help.

How do I conditionally hide 2 LinkButtons in a Grigview?

Hello Forum,

I'm trying to conditionally hide 2 link buttons within a Gridview(gvPosts), ModifyButton and DeleteButton.  I want the two buttons to hide in every row where the currently logged on Username is not the same as the Username in gvPosts' lbEmpID, a LinkButton control in the same row.  Unfortunately the code is hiding the buttons in every row, including the one where lbEmpID.text = Profile.Username.  My code is below, what am I doing wrong?

Thank you

        Dim lbtn As LinkButton
For Each rowItem As GridViewRow In gvPosts.Rows
            lbtn = DirectCast(rowItem.Cells(0).FindControl("lbEmpID"), LinkButton)

            If lbtn.Text <> Profile.UserName Then
                Dim Modify As LinkButton
                Dim Remove As LinkButton

For Each rowItem1 As GridViewRow In gvPosts.Rows

Programmatically Hide Master Pages from Site Master Page Settings page?

I know there is a field you can check when you edit the properties of a Master Page in the Master Page Gallery to set a Master Page to hidden but ... can anyone think of a way to programmatically hide specific Master Pages from the Site Master Page Settings page?

Maybe this should be two questions:

  1. How do I programmatically access a Master Page in a Master Page Gallery?
  2. Is there a property that can be set that will hide the page from the Site Master Page Settings page?
