Custom Event Handler causes "Potentially excessive number of SPRequest objects".

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I am getting the following in our custom event handler on our WSS 3.0 installation.  Potentially excessive number of SPRequest objects (9) currently unreleased on thread 10.  Ensure that this object or its parent (such as an SPWeb or SPSite) is being properly disposed. This object is holding on to a separate native heap. I know this is normally a performance issue due to incorrect coding technique, but I cannot figure out where my leak might be? Here is the code.         private const string _workflowName = "ROUTINGROUTER";         private const string _workflowName2 = "ROUTINGWORKFLOW";         private const string _currStateField = "CurrentState";         private const string _fieldName = "InProcess";         private const string _actionFieldName = "SourceAction";         private const string _triggerFieldValue = "FALSE";         private const string _actionTrigger = "RUN";         private const string _routingListName = "LIPList";         public override void ItemUpdated(SPIte

Creating Event Handler in Code behind

Hi, so I have a control that is created in the code behind and generates fine but I can't figure out how to create an event handler for it.  I've found plenty of examples for it in C sharp, but none of them seem to apply to VB.  What I want to do is essentially this:

myDropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged = "Event to do here"

but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

want to launch modal Popup from created User Event handler

I have a create user wizard on my page and in the event handler (Created User) I get extra information from the user

via textboxes within the aspx etc.

I then do a response.redirect to another page.

What I want to happen is this

When the CreatedUser Event is fired, I  want a Modal Popup to show up with a message Processing your registration.

once the registration code is processed it will close and the users get redirected.

On my ASPX I have the Modal PopUp and a Panel.

In the code behind in the handler I put ModalPop.show()

but this does not work.

thanks for any suggestions

Search Server Gatherer - Custom hierarchical protocol handler ISearchProtocol for MOSS 2010

Search server gatherer calls CloseAccessor() and shutdown() on ISearchProtocol after GetChunk() even if the FILTER_E_END_OF_CHUNKS is not returned. After calling shutdown() it stops calling the createaccessor() with new URL. I want to create a hierarchical indexing but I am not gatherer is not suporting this. The same piece of code is working fine in MOSS 2007, I am facing this issue in MOSS 2010 only. Is there anything changed in MOSS 2010 which is creating this issue?

Deleting items from the index (custom protocol handler)

I created a custom protocol handler. I successfully emit entries into the index. I just can't seem to delete them during an incremental crawl.

I tried:

1. no emitting child item during the enumeration of child entries in a folder
2. returning PRTH_E_OBJ_NOT_FOUND from CreateAccessorEx

doing either 1, 2, or both did nothing. The entries are still there.

what i need to do to delete these entries from the index during an incremental crawl?

InfoPath Workflow Task Form "Loading" event handler only being called after App Pool recycled.

I have a Workflow that is using an InfoPath task form.  In the "FormEvents_Loading" method event handler I have some code that needs to run each time the form is opened.   I recycle the App Pool and open the form the code runs perfectly, but if I close and try to re-open the form the code is not run at all.  I can then recycle the App Pool again and on the next load the code executes just fine.   The code that is supposed to be run is a very simple statement to set a field value, so I don't think it is interfering.

Does anyone know what this might be?

How to write an event to manage permissions on a document while uploading, depending on custom field

I am trying to find a solution to manage permissions on a document, while uploading it into a document library. This event has to be fired if a custom field is populated (it's a check box field).

How to write an event for this, i tried writing ItemAdded event, but this is getting fired as soon as a document is uploaded, before coming to the page, where we populate all the fields and hit check in.

can i capture Check-in event.

Please advise.

Pre_Init event handler problem

Hi all my friends

   I have to masterpages for my home page.

1. The first is for the annonymous users which has the login controls. its name is General_Anonymous.master.

2. The second one is for the logged in users which has a logout button and it hasn't the login controls in it. its name is General_LoggedIn.master.

in my default.aspx page I wrote the following code

protected void Page_PreInit(object sender, EventArgs e)
            if (Session["SupId"] == null && Session["CustomerId"] == null)
                this.MasterPageFile = "~/Masters/General_Anonymous.master";
                this.MasterPageFile = "~/Masters/General_LoggedIn.master";

Custom event does not fire

Hello,I have a base server control class for all my user controls. Inside this class I have the following declaration:#region Event Handling Management public event EventHandler ItemSaved; public event EventHandler ItemCancelled; protected virtual void OnItemSaved(EventArgs e) { if (this.ItemSaved != null) { this.ItemSaved(this, e); } } protected virtual void OnItemCancelled(EventArgs e) { if (this.ItemCancelled != null) { this.ItemCancelled(this, e); } } #endregion Concrete user controls used in the application are used always inside a ModalPopupExtender object and the popup it is always handled with server-side code. This means that there are no controls binded to the OkControlID and CancelControlID properties of the ModalPopupExtender.The responsibility to show the Modal Popup is then given to the aspx that has code like thisin the ASPX file...<gsl:PhoneNumberUC ID="ucPhoneDetail" runat="server" />in code behind...protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { //Bind to the event handler ucPhoneDetail.ItemSaved += new EventHandler(ucPhoneDetail_ItemSaved); ucPhoneDetail.ItemCancelled += new EventHandler(ucPhoneDetail_ItemCancelled); } } protected void btnNewPhone_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Show the Modal Popup this.mpePopupPhone.Show(

Creating a custom drop down field type with SelectedIndexChanged Event

Hi All, I am trying to create a custom drop down field type and I was able to acheive that using the MS link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb861799.aspx. As per the link, once the custom field is created we can override the "Validate" method to write the Validation logic and that works fine for me too. However I am facing a challenge even before going to Validate . Let me explain my actual requirements here. I need to build a custom drop down field and expose the field to the user in "Edit Properties " Page of a document library. Along with this field, I will be having some OOB site columns in the Edit Properties Page (Ex: Title, Subject etc)  . When user selects a value in the drop down, I need to hide/show few OOB site columns based on certain criteria.  I am facing a challenge of how to capture the "SelectedIndexChanged " event for the Custom drop down field in Sharepoint (Can we wire the SelectedIndexChanged event to a custom dropdown field type) ? Is this acheivable in SP 2010 Custom field type ? If so, how can I do it ? Can any of you kindly help me here?   Regards, Yesh

WCF REST and Custom Error Handler

I have a RESTful WCF service, and I am trying to roll a custom behavior that extends the WebHttpBehavior, to provide my service a custom error handler (by implementing IErrorHandler of course). When I debug my service, the only breakpoint I hit is the getter on the BehaviorExtensionElement's BehaviorType property. None of the other methods are ever invoked; BehaviorExtensionElement.CreateBehavior(), WebHttpBehavior.AddServerErrorHandlers(), as well as nothing in my implementation of IErrorHandler. This leads me to believe that something isn't being registered with WCF. My service is defined in the app.config. When I step-through a call to one of my service's operations, I would expect that the process of throwing an exception would force my service to transfer the work to my error handler. But this is not the case... My service stops and throws me an unhandled exception, and nothing is sent to the client as a result. Am I doing something wrong? Am I not understanding this process? If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!My code basically has implementations of IErrorHandler, and classes that derive WebHttpBehavior with an override on AddServerErrorHandlers(), and also BehaviorExtensionElement with an override for the property BehaviorType and method CreateBehavior(). Nothing fancy, but I have a feeling I may be missing something...This is my app.config:&
